Selling two attackers within just a few hours means Arsenal are keen to bring in at least one replacement before the transfer window closes.
The Gunners have agreed to sell Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, while it appears they have failed in their efforts to lure Julian Alvarez back to the Premier League. The Argentine is the attacker they most want to add to their squad this summer, but the World Cup winner insists he will not move to Arsenal in this window and wants only Barcelona.
Arsenal must now find another solution, as they cannot continue waiting for Alvarez. With limited time remaining, the Gunners need to act quickly if they want to strengthen their attack before the deadline.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal have turned their attention towards a move for Lille’s Matías Fernández-Pardo. The Belgian has emerged as another option as the Gunners search for an attacker capable of adding depth to their squad.

The move would put Arsenal in competition with Liverpool and Newcastle United for Fernández-Pardo’s signature, as both clubs have already held talks over a potential move for the attacker.
The Belgian appears destined to play Premier League football this season, and Arsenal are the latest club to show interest in signing him. Their need for attacking reinforcements could make their interest particularly serious following the agreements for Jesus and Martinelli to leave.

I think they are still pining after Alvarez 🤣 I would think they have a plan for selling both Trossard and Martinelli but who and when is anyones guess. I was told Yildiz was the plan in May/June but They got a shock from Juve. Then Vjr and we know what happened there. We have spots available now, so there is still time tomorrow.
Panic buy for the LW? Perhaps don’t sell until you have another player ready to step up. Sorry, but Eze and Madueke are less productive and worse on the LW than Martinelli, and Jesus has not had a serious impact in a while.
If Nwaneri and maybe Dowman get some opportunities on the wing, then I can understand trying them out until January. Otherwise, seems a bit bush league to be short on the LW; especially after spending 50 million on more defenders before addressing the attacking issues.
pardo has a high ceiling, but not as ready yet for PL rotation and backup as Forfana.
Seems a bit odd Toon paying so much money for someone not ready yet for first team PL football. If you don’t know what I mean, see for yourself – he makes Wurz look like a cage fighter.
Our recruitment team taking a bashing, but they are pretty shrewd really on targets and price. The most recent actual failure was Viera – not such a bad record recent windows considering all clubs have their hits and misses. Assembling the best depth of any squad in Prem, winning a title with it, very few incoming disasters – what are we complaining about?
There’s always stress around summer windows, and Arsenal fans are expert complainers, even when things honestly aren’t all doom and gloom 🙂
All said and done, with the league win, we had a new opportunity to upgrade our attack – the club kept insinuating there would definitely be incomings there – but we haven’t been able to get any of the targets who could actually upgrade us. We’ve even lost some attacking depth on the left wing!
To be fair to the recruitment team, the players truly available have either been heavily overpriced, or not a clear upgrade. Everyone knows the left winger market is rough this year. So their hands were somewhat tied by that, but it’s hard to argue with the concept that it would be better to go into the campaign with more cover on the left wing, even if it’s purely for emergencies or to give Tzolis a break now and then. Under these circumstances, I would personally have kept Nelli, but I guess they were already committed to clearing the decks… or something.
I reply after tonight’s final whistle, and Eze performed excellently as a left forward today. Held the ball well, was a threat with his carrying.
And in defence of Tzolis, Matty Cash is a tough opponent, and the yellow looked harsh to me. It’s where you look to young Tzolis to use tonight as learning opportunity, so that in years to come, he’s the streetwise one.
I note what you say about what was available this window was over priced. If you insist the next player in is world football superstar, you could be sat on your money a while. I am big believer you don’t just buy jigsaw pieces available in windows, when in window or two you get the jigsaw pieces that actually fits for next 5 years+.
We have enough in this squad to be favourites for back to back titles and go deep in the cups. Anyone disagree?

There’s a low ceiling on Fofana, and he’s behind Tzolis and Eze in pecking order so may not always make the bench. He won’t give us what Martinelli would have. But he is more Prem ready in stature than some youngsters we are linked with.
Maybe he will surprise on the upside, but I’m suspecting now our next superstars will be home grown like Dowman or the Quinteros. Key Dack will break through this season and could go on to be huge.
Would have prefered Pardo, who is going to Newcastle but apparently we we were too late. A bit small for me. I di not mind young and up and coming but for me, Pardo woukd have been better. We will see.
It’s look like it’s now no to Fofana. He would have been behind Tzolis and Eze for game time. I think it’s a good call.
90% of other clubs would have signed him just to fill a hole though. Spuds might still come in and sign him. 🤣 And apparently a splurge window, creating much of a muchness is a successful window?
What in particular do you like about Pardo Reg? We will have to see how it goes, as Newcastle spending lot of money on him. But he’s not as fast as Martinelli or Fofana. And remember when Liverpool spent that money on Wurz, and people said he is a stick man, Prem defences will eat him. Pardo makes Wurz look like a cage fighter.

Pardo is big, strong, Fast, especially the first 5 yards and can carry the ball well. Massive ceiling!!!
Prem ready in my opinion.
And he is quick, he recorded the fastest speed in ligue 1 last season.
