Arsenal v QPR review – SMFH – LMFAO – and PHEW!

I really do not know which way to go on the latest Arsenal performance, because there were so many contradictory things to take from the Premier League home game against QPR. The Gunners did a fantastic job in many ways, by absolutely taking Harry Redknapp and his players to the cleaners.

The performance and the way that Arsenal and particularly Alexis Sanchez gave the visitors a lesson in football was an example of the best of the Gunners. It was footballing genius and I think that Tomas Rosicky, drafted in because of the injury nightmare keeping Ramsey, Wilhere, Arteta and the Ox out of the match day squad, deserves a huge round of applause for his contribution.

But as well as we did and for all the chances we created, Arsenal made hard work of this game. Alexis was amazing but his attempt to score from the penalty spot was so bad that it should mean that the Chile international never takes another. He was fantastic though and did win the penalty, scored the opener and made our second, so I will forgive him that weak penalty.

Giroud, on the other hand, is a lot harder to forgive for his petulant and stupid reaction that saw us have to struggle to the end of the game with 10 men. But it was our failure to fully capitalise on the amazingly one sided game that really struck me.

Wer should have been at least four goals up and the Gunners still looked like we had more men than QPR ater Giroud’s red but the fact is we made it a horrible and nervy finish and it should never have happened.

What should have been the perfect tonic to our recent woes turned out to raise a lot more questions and give us more problems to deal with. How typical of our season so far!

        1. Gutted Debuchy robbed me of a phone and shirt :'( Talk about doing it the hard way… MOTD will be interesting. Who said Friday fixtures was a bad idea? 2 CS in the 10 games, mental. Sanchez saves Arsenal and saves me from getting knocked out of the FPL cup haha!

        2. for me, rosicky >>>> flamini + welbeck + mertesacker…. with his 34 years has more balls and talent that many others players in the team right now…..

      1. Never in doubt 🙂
        Treble is still on.
        Sanchez the savior
        Wenger will rest Sanchez now.
        Until Sunday 🙂
        Welcome back Thomas.
        Giroud just following the managers
        example v Mourinho 🙂

        1. why are u so obsessed with huawei phone an who it goes to? uv mention it all day

          santa ignored u again davy?

its ok, you can buy toy story one from toys r us..pretend its real!

    1. he gets to avoid playing against 3 tough teams, west ham southampton an stoke. where he will undoubtedly go missing

      giroud is a smart guy.

      1. @Muff, true Diroud does have a way of vanishing unannounced, but at the moment I’d pick him over Welbeck.

        1. I never like to criticize the top goal scorer. And that is what Giroud has been for Arsenal, like it or not.

But Arsenal played BETTER with 10 men and without Giroud – at least in this game. That is not a good sign for Giroud’s future. But Wenger will easily shrug it off – he is just too in love with Giroud.

      1. Haha, true!

        Donkey Lampost it is then!

Rosicky and Sanchez were immense, although Sanchez should pass way more often.

      1. If that guy hadn’t flopped and stood up like a man. It would of been a yellow. They both should have gotten a yellow.

    1. Sadly, he is not even as good as he could be. Despite his excellence and quality he makes sometimes mistakes and dwells on the ball too long only because he is getting little helpe and feels so much pressure to do it all.

If Sanchez had some more help he would be even better. Maybe Ozil and Walcott can help.

      1. Sanchez just keeps losing the ball,I mean he loses the ball too often and he tries to do too much with the ball instead of making a decent pass, when it works out it is quality but when it doesn’t it just disgusts me,I am not taking anything from his performance today, but he is our best player on the pitch, its high time he started acting like it…and Rosicky for MOTM

  1. Sanchez saves us again. He plays like 2 players. Welbeck didnt play so Sanchez actually played like 3.
and doesnt wenger know when to substitute?

    1. We actually played better with 10 men.

With Giroud or without = 10 men. Although Welbeck and Flamini were there too.. Mind as well played with 8 players.

    1. resting his head on the qpr players warm body.
      isnt it obvious
      french affection is so misunderstood
      poor zidane knows the feeling

  2. Giroud should be fined heavily and his wages distributed among rest of the team for being the most stupidest man on earth today. I hope Wenger gives him a stern lesson afterwards. He is now banned for west ham Southampton and stoke games and almost cost us this one too. Other than that we were quite comfortable before his stupid act happened. The whole team was brilliant minus giroud.

  3. Cazorla and Rosicky were superb wow… And Sanchez was brilliant too, but he needs to work on his passing and learn when to hold on or pass the ball, he is still missing that pass..

  4. Good result today, average performance tbh. mozart was born to play for our club, I think he’s my favourite arsenal player after henry. would like to see coquelin get more game time, he seems quite tenacious and I still remember the game he was having before he got injured at chelsea couple seasons back, looks promising

    1. Welbeck is average.. Is he even a striker? When was the last time he scored a goal for us? The guy never looks like scoring..

    2. what a load of crap. Giroud is a better striker than Welbeck and was in great form. Its a shame he’s an idiot though. Welbeck is useless upfront and now we’re going to struggle again I feel.

    3. To be honest at present, even Giroud is more of a goal threat than Welbeck and that’s saying something. He needs serious work if he wants to retain and deserve a starting 11 spot. And I think its time we give Coquelin gets a go ahead of Flamini. What exactly does he do half of the games? He’s very poor and inconsistent to be a squad player let alone starting in games.

  5. Arsenal in their usual self, making things more difficult for themselves.

    Arsene knows best indeed! …..SMH

    1. I rarely thumb down but i just thumbed you down. What has Wenger done wrong again? Did we not win? Did we not play great football until Giroud wenr stupid? Did we not defend well and kept the lead? So explain your comment to me if you don’t mind.

      1. Well Wenger did not do anything wrong. But he does not do anything right either. He is just there in the club eating bananas worth 7 mil a year.

        1. actually today’s game showed up wenger’s philosophy of sticking with the same XI whenever possible: rosizscky needs totally to be played more. esp with these twice-a-week games. also: like another commenter, i also wonder if roz would be better than flam at DM [i know its a waste to put him there, but what can u do when ur manager has twice as many attackers as defenders in the squad?]

          1. Yes and Mourinho is being shown up as well by not rotating his players – very naive. You simply have to endlessly rotate to have a chance of winning anything. It is far better to play lesser or out of form players who are fresh and eager than keep playing your best X1 available. Not really sure what Wenger is playing at.

      1. its amazing isnt it!! 🙂 🙂

flamini against the worst sides in the league is good 🙂 🙂 🙂
against any other team he is crap :):)
        YAAAY 🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. I died and came back to life! JESUS!!!! F#CK you Giroud for giving me heart problems at this age! Still great performance by the boys and good defending! COYG!!! Now lets watch AOBs find a way to blame Wenger for our narrow victory 😀

      1. He’s taken part for the last 5 years.. How he is still playing is beyond me.

I’m going to say it out loud: waste of money..

        1. 16 million pound would buy u a slide that goes directly from your bedroom window into beyonce’s v*gina

  7. Watchin Arsenal is getting an expensive business…drinking before and after, it all adds up.
    Wish i had a £8m year job!

  8. Having only one fit cb is obviously impacting the shape and confidence of the whole team. Wenger needs to hold his hands up for not buying anyone.

Sending on Coq and Chambers to shore up a defence at home against QPR is a joke. While we won, this is definitely a low.

    1. ahhh come on, there always space for a new low!!

arsenal is the girl with low self esteem – that everyone thinks they can pull if they tell her shes fit

  9. We need to put absolutely EVERYTHING into beating West Ham on Sunday. We need Chelski to beat Southampton and a United and Spurs draw or (I hate to say it) maybe even a Spurs win and it’ll be a good Christmas.

  10. :::::FACTS TO TAKE HOME WITH:::::

    (1) Arsenal matches are sure gonna make u sit on d edge of ur seats sweating.

    (2) Most Arsenal bench warmers are impact players. E.g rosicky , poldi etc

    (3) We continue to suffer cuz of our defence.

    (4) Wenger will never make a sub until its past 80mins or the player gets injured.

  11. Giroud and Wenger were to blame for struggling at home against a bottom of the league side. This is laughable. Why did Wenger replace attackers with defenders when we’d lost an attacker? Our defence is a lot worse than our attack, so by doing this we were not able to get forward, anyone who did was stranded with no support, and we also invited them in to attack with no worry of having their goal threatened. Wengers tactics were entirely to blame for the amount of pressure. It was entirely different to the Anderlecht game where we were bombing forward leaving the back open, our defensive structure was not altered by the sending off. If you offer no attack, and invite the opposition to attack – surely there is more chance of losing, especially with our current defence!

      1. Couldnt understand a thing you posted. If you think Giroud should not be sold then let us be happy competing for top 4

  12. Good points and bad points from this game:
    Good:
    – 3 points. Not the best performance, but we held on and took care of business
    – Rosicky looked sharp in his return to the team. He links up very well with Cazorla, and what I like most about him is how direct he is. He make sour attack a bit quicker because he’s always looking to go forward.
    – Debuchy is a good addition to our team. Back in his natural RB position, he had a good day at the office (was unlucky to concede a pen that shouldn’t have been), but veyr pleased he is back healthy now.
    – Sanchez continues to play like a BEAST.
    – No reported injuries in this game, makes a nice change for us!

    Not so good points:
    – What was Giroud thinking???? Wasn’t even that bad of a challenge, but he reacted foolishly and will now miss the next 3 games. Would’ve looked even more stupid if his team-mates hadn’t gone out and got the win without him.
    – I don’t know about you guys, but Welbeck has looked a bit out of sorts lately. Maybe it’s adapting to a new wide role, but for me, he hasn’t been on top of his game lately. Maybe he just needs a rest.

    1. I still think Welbeck is a better player than Giroud ( LOL what a shame Manchester United 4th choice striker is better than our number 1) but I think Wenger bought the wrong striker from United. It would have been really good had we bought Hernandez. A perfect Goal poacher and he would have continued his good run to score against Chelsea.

      1. upside is welbeck will get 3 games at CF.
he started well there at start of season, so i expect he will come up good for us for the next 3 games. giroud is stupid as well as clumsy. not arsenal first XI material.

    2. Is everone here bonkers? OG was hit from behind with a blatant shove. Those are the type of actions that could have a player leave with serious injuries. Hi head almost hit the keepers knee. Why as whistle wasn’t blown right there I beyond me. That was so dirty. The ref blew that one in a big way.
Should he reacted that way no but the wrong player was shown a red.

  13. Sanchez, Cazorla and Rosicky played extremely well. Gibbs also put in a decent shift. Welbeck needs to be more selfish and have a shot every now and then but he holds and keeps the ball well. Perhaps Titi to come home and give him some pointers like he did with Walcott. Chambers no good at RB, gets beaten time and again from quicker wingers. When will Wenger learn this? Keep Debuchy RB and play Chambers central. When Kossie comes back, bench Mertesacker and play him alongside Chambers. Then I’d say our defense will be as solid as possible for the time being.

    1. With Giroud suspended and Ox injured. Does that mean a front 3 or Alexis, Welbeck and Walcott against West Ham?

  14. Good game from mozart,u culd just feel his hunger and desire! Good game Sanchez and Cazorla,

Welbeck isn’t contributing to attacks tho,he is just 1 more body on d field,

If Fer turned debuchy nd chambers inside out like dat, wonder wot d likes of hazard,di maria etc wuld do to them both

In all, good win! Happy xmas gunners!

  15. Chambers is so poor at Rb he gets beaten by any winger every single time. He also lets you put the crosses in.

  16. Wenger is genius…unleased Rosciky at the right time…double his salary, his contract and get him a Armani overcoat now Kronke u serial ranch accumulator!

  17. Best of Gunners??????? I want to see the best of Gunners against Man City or the Vincibles or Liverfool, this was QPR and we had to sweat (I mean the Fans) to take these 3 points….Truth is we should’ve been 4 – 0 against a terrible QPR BUT ONLY IF WE HAD GOOD STRIKERS with the DONKEY and WIDEBECK no way…ROSICKY and CAZORLA that is the winning key.

  18. City United and Chelsea are playing demolition boys and we are crying to beat a QPR at home. Yeah but we should not complain as everything is great.

  19. The lampost Giroud need to be sold ASAP.He has no contribution in the team, just a break for the attack-enough is enough, sell him!Chambers doesn’t justify the big money spent on him,he’s just average player,a boulevard for all the wingers in the league

  20. Season greetings to the arsenal family, the team actually played well even going down to 10 men. Giroud most face some serious punishment for getting that ridiculous red card , let him donate his pay to some good charity or even let him clean the showers. I think he should have apologise to fans over the intercom before the fans left the stadium.

Sanchez made some poor choices but was awesome at the same time, welbeck needs to learnt to get into better positions to suit his ability, but i still like the sanchez, giroud and welbeck attack it creates a lot of space for others. Cazorla was quietly awesome too. Rosicky i do not have to say anything about, he plays as how we the fans expect him to, so a marvelous player (if only we could take back 10 years off his age)

    Well off to sunday

  21. And please wenger don’t ever play Chambers on at RB, he came on again and got skinned, his body positioning is terrible, he is easily turned.

  22. Even with 10 men we should have been 3 up. Either by another penalty (foul on Mertesacker) or another Sanchez chance, then a Welbekc chance similar to the one Sanchez had couple minuted before. Then another one where instead of cutting back to Cazorla( I think) Sanchez looks one way then gives a ball to Rosicky who was running towards the byline behind him.

  23. Whatever you say about Flamini, atleast he shows some kind of leadership skills for us. He also cleared of the line in this game vs QPR as well. The problem is Flamini, instead of trying to stay in the DMF position, he easily gets dragged to wide areas. leaving his original position uncovered. Today Cazorla helped him out as well. I think Giroud then Welebck were the worst players today.

      1. Yes, thats leadership. Shouting and commanding is part of that, but to be a good one, you need to be a good player your self, and not a burden to others. Cant blame him though, when he was at his best, he was nothing more then a bench player at Arsenal, and nowdays he is a starter at Arsenal bec of Wenger refusing to bring us a new guy.

  24. Still no clean sheet for Szczesny. It’s been so long now. We’ve won games but we always concede.

  25. I feel privledged to watch Tomas Rosicky.

I understand being sent off and missing next game but 3 games i think is too much.

  26. Off topic is it true that Arsenal will go for Cavani someone respon please cuz didn’t see it on Arsenal.com just want to make sure that the information is true.

    1. I hope so. We desperately need a world class striker. City has Aguero, Chelsea has Costa, United has RVP and Falcao.

    1. I believe due to the amount of competitions we are in that wenger could be trying to avoid overplaying key players but at the same time adapting new members to the team so they can gel.

I would like to think its true so we can see more of rosicky podolski and cambell walcott in the coming days/weeks.

Pray for a busy transfer window.

      Coyg

  27. For someone who have not have much game time, he surely looked quite good and was following the pace of the game quite easily, rosicky really is a treasure

  28. Nice match Sanchez, Mozart. WTF was Giroud thinking? Nice running around Welbeck… you didn’t do much else. 3 pts in the bag… a nailbiter against *cough* 16th place *cough* QPR. Gunner domination but no final end product.

  29. In times like this that when we should support all our players and get behind the team to give them the believe they need…Things could be worse, take a look at Dortmund.

  30. Watching Spurs vs Leicester on MOTD. Saying Spurs were lucky is a massive understatement. Almost miraculous that they won..

  31. Qpr at home and a nail biter! 3 points I’m delighted with and although we have a number of key players still out we are currently a mid table/Europa league team. The January window can’t open quick enough. #bfgout.

  32. Wenger Out he has not got a clue he sat there with a glazed look on his face.
As for Giroud no brain every player on the team should be allowed to kick he hard in the nut’s.
