Arsenal WILL sign striker but NOT one of these!!

I wonder if the Arsenal transfer rumours about us and the young Argentinean striker Paulo Dybala will now stop, after Arsene Wenger answered them with an emphatic negative in his press conference ahead of today’s match against Liverpool. Probably not, because the president of Dybala’s current club Palermo comes up with a new soundbite for the media every week, usually involving Arsenal.

Call me cynical if you like, many people do, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the Italian club could be trying to generate transfer interest and bump up the price of their promising player. He looks good to be fair but the asking price of nearly £30 million is just crazy for such an untried striker and so Wenger is right to look elsewhere.

That is still in Italy according to a Metro report, with the focus of our interest now supposedly the AC Milan star Stephane El Shaarawy. Once again no thanks. He may have talent but right now is low on confidence and shorn of form and that is not the sort of risk Arsenal need to be taking if we want to challenge for the Premier League and improve in the Champions League.

Are there any strikers out there actually scoring goals who will not cost the earth? There must be and I suspect that our manager will be keeping tabs on them.

  1. 1. Of course Arsene would NEVER deny transfer rumors or interest, even if they are true.
    2. Of course most of the press is probably coming from Palermo or Dybala’s agent. Teams and agents often name big clubs that can help a player’s value. It is both true and false because there are probably signs that big clubs are watching, but they also watch any promising young talent across Europe.
    3. Arsene has proven that he will pay for the players he really wants, if he has the cash, but if he doesn’t feel like they are a special player or are seriously overvalued he will likely pass and wait for a better player or a better price.

Like it or not, it is unlikely Arsene will pay so much for Dybala when there are younger, cheaper players with just as much potential out there. But if he feels like Dybala really is a special talent, he will pursue it.

The speculation is ridiculous at this time of year. Nothing will happen for months either way.

  2. Rather we bought a defender than a striker if I’m honest, and a defensive midfielder too. Scoring 5 more goals a season will win us fewer points than conceding 10 less. When have we not been able to score this season? 1 game. How many games have we failed to keep a clean sheet? I’ve lost count. There’s far more scope for improvement defensively than offensively in our team, so that’s where we should focus, even if it’s not as exciting, it’s just as important, if not more so.

  3. My vote is drop £35m on Reus, loan them gnabry to soften the loss, and groom Danny for the ST role from next year on. Can you imagine a front 4 of…
    ……………Giroud…………….
    ….Reus……Ozil……Sanchez….

We would have insane depth too.

  4. We don’t need more strikers. we have more than we can use; Giroud, Akpom, Sanogo, Podolski, Campbell. if we need proven ones, we should go for Messi, Falcao, Suarez, Bale, all of those have hinted on moving out of their current clubs

    1. Let alone our realistic thought, Messi, Suarez, and Bale are great. They won’t come here surely. But Falcao? Do you ever watch ManUre these days? Their attacking football is good as a rumble in the bar. An absolute shit. Falcao? He might be hidden under the table during the rumble. HAHAHAHA…

  5. I would like to see our lineup today accomodates both Coq, Ramsey, Ozl and Carzola for the same case i wl prefer Welbeck upfront to keep the balance btn ofensive and defensive play. So this is my lineup: Ospna, Berellin, Kos, Gabriel, Mon, Coq, Ramsey, Ozil, Carzola, Sanchez and Welbeck. I would like to start with our best player of the month but starting Giroud means you drop one of Ozl, carzola or Ramsey which is not tactical to this game.

  6. Dybala could bring us different attacking approach. His skill completed with pace, and he’s a free kick taker too. He’s a star in the making. A striker of his style (Tevez, Suarez, Aguerro, or Messi) is very rare. And they aren’t cheap.
However it’ll be a BIG gambler for Arsene to cash in the 40M euro offer. For me, Dybala is a “sign now or regret later” footballer. He’ll be that damn good.
