Arsenal v Crystal Palace Review – Who needs Alexis Sanchez?

Arsenal hadn’t won a game in their last 5 matches and without a win in 2018, and Crystal Palace were in great form in the same period, so all the miserable Arsenal haters were predicting an easy win for Palace, but suddenly after just six minutes Arsenal were 1-0 up from a header by Nacho Monreal who has just come back from injury.

And unbelievably just 4 minutes later it was 2-0 when Alex Iwobi, who has had an unbelievable amount of criticism on justarsenal lately, was on hand to poke a centre into a crowded box from Monreal into the net.

Arsenal were flying, and amazingly on 13 minutes the Gunners were 3-0 ahead thanks to Koscielny, from another Xhaka corner. That is both our returning defenders have scored and we are already out of sight and Lacazette hasn’t even got into the game yet.

But, thanks be to God, just 9 mins later, Ozil sends a brilliant backheel through to our out of form striker who slots it into the net to make it 4-0 with only a quarter of the game gone. Incredible stuff, and who was that Alexis geezer again???

Palace finally got a chance on the half hour mark but Cech was equal to Sako’s attempt, and 5 mins later Monreal seems in trouble and gets replaced by Maitland-Niles.

The game was already over by half time and Wenger can start thinking about calming the players down and keeping them fit for the big game against Chelsea on Wednesday…

The second half was played as expected, with the Gunners saving energy and Palace trying hard to not conceded any more and embarrass themselves, but other than Wilshere and Xhaka going down and looking injured there was little to tell until Luka Milivojevic finally got one back with 12 minutes to go, but we were hardly worried.

Lacazette had a penalty call with 2 mins of injury time gone, but did it really matter? So Arsenal scored 4 without Alexis, Chelsea scored 4 without Morata, can we expect a 3rd 0-0 draw on Wednesday?

  1. Now that’s more like it Arsenal… Life becomes easier when you Delete the Negative people from It. Get out from my team you greedy and selfish Alexis.

    1. Not just Alexis. Have you noticed how all the negative “fans” predicting Arsenal would lose stopped commenting after the first ten minutes. As far as I’m concerned they can crawl back under their rocks.

We’re better off without Alexis and the miserable gits.

        1. Have u noticed how all the over optimistic things go quiet and pretty much disappear when we lose to Bournemouth watford etc
          U can’t take sugar without salt .

          Cut it out

            1. Should still get behind the team though. Instead of predicting a battering from Palace the pessimists should comment about their hopes for a win. Many of us play the lottery and have more faith in our chances of winning that than we do of beating Palace when beating Palace is far more plausible. Something is wrong there.

        1. Correctamundo. All the weegor heads have a flickering ember to comfort them. We still couldn’t score in the 2nd 45.

          1. Why should they? The game was over and they should save energy for the Chelsea game on Wednesday. What difference is there between 4-1 and 9-0? It’s still 3 points….

            1. That is what sickens me about you and your like. You are happy with a mediocre display. This team cannot or havent the ba… to put teams to the sword. That is why Arsenal will go no where while fans like you have that attitude.

              1. We are still 23 points yes 23 points behind the leaders and the likes of you think this is ok. Catch yourself on admin. Its a shsme and disgrace at this stage of the league.

                Aye right!!!!!!

              2. I’m glad you’re not the manager. If Wenger had told them to go out and run themselves into the ground to score another few goals, but then they were all knackered for Chelsea (which I want to win twice as much) would you really think that is such a good idea?
Have you heard of priorities? The team had made sure of the three points, and that is the aim of every game, is it not?

                1. Oh I forgot …… this cup that we are playing in is now a priority where in previous years it was always to give the “2nd” string a run out. Oh how our “magnificent “manager can change his priorities when we have f all to play for. Next youll be saying 7th place is a priority. GET A GRIP!!!!!!!

          2. You’re not even an arsenal supporter are ya? Do you even congratulate the team when they win? All this bitchin about them not scoring in the 2nd half. You’re not serious.

            1. I have been a supporter all my life and yes I do like to see them win and I would not expect anything but a major win against a poor palace team. A four one victory today is nothing to crow about. It must be pleasing to those who seem to know nothing about football.

  2. Solid first half. Lacazette, need to improve more. We still need Replacement for Henry or replacement for RVP or at least for Sanchez.

  3. Who needs Alexis Sanchez?
A Club which wants to strengthen their team and be title contenders!

Good performance tonight but its palace… and they still managed to score against us. I just hope we get ozil to stay, him and jack are top players in creating chances.

        1. because next to Diaby he is the most injured young player we have ever had on our roster…Wenger lucked into the same scenario with Coq two years ago, as injuries and poor play opened the door for Wiltshire, which likely wouldn’t have happened otherwise(thus the loan to Bournemouth)…think about it, Wiltshire had never played 6 straight 90 minute games in his Arsenal career then all of a sudden he does it over the Xmas break during a crunched schedule…pure utter desperation on Wenger’s part and although Jack has performed well he could have just as easily been injured and out for an extended period like in the past…it will be absolutely hilarious if Wenger can convince Jack to take a reduced wage by enticing him with the Captain’s armband…we all know how much that means on this team(sarcasm of course)

  4. Great win ?. Admin you can also add. Who needs Chamberlain Walcott Gibbs Cazorla Gabriel Mertz Giroux Perez Wellbeck. Where are the critics now?

    1. One single win against Palace. We are 23 points behind the leaders. No FA cup, No PL, No CL just Carabao (wtf) and Europa. I mean that’s Everton territory not Arsenal. If you guys are happy gunning for 6th and Carabao so be it. I am not, many here are not.

  5. Good result, can’t complain…

I only wished we didn’t concede.

    Delighted Lacazette played full 90mins.

    I miss the thumb button.

  6. Now, Now, Now…this is the kind of articles that gives evidence for Wenger to pull off serious deals…He will say based on the goals that we are just ok…I hope not

      1. I am super thrilled with the win.
After so many bleak days recently
and the endless negativity this win
is a welcome burst of sunshine.
What a response from the team and it is a team not just a few stars
But I too am not forgetting we have had too many poor results of late
and we need many more good performances to make top 4.
I doubt this one win will change our transfer window policy
and I fully expect Auba to come shortly after Mhki.
Olivier and possibly Perez heading away is on the cards too.
Now to have Jack and especially Mesut resign as soon as possible.
Enjoying the moment but always with an eye to the future as well
        Well done team 🙂

  7. I think our defence is main area that needs/must be fixed.

But it was a good win today 🙂

    FULL-TIME
    Arsenal 4-1 Crystal Palace

      1. We beat palace at home .
        Great first half .fantastic play
        But people already bragging boasting

I’m sorry we’re 6th so don’t be so quick to come out an say I told u so .
1 home win against relegation team and ur talking smack .

Happy we won but don’t go mental

            1. like u barry .
              points are cheeky but astute

hold me to it- i might very well be the hypocrite in this dynamic …yikes 🙁

              1. “So Muff if we lose to Chelsea
                I might say
“Sad we lost but don’t go mental”

GREAT reply but I’m not holding my breath!

                1. i do hope everyone here understands the difference between Palace and Chelsea. If not I.m sure you can Google the last 10 years of the PL and see for yourself.
These false equivalencies do not help the discussion.
Beating Palace at home should be the norm for Arsenal, a basic day at the office. The fact that some here are so ecstatic only goes to show how far we have fallen.
The real tests are against the other top 6 teams. Beat Chelsea and deservedly celebrate. Loose to Chelsea and … well actually that is pretty much the norm, so you’re right nobody should complain.

        1. I don’t expect anything less from someone who want us to loss. What i don’t get from you is, not that i don’t want it, how do you know Wenger will be sacked because of losing so many match. l for one hate to see us lose but If you can assure me it will make him loss his job i will be in your camp. Otherwise it is plain stupid.

        2. Season ain’t over yet mate! We can be hopeful at this point. New potential signings make me hopeful. This is football. We can go from 6th to 4th and 3rd very quickly. Remember when we finished 2nd? That came from no where. We were 3rd that Feb, behind spurs then past them in May.

        3. “People already bragging and boasting. I’m sorry we’re 6th so don’t be so quick to come out and say I told you so”

Muffdiver, season ain’t over yet mate! We can be hopeful at this point. New potential signings make me hopeful. This is football. We can go from 6th to 4th and 3rd very quickly. Remember when we finished 2nd? That came from no where. We were 3rd that Feb, behind spurs then past them in May.

  8. Here we go, typical cheap AFC – Dortmund asking 53, AFC offer 40 . . . . we know how these deals generally end up . . . .

    1. I guess we all believe what the very reliable press offer to us, they are always right aren’t they and never print anything for dramatic effect. Wake up no one knows the truth apart from the clubs.

  9. Digest that all Arsene haters, we struggled as our first teamers were injured.BTW Auba and Mkhi are big names linked to arsenal, so Arsene Sir, has not lost his mojo and does attract big names.Looking forward to winning the leage cup, Europa league, a top 4 finish and a 2 year contract extension for Wenger

    1. I’m hopeful of the League cup Europa league, but the rest, I’m doubtful.

PS I don’t want AW to die in the job. I’m still recovering from Jock Stein.

    2. Hahahahahahahahaha Gunner 22 you’re funny. Yes, we are getting players but it is not Wenger pulling them. They are not wanted by their teams. When was the last time we got into a tug of war for a star that was wanted by many top teams and won? Wenger is finished, he has been finished for a long time. But Wenger supporters are like Trump supporters, Neither one however obviously inept as they are can do no wrong, in the eyes of their blind supporters.

  10. Top first half performance with a very subdued 2nd half. How good was Ozil in that first half when everything went through him.Iwobi?I am alone in hoping to god that his days are numbered when Auba and MIKKI arrive. He is awful

    1. The WENGER OUT will not stop until he is gone.A win against a depleted Palace side makes no difference. He must GO before we can even begin to undo the damage he has single handedly caused to OUR club and move forward to at least start competing again.

      1. Damage?he’s the one who placed us on the pedestal and made us a global entity, give respect where it’s due

        1. So who is to blame for our position?6th place in the league with a real scrap to qualify for CL in 4th place. Our best players being allowed to have their contracts run down to a point where THEY can decide wether or not they stay.Dont start with 3 FA CUPS in 4 seasons blah blah blah.Wenger should have been a decorator as he is the master at papering over cracks

          1. On the contract part, you should blame the club administration for allowing that to happen. They are the one who didn’t do there job. Have you heard that happening in other clubs. Other managers are responsible for what happen on the field and leave contract related issue , buying or selling player to there dof and CEO.

        2. The one who made us global entity? Was he doing that for free?? He was employee like everyone else and what he did he got paid for that, we should not keep a fruit that’s rotten just coz it was sweet and delicious in its early days. Throw away the gabbage. He is old and out of ideas, winning against the relegation threatened team made the Wenger lovers come out of their stinky holes and start shouting. It’s not Chelsea or Man City, it’s freaking Cr. Palace.. remember the name

    2. Those that are shouting are doing so to oppose those that wanted us to loss so that they can gloat about being right about Wenger. One thing is to hate Wenger another is to want your team to lose because of him. It is pathetic to want that because it negate what supporting and be a fan is all about.

  11. Well played Arsenal. Important thing now is to not get overboard, keep the feet in the ground and sustain this.

    1. Umm why are you calling fellow Arsenal fans pathetic?
Do you have no respect? Can they not enjoy it when Arsenal win?

    2. Hmm seems someone has reveals their true allegiances here then. Try to stop insulting your fellow fans mate!

  12. Today’s game shows how important it is to keep Ozil. Also, having Monreal and Koscielny back made a massive difference.

Typically, we turned trash again when Monreal and Ozil went off.

Hoping that Kolasinac, Monreal and Ozil are fit for the league cup 2nd leg.

  13. Wenger- the miki x Sanchez deal might happen within the next 48 hours(again ?) and it won’t happen unless we definitely get miki translation- we are not ? the agents fee

  14. Great wun gooners. At last Wenger deployed a natural left footed Montreal at his proper position. Created 2 goalz & scored 1. The game changed after intro of right footed Niles instead of kolasinac. Great win though #COYG#

  15. Who needs Sanchez? Well we did last week when we couldn’t even get a point against a rubbish team! But well done, we beat a rubbish team at home today. So clearly Sanchez isn’t needed!

    1. Your correct 3rd man, didn’t need him last week. Rather loose 3 points to a struggling team. He has officially gone now any way.
      Arsenal’s loss.

  16. do you really think you’re helping the club by slurping up Wenger following 16 minutes of good play…think logically just for a second, never has Monreal contributed so much in the final third(then he went out injured again), we scored two goals based on set pieces, which certainly hasn’t happened in quite some time and the other two goal scorers have scored a handful of goals in the past 3 seasons…this is why this club is in the predicament they’re in because you lack any sense of perspective or foresight, much like the manager you cuddle up to regardless of whatever inane things he does that negatively impact our club…it’s like finding an unopened chocolate bar in the garbage can

  17. I actually didn’t plan to watch the game, and of course I didn’t after getting disillusioned at the listless and lack of direction in the way the team had been playing recently.
But then, I was positively surprised and quite glad to see the scoreline at 4-0 at the 38th minute. I only hope this doesn’t turn out to be a flash in the pan.
Good win but more consistency needed

  18. gabriel, ox, walcott, sanchez, perez out on loan: that’s 15m+35M+20M+20M = 90M pounds!!! where The Frack is the money?!! like donald trump follow the money trail…and on average fans are required to pay 78 pounds per seat/ match? WTF!!! GIVE US AUBA, MIKI( A FREEBIE) PLUS A DM AND A CB!!!! Guys, don’t let the frog let you believe that sanchez was a disruption! coquelon came out and has denied any such happenings this is all a PR stunt by the AFC propaganda machine to get you to believe fake news! the cheap ba$tARDS DID NOT want to pay alexis the going rate so they made him look like a problem child so that then AFC can spin it as a transaction of neccessity for the betterment of the club..that is BS!! don’t believe it!! one win against a minnow like CP is not gonna solve our issues! we need WC players and we should demand to see where the hell all the money is going from the sales!!! And that the whole of 90M pounds are put back in the squad othewise continue to boycott attending the game….loyalty is a 2 way street..if the club is not loyal to you then you as a fan have every right to give a middle finger back at them!!!

  19. This game is somehow surprising, after long time of loose n draw, n during Sanchez saga. Anyway, I can’t be sad we won, therefore, I am happy. But I hope this is not a flash, as someone said b4.
