Arsenal transfer round-up – Walace, Sessegnon, Gundogan

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger today revealed that he is not looking to make major changes to his current squad before the new campagn, so we thought we’d look at the latest possible arrivals.

Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan is one of the players most heavily linked with a switch to a number of clubs, but is now claimed to have completed a move to Manchester City for the new term, although such an early deal appears unlikely at present.

Another player’s name who keeps popping up alongside our clubs is Ryan Sessegnon, who is flourishing with Fulham’s youth side and England’s Under-17s over the past year. The youngster turns 16 in May and could be set to join on a pre-contract agreement, and would be a great addition to our future contingent.

Midfielder Walace is somewhat of a new name to be touted as a future Gunner, and in reality the youngster would likely struggle to earn a work permit. The 21 year-old has become a regular in Brazil’s top division in recent seasons, but his Brazil Under-20 outings will not be enough to earn a work permit, and we may have to pay over the odds to retrieve a permit via an appeal.

These three midfielders have all been linked with a possible move to the Emirates around the time that Manchester City have been linked with a raid for our current duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alex Ramsey. Obviously neither will be sold to one of our strong league rivals, but no doubt speculation will continue to grow.

How crucial is it that we bring in established stars this summer and not solely future potential players? Would Sessegnon be able to make an impact during the new campaign?
