Arsenal transfer blow after Premier League club convinces midfielder to stay put

Arsenal has been handed a blow in their bid to add Ruben Neves to their squad this summer as he looks set to stay at Wolves.

The midfielder has been on their radar for a long time, and he remains one of the finest players in the Premier League in his position.

Mikel Arteta’s side has had a busy summer transfer window which has seen them add Fabio Vieira to their midfield.

Neves is more experienced in that position, and it doesn’t seem they have dropped their interest in him.

However, The Sun claims Wolves now expect him to stay after no club met their asking price.

They quoted £75million to his suitors, but most of them think he is worth under £45m.

He would now remain at the Molineux for another campaign, and Arsenal will hope he becomes their star signing for the next summer.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Neves would have been a solid signing for us, considering that he is still within the age range of our recent signings, and he is accomplished in the Premier League.

However, the fee Wolves want for his signature is outrageous, and it makes little sense to spend all that on him.

It would probably be lesser in the next summer transfer window, and we can get our man without paying so much for him.

  1. So yet another spurious rumour bites the dust, unsurprisingly.
This merely decent but no more than just decent level player was never going to come to us. He was way overpriced, as all could see, IF they CHOSE to see it.

No worries though, as another spurious rumour will be along in a few minutes though, so don’t fret, you dreamers!

  2. Wolves can hardly be criticised over the fee demanded for Neves as every other club overvalues their own players including Arsenal!
And if Neves is indeed only a ‘decent level player’ why did Arsenal want him then?

  3. think everyone in EPL was interested, Wolves gave a crazy quoted price and everyone just moved on. They simply did not want to sell him which is why they said ridiculous numbers this season. He’s been linked with nobody since season ended.

  4. I always struggle to understand this transfer blow thing.

How can it be a transfer blow, when our intrest died in child birth.

Even Manchester United who are famous with ridiculous buying strength, had a laugh at his price,

  5. If you want Neves just pay the asking fee or move on.Of course he’s not worth £75 mill(but certainly £50 mill to us)but to replace that kind of performance he gives Wolves week in week out, then who is out there that can perform to that level that’s under £50 mill. And don,t think you’ll get him cheaper in a years time,Ruben loves Wolves and he will sign another short term contract to tag onto the two years he already has left. Not sure he would go to Arsenal anyway, he’s desperate to go to Barca once he leaves Wolves.
