Arsenal v Tottenham Player Ratings – The Ozil and Sanchez show

Well after such a fantastic team performance with eveery single Arsenal player contributing to a perfect win over our noisy neighbours, who are not so vocal about a “power shift” this morning!

Petr Cech 7
I bet he didn’t think he would have such an easy game with all the hype about Kane, Alli and Eriksen, but he did what he had to do when Kane and Alli got close…

Hector Bellerin 8
One of his best performances this season. Made a lot of space on the wing….

Laurent Koscielny 8
I am so glad he passed his fitness test. Arsenal’s rock at the back…

Shkodran Mustafi 8
Another returning star who scored with a brilliant header. Brilliant in attack and defence…

Nacho Monreal 8
His usual steady performance. If we can keep these three together all season we can only go up in the table

Sead Kolasinac 8
As strong as ever. He didn’t look so decisive today only because everybody else stepped up!

Aaron Ramsey 8
Is he our most improved player this season? He is definitely gaining in consistency. Just needs some more goals..

Granit Xhaka 8
I was worried when he got booked early but kept his composure and his partnership with Ramsey is looking better every week…

Mesut Ozil 9
Brilliant record-making performance. Assisted both goals bring give his career total to 200. Can you cme back every week please Mesut?

Alexandre Lacazette 7
The one disappointment of the day for me. Didn’t seem to be on the ball, lacked a pit of pace and power

Alexis Sanchez 9
Won the free-kick for the first goal, and scored the second from an impossible position. Masterclass from the Chilean

SUBS

Francis Coquelin 7
Tactical change that just tightened things up a little in the middle

Alex Iwobi – Not enough time to rate, but missed a lovely chance to make it 3

  1. The only thing alexandre lacazette lacked was a goal.
otherwise he was amazing running at the tottenham defenders, good assist, drifted out wide to create space for ozil and sanchez.

    very good mobile CF.

            1. Alexis proved Arsene right with what he said about Stirling. There was heavier contact on Alexis and it was from a bigger guy, compared with Monreal v Stirling who was not going as fast neither. Stirling went to ground, nothing else was on his mind. Alexis had hunger on his mind, to get that shot off. And they say foreigners are the cute ones, Stirling runs like a woman, fakes like a woman, and goes to ground like a little old girl.

  2. It seems churlish to be critical of Arsenal yesterday, but they should really have won at least 4-0. For all the great approach work, we still do not finish enough of them. Things that need to be addressed are
    1) Hector Bellerin needs to practice more on delivering a telling cross after his great runs. He wastes many of the great situations he creates too many times
    2) I could not believe that Alex Iwobi scored two goals against Argentina mid-week; he wasted two very good chances yesterday and his shooting should be much better than it is.
Perhaps it is time to give Eddie Nketiah a run out, at least from the bench. He did save our bacon against Norwich and is looking very sharp scoring loads for ours and Englands youth teams
Here’s is a thought; what are the chances that we retain our magic threesome of Sanchez, Lacazette and Ozil. If they all stayed at the club and continued to play as they did yesterday the the trophies they desire would roll into their laps

    1. I too like Eddie and would point out that great goalscorers show that instinct at a very early age, like Nketiah. I do believe Eddie should now be a regular sub and if and when we have the luxury of making subs with the game safe, he would be a player I would be giving as much playing time as possible. I don’t say he is yet ready to start in PL but………!

  3. Why is it when we play rubbish, the ratings are pretty generous, and then we put in a complete performance yesterday, and there’s only two ‘9 ratings’, and no ’10’ rating? How on earth can Coquelin get a ‘7’, whilst the likes of Mustafi, and Koscielny only get an ‘8’?

I would have given Ozil, and Mustafi (first game back since his injury, let’s not forget) a 10 rating.

    1. Koscielny was -as always- superb. But it was Mustafi that was our rock at the back yesterday. He found a way to somehow block Harry Kane’s one on one with Cech!!… the best chance he had to score yesterday.

Deserves a 10 rating for me.

    2. Yes a 10 is 100%. Where did Ozil miss the point that he didn’t score 10? Ozil of all players that tracked back and put a shift? Made Ericksen look like me in comparison? Delivered a perfect assist that gave us confidence? Add that 1 point, he’s on 10.

  4. Heh as much as Ozil had a superb game… Lacazette didn’t have a bad one.

    “Mesut Ozil 9
Brilliant record-making performance. Assisted both goals bring give his career total to 200. Can you cme back every week please Mesut?”

So Ozil is the player wearing our 9 right now??

Bellerin had d ball, and Lacazette called for it while making the run in, he controlled d ball with his left, took it to the side before Squaring the ball out to Sanchez who scored.

So I don’t see the disappointment in his performance, apart from not scoring, and I won’t remind u he played less minutes than Ozil and the rest.
So u don’t know which Match you watched before ya’ll saying Ozil assisted both goals n Lacazette was disappointing

      1. Unless Ozil was the player in the number 9 Jersey that assisted Sanchez in the second goal then I’ll say you’re spot on but if Ozil wasn’t the player in the 9 Jersey who assisted d 2nd goal, I don’t get your point!!
How did Ozil get the assist for Sanchez’s goal??

or you’re still basking in the euphoria eh?

        1. Don’t know what admin smoking at the Emirates, but Lacazette got the 2nd assist.

Maybe watch the game again hey!

      2. Well well @admin, you gotta admit your mistake here.

Özil assisted the first goal only, while Lacazzette assisted the second goal for Sánchez after he (Laca) made the run through the right channel. Ballerin (he was superb) started the move.

BY NO MEANS WAS LACCAZETTE DISSAPOINTING YESTERDAY. Except that he did not register a goal… and we can’t expect him to do that week in week out.

    1. Ozil only created one assist and it was from a set-piece, not from an open play. Lacazette created a second assist, after receiving a good through ball from a Gunner (Bellerin or Xhaka?).

    1. A reason for people to say that might be because of what was said during the game. If it turns out that he actually had a good game then it looks like those people don’t even know what they do be watching ..or they’re so used to being on that same page that they don’t even know how to begin another chapter ..not even with a little hindsight.

Maybe admin should do a poll to see what they made of Xhaka’s game – Excellent – Good – Decent – Bad –
We can try to get to the bottom of this. No overall feelings influencing matters, just one game. Just one awesome game.

  5. Isn’t is great to be having academic minor disagreements as to which player deserved more and which less! Being a lifelong bigmouth , I will also have my say, but first , the overall performance by all eleven who started, featured all of them at or very near their best and that is a very potent combination and rarely happens ,in any team, in my experience. I have to give MotM to Mustafi, beyond doubt and award him an eleven out of ten! I thought Tony Adam had returned and grown a beard, so special was he. Being very nitpicky indeed you could give no one less than an eight and I personally thought all deserved a nine at least with Mustafi, Ozil, Sanchez on ten and Mustafi, being MotM, should actually get an eleven! And glory of glories, even our famous or infamous manager, depending on your view, deserves huge praise for once. This may be the last time I ever praise Wenger and the last time was ages ago . But credit where it is due. One down beat but relevant point though about the reason for two outstanding perfs by Sanchez and Ozil is the phrase “shopwindow” in this vital match.

  6. Probably my favorite list of ratings for over a very very long time. Just a pity that Lacazette wasn’t allowed to finish the game and get in on the act. Alexis and Ozil, so much stuff has been said about those two that it has us all in three minds at times. When I see them like this, I say to myself, definitely more should’ve been done in bridging that gap to the megabuck teams. With a CM that can support defence consistently well like the best of them, as well as getting the ball forward quickly and or patiently, then the right type of wingers, Lacazette was a great buy but not the finishing touch Arsene would’ve pondered on.

  7. Ozil MOM for me, 9.
    Cech brilliant today, 8.
Laca ran the spurs defence all over the place and made so much space for Alexis and Ozil, deserves at least 8.

  8. Admin is right abt Laca it got to a stage it was clear he was so tired couldn’t chase ball better again, manager didn’t have choice than to sub him. However, overall great performance from him n others, more so, I don’t kno why ppl r not talking abt our keeper, wow peter was great. Ozil, Sanchez n mustafi great performance
