Arsenal v Bayern Munich Match Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Arsenal host Bayern Munich tonight as we look to do the highly unexpected, and somehow overturn our devastating 5-1 defeat in Germany.

We fought hard in the opening half of the first-leg to get back into the match having gone a goal behind early on, and went into the interval level at 1-1. This turned out to be the high-point of the game, as we lost stand-in captain Laurent Koscielny shortly after the break, before a gut-wrenching 10 minutes in which we suffered three goals.

We now have the huge task of trying to gain a four-goal win at the Emirates tonight, whilst not conceding more than one goal, otherwise a five-goal defeat of the Germans will somehow be needed…

Well ignoring the fantasy for now, we come into the game on the back of a loss, although with both of our two top scorers having been benched this weekend, will hopefully be fresh to give us our best chance of trying to claw our way back.

Theo Walcott and Alexis have a combined tally of 35 goals in all competitions this term, and they will need to be at their best tonight. Mesut Ozil will not return having already missed the Liverpool loss due to illness, and with Ramsey freshly back to replace him in the centre we will probably have a more attacking formation that against Liverpool.

Predicted XI:

Ospina
Bellerin  Koscielny  Mustafi Monreal
Coquelin  Oxlade
Walcott     Ramsey Iwobi
Alexis

As usual, we come into the second leg of this round trailing, and we will of course react by winning the return leg, albeit just missing out on qualification for the next stage. It would be a very Arsenal thing to do to win 6-2 tonight, and be eliminated on away goals, but Bayern wont be rolling over. I expect us to come away with a 3-2 win, with our need to get forward opening our defence up also.

How many first-half goals would be needed to give us the belief at the interval? What are your score predictions?

  1. Yea, we might win and not qualify..but to answer your question of how many goals we need to score in the first half, I think we need to score 3 and add 2 more in the second half and that can never happen…

The best we can do is win 2-0 at full time…
This fine club is been dragged to the ground, it is so so painful seeing a club you love so much suffer this humiliation EVERY year…

    #changeIsNeeded#

  2. My Team to start tonight would be as follows..

    ____________Ospina____________
    Bellerin__Mustafi__Koscielny__Gibbs
    ________Xhaka___Chambo_______
    Walcott______ Alexis________Lucas
    ___________Welbeck____________

I think we should try and get at them tonight with pace.. Welbeck and Alexis are both great at pressing, Ox can carry the ball through midfield Xhaka can play it longer and Lucas and Walcott can dart in from the wings and as the game goes on we could bring on Giroud and whip balls in the box.. also with these direct players running at their slow defenders it could cause them a lot of problems perhaps even an early sending off and pen lol.. I think the team we played in the away leg should have looked more like this but such is life..I say we go for pace and power, what do we have to lose!? COYG!

    1. Theo i dont like him. But if he is given instructions to deliver crosses instead of running around and wanting to score he can help us. I miss the theo who used to cross to rvp. This theo is like an emerging young star haha its so frustrating watching him play after 10 years.

  3. Thats’s your predicted starting 11? If that happens I will not watch this game. The five behind Sanchez are all losers. Coquelin used to be a winner, but he has become a worse player now than when he first came to the team.

Come to think of it All five of those, Coquelin, Ox, Walcott, Iwobi and Ramsey, they are all worser than they were when they came into the first team folds. There was a point when each of them were decent to good, but I’ll tell you now NONE of them will reach that same level or go beyond it.

  4. If we go 3-0 up needing one more goal, the players will revert back to men behind the ball and Bayern will easily run the clock down without further threat.

Even If we are winning 4-0 you can just as well see that there will be a last minute sucker punch from Bayern, such is the mentality in this team.

  5. All I wanna hear is that: Arsene have decided to call it a day, or at least to announce that he won’t be signing new contract. #COYG anyway

  6. Lol !!!
Arsenal cannot beat this Bayern team at the moment.
Even 10-man Bayern team will beat us any day, anywhere.
    We are too overrated !!

    1. Forget 10 men, we would probably struggle to beat their reserves the way we’re playing.

  7. This night will be the night of truth for Bayern Munich to know for they will see the true Arsenal team in action against them. A true Gunners team that is different from the false team that played against them at the Allianz Arena a forth night ago is team that will this night at the Emirates Stadium pounce, pound and hammer Bayern Munich by 4 goals to nil at full-time plus the added time to knockout them from this season’s UCL campaign.

    The Team Starts:
    Ospina
    Bellerin Mustafi Koscielny Gibbs
    Coquelin Xhaka
    Chamberlain Sanchez Perez
    Welbeck.

    The Bench:
Cech Paulista Holding Monreal Ramsey Walcott Giroud.

  9. Like I have been saying all forking day lol?? History, our records for getting knocked out at this stage by the skin of our teeth.
So I wouldn’t be surprised if we go 3 nil up in the first half and just when the whole world is expecting us to get that 4th important goal, we go and fork it up, big time ??
Anyways, if we get hammered again like in the 1st leg then this would clearly show that Wenger’s Arsenal career is dead and buried for sure.
There’s a lot more than pride at stake tonight.
    And on that note…
?? ? We hate you GroundHog, wee do ? X2
? Oooh GroundHog We hate Youuu ?

  10. Same script, different year.Probably same result as last year’s meeting at the Emirates.
Fancy robben to cut inside and score with his left foot and lewandowski to add to his tally against us.

    1. Haha love ur optimism. But we need to take so many factors to take into account.
      1. Player morale- to win by a huge margin like 4 the team morale has to be so high. Looking at our team now the team is in panic mode. How many games hve we lost now?
      2. Luck. If no 1 is absent then we need all the luck we can get. I.e A scenario where the game has just kicked off and we get a penalty and we convert it after which the first corner we get we score. Hehe tough very tough.
The chances of arsenal going 4 nil is a 10% chance. The reason is clear and every arsenal fan can bear witness. When we attack directly we are so easy to counter against. And a team like bayern with guys like robben, ribery, costa, and there midfield duo we will be easy to counter against thus i expect bayern to atleast score a goal.
We might win but i dont see us going through

  11. a win? on our form. Na. 3-1 bayern. their squad is better than it was last time, and we’ve lost Ozil. (not that he helped much)

  12. I’d love us to go in at the break leading two nil. Tease me tease me tease me baby!!

  13. Sadly my optimism chip has failed. I see us losing 4-2 if we get the chance to score, or worse 3-0 if we play like scared rabbits afraid to come out of our half.
