Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Perez, Benzema, Grimaldo, Bellarabi, Jese

With the international break upon us, and another eight days until our next match (against West Brom), I thought I’d give you a run down of the latest pieces of speculation surrounding our beloved club.

The Mirror is claiming that we have joined Manchester United and Tottenham in the bid to sign Ayoze Perez from Newcastle. For me this is just boredom, and they just saw the story of Spurs and United’s interest, and thought lets link him with Arsenal too!

Real Madrid are said to be looking to sell Benzema (again), as they look to tempt Robert Lewandowski away from German giants Bayern Munich. The Pole has been in spectacular form this season, but would likely cost a considerable fee, with the striker under contract until 2019. This is said to be a boost to us, whilst claiming we were willing to pay £50 Million to sign him in the previous window. Yeah right!

This one is a new one for me, Grimaldo is the captain of Barcelona’s B side, and is said to have attracted interest from the Gunners. The 20 year-old is said to be highly rated across Europe, with Bayern also keen, and we have a good record of bringing young former Catalan youths into our first-team. Not totally unbelievable.

The same report also claims that we have held talks with Bayer Leverkusen’s Karim Bellarabi, although the £15 Million fee appears to be way too low, given the winger signed a new five year deal only six months ago.

Last but not least, Jese Rodriguez is believed to be growing frustrated with his bit-part role at Real Madrid, and is said to be available for around £21.1 Million, with Arsene Wenger believed to be of interest. Now that one I would like to see happen, but after buying zero outfield players in the summer, I can’t see Wenger changing that policy in January to be honest!

  1. There actually might be a few moves this January…..
Hazard and Isco supposedly unsettled, Benz’s legal worries, a few release clauses in big names contracts (Krychowiak, Griezmann). As what seems to happen more and more regularly it may hinge on what Real Madrid are wanting to accomplish.
It’s not the strangest scenario for them to bring Hazard in and a few players leave….

    1. Isco might be a good summer target but that’s if Wilshere keeps getting injured, Cazorla is on the wrong side of 30 and we need a replacement for him soon, that is unless Wenger plans on making LeCoq his replacement, in which case bringing in another midfielder will be welcomed..

    2. Dude I’ve been wondering if we should put in a Cheeky bid for hazard. I think he’s drowning all cause of Jose. Jose has no clue how to nurture players or get the best out of them and hazard needs direction at the age of 24 plus the system he plays in is terrible for attackers. I say put in a £40m bid

  2. and sorry, the ‘no outfield players’ was an outlier… can we stop acting as though he’s been like that every window??
In the past 3 seasons he’s brought in/integrated Cech, Bellerin, Debuchy, Gabby, Monreal, Coquelin, Santi, Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud. He has not had a transfer flop/fail in three seasons!!! They’ve all been immense. Give the guy some credit, maybe he just actually doesn’t want to buy unless he’s sure, and with the transfer success he’s had, maybe give the guy some credit!!
Edit: Forgot Sanogo. But whatevs! you get my point!

    1. Agreed. I rate Michy highly and have seen most of his games the past few seasons. He would be a GREAT value buy and I’d put a 17 million bid in.

  3. What we need is for our players to comeback quickly from their respective injuries. Having Welbeck and Wilshere back is a huge boost. More than any signings we can make.
