Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Lemar, Draxler, Mario, Alexis/Ozil latest

With Christmas coming up thick and fast, that means that the new year is only around the corner, and we are sure to see a swift increase in transfer speculation surrounding our beloved Arsenal.

Much of the rumours will of course be surrounding Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez, with all three currently into the final year of their respective contracts. The England midfielder is believed to have talks about a potential new deal scheduled for December which could end links with an exit for him.

Alexis Sanchez is supposedly a key target for Paris Saint-Germain, who are eyeing the Chilean as a possible replacement for Neymar. The Brazilian is said to be keen on a return to Spain with Real Madrid, while our club is claimed to be keen to cash-in this winter instead of losing him for free come the summer.

Ozil on the other hand, is possibly having the door closed on his potential Barcelona move. Iniesta has supposedly followed Lionel Messi into telling his bosses that they shouldn’t pursue the German international, urging the club to promote 19 year-old Carles Alena instead.

Julian Draxler is linked as a possible replacement for one of the above, with him having fallen down the pecking order in Paris. The winger has long-been touted as a long-term target for Arsene Wenger, and his club are believed to be in need of raising funds thanks to their huge spending in the summer. Liverpool appear likely to rival any bid made for his signature.

One failed move for the summer is supposedly being re-ignited, with Arsenal eyeing Thomas Lemar once more. The French international hasn’t enjoyed his best campaign, and our club are believed to be ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a cut-price offer.

Euro 2016 winner Joao Mario is another potential replacement for the duo, and has also struggled for regular action this term. Inter are said to be looking to potentially use the Portuguese in a bid to land Ozil from us, but are claimed to have slapped a £27 Million asking price on the 24 year-old.

Could we keep any of Wilshere, Ozil or Alexis Sanchez? Which of the trio would be the better fit to our attack?

  1. Draxler could be Van Persie 2.0, due to his stature and skills. He has been playing centrally as well, made him very versatile.

Lemar is good as a central midfielder, but in my opinion he sucks as a winger. He stood out when playing alongside Kante in the center of France team.

As an Arsenal fan, I could only drool of these possibilities, because I think Arsenal would only have transfers after the World Cup, not in January. Sanchez and Ozil would leave at the end of season as well, if there is no big salary offer for them from Arsenal.

  2. If we lose both Alexis and Ozil we will need two of them or one of them and a CAM.

If they leave in summer, that really only leaves us Lacazette as a reliable starter up front. Welbeck, Wilshere, Iwobi are not enough quality to be regular starters behind Lacazette.

Draxler and Lemar could play behind Lacazette or along with him. But both would cost a total of well over £100 million and I see Wenger/Kroenke looking at cheaper options as usual

We also need one or 2 top Central midfielders. Coquelin, Eleny, Wilshere and Xhaka aren’t good enough. They are okay. But okay doesn’t win you the Premier League. We need players like Goretzka, Seri, Carvalho, Gueye, Gonalons

  3. Top Players only move in January due to lack of first team football or a big jump to a bigger club….

unless the clubs is willing to pay 3 to 4 times the normal rate….top players usually would not move in January

  4. We are in dire need of DM. Xhaka, Elneny, and Coq are nowhere good
I still believed we missed host of good DMs last summer ie Matuidi, Krychowiak, Kondogbia, N’zonzi, Gonalons, Javi Martinez etc

    1. Krychowiak that can’t even start for Westbrom. Nzonzi is not a DM. You continue throwing names up and down like if you know better.
