Arsenal v Burnley match preview and score prediction

Under normal circumstances, it is fairly easy to guess what line-up the manager will go with and you can then craft a match preview based on that guess, however, that is not so much the case with Arsenal right now.

I have no idea how many changes Unai Emery is going to make, there really are a ton of open questions with no answer until Emery announces the team tomorrow.

I cannot know what sort of frontline will be fielded, will Luiz be brought in at the back? what is the formation? Ceballos, Nelson, Willock, Torreira, will they play?.

However, that does not mean that I cannot be confident that Arsenal will win at home with the squad they have, because I am very confident they will win.

Bringing in Luiz and say dropping Chambers will not weaken the defence, picking Torreira over Willock will not weaken the midfield, playing only two of Pepe, Lacazette and Aubameyang will not affect Arsenal strike capabilities and so on.

We are not talking about Emery fielding a team fit for the Carabao Cup, no, we will see a very strong Arsenal line up tomorrow in some form and one that will beat Burnley.

I am not being complacent, I know the Clarets will pose a threat, they have an in-form Ashley Barnes and they will be very physical but Burnley have lost nine in a row against Arsenal in the Premier League and there is a reason for that.

I am not so confident that Burnley will not penetrate the Arsenal defence, I suspect they will breach the backline at some point but the Arsenal forward line will simply be too strong for Sean Dyche’s men to hold out for the whole game.

In conclusion, I expect a clear Arsenal win.

    1. I would like us to use as many players as possible over our first couple of matches, so that we can see exactly who is ready for the next two matches, which will be far more of a test.

      I think we all saw who was up to speed and had what the most from pre season so far. Leno, Maitland-niles, chambers, Sokratis, guendozi, willock and aubameyang all look up to speed.

      Burnley is a perfect opportunity to get the rest of the squad up to speed

      Martinez, Luiz, holding, Monreal, kolasinac, torreira, xhaka, mkhitaryan, ozil, nelson, Pepe, Lacazette, martinelli, Smith-Rowe

      I would like to see all these guys get some minutes and the chance to get some form asap.

      Before we play Liverpool and spurs

      1. Martinez? You must be kidding, this is the league, you don’t change your goalkeeper due to opponent you facing unless there is an injury.

        Your line up will definitely not win against Burnley.

  5. We most take var into consideration and consider the calmest heads in defense otherwise we may concede more goals from var,who are the calmest heads we have in our ranks (holding)alone I assume.

    1. I’d like to see Luiz instead of Chambers.. if Xhaka’s fit, he’ll play instead of Guendouzi. And I’d like to see Ozil instead of Ceballos other than that, spot on Jim!

  16. This is the type of game where hero`s are made (or destroyed). Arsenal, to me,are not a 6-0 side yet but it will come once the defence has settled and confidence has fully returned. 3-1 for me.
