Arsenal vs Burnley Preview, Line up and Score Prediction

Arsenal vs Burnley Preview, Line up and Predicted score by KJ

It’s a bit odd to go a full week without football in between but Arsenal were knocked out of the League Cup fairly early by Southampton and were afforded a week’s rest. It’s a blessing in disguise really considering the multitude of injuries we have at the moment.

We are still a very disjointed team and this has affected us quite negatively in the smaller games against Leicester, Hull and Tottenham. There was no relentlessness in the way we attacked or created chances against teams that largely sat back. This is down to the fact that we aren’t a properly coherent team yet and I don’t know when we’ll “click”.

Cazorla, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain (in the absence of Wilshere) will need to step up massively against Burnley as these games are won by good work by the midfield. Winning the ball back and playing precise balls to the forwards. Our defence is in still quite a bit of a mess but with Arteta back, I’m not as worried as I was when we had Flamini starting.

Line up:
Szczesny
Chambers – Mertesacker – Monreal – Gibbs
Arteta
Sanchez – Ramsey – Chamberlain – Cazorla
Welbeck

Chambers will seriously need to up his game if we’re going to survive without Debuchy. He is looking really rigid but Burnley is a good chance to gain some attacking confidence.

Monreal has been surprisingly decent at centre back and I can’t see Burnley testing him too much.
Arteta will hopefully intelligently shield the back 4 as well as dictating the pace of the game. His ball retention will hopefully allow us to take the sting out of the game after we score or possibly concede.

Like I said before, we need to see Ramsey and The Ox really penetrating the opposition with good passing and movement.

This game shouldn’t be difficult at all but considering things are a bit iffy performance wise, I could see this ending as a tight 1-0 to the Gunners.

Guys, just in case anyone of you is in looking for @Admin, plz note that he’s unavailable for now, ok?

I’ve gone out with @Admin on a date, won’t be back in a long while.

Tnx to @Admin for posting my article, tnx to all of u that liked it. And for all that were unimpressed, I do promise to get Alexised and improve. #COYG!!!

    2. If, as KJ suggests, we play Monreal at CB we won’t have a clean sheet.
Don’t know what the KJ was smoking saying Monreal was ‘decent’ there, he was truly awful.
Then KJ says that Chambers is ‘rigid’ of all things.
Chambers is a bigger talent at 19 than Monreal is.

Lastly “people will need to step up in the absence of Wiltshire” WTF???
Like Wiltshire has contributed to what this season apart from the falling over and being dispossessed?

  1. Coyg 3-0 to arsenal
Ot I wrote an article about 2 months ago on another arsenal site and just thought I share it with you guy as to the reason I believe why wenger signed a new contract in 2 and a half years time pep will be ready to leave bayern and he will become our new manager I’m 100% sure that this will happen I’m willing to sound like a muppet if it don’t so all you WOB boys just let wenger finish he’s contract and get behind the team cause the best thing comes to those who wait COYG in wenger I trust

      1. Maybe being a bit silly saying im a 100% sure but I think it will be the perfect job for him and I don’t see the point of him going to city or Chelsea after he managed barca and bayern I think he will need a challenge and we will fit the bill and the timing of it all fits perfect he would of been at bayern for 4 years and wenger won’t sign another contract even if he win pl or cl so I believe pep will love to manage us

        1. There is no doubt that managers such as Pep and Mourhino win trophies, although Pep likes to take on a team at the top, no projects for him.
          BUT
They encourage the type of player that we don’t like, Drogba and Robben to name 2 go to ground in a light breeze. Great players who will never be thought of without images of them diving.
I know a lot of managers see it as part of the modern game to ‘look’ for fouls but I wouldn’t like to see Arsenal play that way.

Gotta respect Klopp for just playing attacking football and no drama queen antics on the pitch.

    1. @61 never again.
“the best thing comes to those who wait “.

Not really sure about that statement. However, it is still deep.

Problem is, I am a huge Wenger fan. A huge fan of his person (don’t be fooled, many “WOBs” are). So before he retires, I really want him to prove to the likes of Mourinho that he’s still got it him.
Before he retires, he needs to win the EPL or ECL for me!

      1. @Usmanov, most folks really don’t get it when one criticises Wenger. Truth be told, Wenger has been damn phenomenal for AFC and I thank him for all his good works.

However, the very troubling thing about Wenger is that he changed. He just changed like a good man beaten by an evil vampire. Now I just have problems with most (if not all) the decisions he makes becuz they turn out to be pragmatically counterproductive and he would stubbornly stick to one rusty idea forever.

Football has gone digital, but Wenger is still analogue.

  2. Szez
    bellerin chambers mert monreal
    Ramsey flamini
    Ox. Cazorla. Sanchez
    Danny
This won’t happen but this is the best team and formation we can play today

  3. gush!…… Our Tactics could be so predictable and the players are weak as well (oh dat doesn’t include him…u knw who i mean) and this weakness is affecting the Line-ups and result ….. Sanchez must not be the only one willing to sweat it out while the others are out buying ice-creams

  4. “We are still a very disjointed team and this has affected us quite negatively in the smaller games against Leicester, Hull and Tottenham”

We’ve played Tottenham this season? Can’t recall. Strange.

  5. I don’t particularly want Chambers to be better at attacking, I would rather he concentrated on defending, we need to keep more clean sheets, especially against the weaker teams.

  6. We should be winning this one “quite” (and I said “quite”) comfortably 😉
Wilshere is not playing, so the margin of errors in the middle will be minimal and we will really play 11 against 11.

When he is not playing the side pick itself easily. Unless Wenger finds a way to f*ck it up again…

    Quick and comfortable 2-0.

  7. Poor line up
Gibbs should be rested for CL midweek
Monreall should play at LB he’s no CB
Hayden/Chambers at CB this is the game to play Hayden. IMO
Chaimbo benched and start Campbell he will work hard, has something to prove and will give the side balance.
Then Corzola will be given instructions work hard and plenty of shots, or he’s coming sit on the bench at HT
Let’s play a very high tempo 1 touch game

  8. Why not put Chambers at CB and Bellerin as RB?
And either put Monreal on the bench or LB and rest Gibbs. Monreal is much better at LB than CB. Bellerin has proven he is good at RB.

Also put OX on the wing and Cazorla in the centre.

  9. If this is the line up we should still win but we are making it unnecessarily harder than it should be.
    1. Monreal isn’t a CB. Put him LB (rest Gibbs)
    2. Cazorla should be number 10
    3. We need to utilise either Podolski, Campbell, Walcott at some point during the match. With playing Burnley after a weeks rest and Champions League within days, it makes sense to rest a few players and play guys who are talented and haven’t had much match time.

  10. Firstly I’d like to see a few of our fringe players come in, rosicky, poldi, campbell. As for the score I cant predict it any more we’ll either win 4-0 or lose 2-1 depends which team turns up! Hoping for an aggressive andcconvincing win and masterclass today. Let’s show Burnley what we are capable of when we’re on it, coyg!!!
