Arsenal v Chelsea First Half Review – Brilliant game and could go either way

Arsenal started well and were pushing Chelsea back. Our first big chance came quickly as Lacazette got a lucky free kick but Sanchez put it onto the head of one of Chelseas wall. But Chelsea came back into the game and somehow Morata was left one-on-one but incredibly put the ball well wide of the post. Two minutes later and Chelsea again got intoCech’s box but the ex-Chelsea keeper smothered it well.

It was straight down the other end and Alexis saw a shot bounce of both posts before getting cleared. This game is as exciting as we expectedand I am already feeling the buzz. It’s end to end stuff and great to watch, but who will make the breakthrough? Another Arsenal attack came to Laca in the box and he did a trademark turn and although he took his shot perfectly somehow Courtois saw it coming and flew to the ground to stop Arsenal going ahead. It could have easily been 2-1 to Arsenal half way through the first half!

Arsenal were looking great going forward with confidence and Chelsea were great in defence. Chelsea got a great break and Babayoko was fed a lovely ball in front of goal and his strike hit Cech’s hand and over the bar. The first half hour was brilliant but Wilshere went in very heavy and got a deserved booking. The chances were flying in at both ends and Sanchez is really trying hard and not looking like he wants to leave.

Alonso got a freekick right on the edge of the box but whacked it well over and a minute later Ozil shot but just past the post. This is definitely an entertaining game but both teams are holding their own with skill and class.Fabregas got booked after winning the ball off Wilshere and nobody but the ref thought it was justified. Otherwise the game has been played with no animosity or nastiness. Then Fabregas was given a golden chance but shot his great chance over the bar. Both sides have been going full out to win in the first half and if they carry on like this we are in for a feast in the second half…

  1. chambers struggling, ozil playing at the highest level, bellerin & xhaka playing at their level, need to close this out w 3 pts. really hoping Laca gets a deserved goal. would like to see him w confidence

  2. As long as Bellerin stays on, then we are in trouble, he has been awful, his header out of the penalty area fell to a Chelsea player, he can’t cross, can’t shoot, why oh why does he still get a start and the same applies to Xhaka, our two weakest links. Niles has bee great

  3. Really, cheating ref has killed the game.

Why can’t Wenger question these dubious decisions that keep costing us points?

Why can FA stop fkn cheating and expell the refs.

  4. Arsenal are like the spouse who drives you to eventually hate the sight of them.
    Kroenke – Wenger – Sanchez – Ozil – Gazidis.
Nothing to like about them at all…

  5. The CB’s look like 3 dizzy donkeys. With a little help from the lady samurai gone shopping, the defense looks brilliant.

  6. rhythm and momentum lost after the penalty… ref changed the match again, but shame on bellerin for that lazy play… no reason to stick that leg out…

  7. Wenger Fails Again !
The specialist in failure once again lives up to his reputation.
FAILING against a top five club
Arsenal are a complete and utter joke of a club.
For the good of everyone just walk away Wenger.
Say your goodbyes and clear off.
You pathetic washed up old dinosaur…

      1. Last season was meant to be a blessing but he is still here.
He is a terminal diagnosis for Arsenal…

  8. We managed 2 salvage a point, well not a bad result knowing we were up against Chelsea. Good game 2nite…

  9. Sorry 23 points behind.
And some will see this as a “victory”
Kroenke and Wenger – Like a double tap for Arsenal.
One taking the money out of the club and the other killing it with his tactical and managerial incompetence…

  10. speedster hector does need to weigh in with more goals – were he to do so he’d add to his and to arsenals value. far as penalties go hazard 10 out of 10 for over reaction in the box, never was that a penalty. imo

  11. I hate Chelsea nearly as much as I hate the spuds.
We didn’t get the thrashing I was expecting, brilliant goals from Jack & Hector! Ozil you were great, we missed you on Sunday!
Shame Hazard went down like he’d been shot. One thing I got right was about Cech & his clean sheet. Will he EVER save a penalty??????
