Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Carrasco, Benzema, Maxi Romero, Murillo, Chambers exit?

The countdown is on to the European Championships this summer, where a host of emerging stars will be trying to earn big-money moves to some top clubs, but a number of our targets will not be involved in the tournament.

Karim Benzema is linked with a move to Arsenal every summer, and this year is no different. The Real Madrid striker has been in the press for all the wrong reasons this summer, and his exit actually appears much more believable at present. Maybe we will finally get our man?

Another Champions League finalist is being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Yannick Carrasco said to be the subject of an offer. The midfielder scored the equaliser at the weekend, and is highly rated.

Another creative forward in Maxi Romero is also believed to be a strong target, but we are said to be in the advanced stages of negotiations over his deal however. The youngster is claimed to be set to stay with his club until at least January, before joining up with us at the end of Argentina’s domestic season.

Calum Chambers helped the England Under-21s to lift the Toulon Tournament this weekend, and he has talked up a potential exit from the club this summer. He wants regular first-team action, and you can hardly blame him. He will likely go out on loan, where he will hopefully grow into a player worthy of a place in our starting line-up.

Inter Milan’s Jeison Murillo could potentially be coming in to cover his place in defence. The Colombian has enjoyed an impressive season in Serie A, and we are believed to be considering making an offer for him.

Can you see any truth in the latest rumours?

  1. Benzema is in that world-class bracket… I know a lot of you don’t think he is, but he’s talent has been proven at the highest level for a very, very long time now! He can do everything Giroud already does for our attack… And is infinitely better at all the things Giroud can’t do!
With Real Madrid looking hard for a new striker, and his off field exploits this season liking showing his value to at least wipe off 20mil (40mil seems about right….) I say pull the trigger as it would leave enough in the kitty for Rodriguez and a CB.

    1. Forget Benzema, Arsenal should do everything possible to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

      1. 1.) Suarez – Staying
        2.) Lewi – Staying
        3.) Higuain – I think he’ll leave for 70mil+
4.) Aubamayeng (who I’d sell my first-born to come to Arsenal) – Likely to transfer RM, if at all.
        5.) Aguero – Probs not….
        6.) Benzema <45mil
7.) Ibra – Likely to move to Man Utd.

  2. The Truth Is…. Arsenal should have been confirming their 2nd and 3rd signings by Now! ?
Apparently,Wenger has been negotiating the Xhaka transfer since January lol…. So surely, the striker must have been tapped up, long before that? ?

We will probably end up with either Ibrahimovic (who’s looking pretty smug at the moment) Or Benzema ( who’s looking kind of.. Indenially – Homeless) ?

    1. You’re aware the official window only opens tomorrow?… There’s still a long time to go before pre-season begins. Which is ideally when business should be pretty much wrapped up. But in the case of the Euro’s. If we’re targetting any of the players playing in the tournament they’ll likely have a few weeks holiday afterwards at least.

      1. Oh thanks for that ? is that why we signed Xhaka before the Euro’s kicked off? ? ? so that we didn’t pester him, whilst he was on his holidays? ???
and it had nothing to do with getting the player before his valuation boomed or before another club came in for him.

        Okayyyy!… How stupid of me!
You can always ask for a refund! ?
maybe I should take a break from commenting on here! ?

        1. Yes… Yes it is stupid of you if you think the transfer window has officially opened…

          1. I don’t get this ‘TRANSFER WINDOW OFFICIALLY OPENED’ thing…Teams have already been confiming signings.

            1. Although teams buy players and announce them the paperwork doesn’t go through with the f.a and other governing body’s until the transfer window opens “officially”

  3. The transfer season officially starts on July 1st..same as every year..
Just for those who are unsure.

  4. So the Romero one is true we know this, I think. One more season with them sounds better than two, because even when he gets here it will be some time before we see results. I like this one, I think he’s great in the air, but also quick.

Chambers should go out on loan, if we get a CB. I don’t like him at RB, pace out does him. What I do like about him is that he uses his intelligence, and he is strong, a top specimen for a boy his age. I think we should send him somewhere were he’ll be starting CB each week. Hopefully beside a partner who he can learn from. Actually, Koeman might be a great person for him to listen to, he probably could improve Chambers.
