Arsenal will still survive without Ozil and Alexis – Take it or leave it

Fear not Gooners, Arsenal will survive next season without Sanchez and Ozil by SK

Gooners, the news about Sanchez and Ozil wanting to sign a new contract with Arsenal or not, is really unsettling the minds of fans and probably players of this club. I think we need to take a break and ask ourselves if we really need to be bothering ourselves over two players who are not really bent on staying with us for any more seasons.

Before we became financially buoyant enough to hold on to our players against pressure to sell from other clubs, we were actually a selling club and we lost a lot of our star players due to that. We lost Thierry Henry to Barcelona, we lost Emmanuel Adebayor to Man City, we lost Van Persie to Man Utd, we lost Gael Clichy to Man City, we lost Ashley Cole to Chelsea and several other players. All these players were top players that could have won us trophies if we had kept all of them together for a long time. We didn’t win trophies but we also didn’t do badly at all. We still maintained our status as one of the big boys in both the Premiership and in Europe. Qualifying for the champions league every season is not an easy feat.

We back to the ugly part of those seasons whereby supposed star players hold us to ransom whenever we wish to offer them a new contract. They make ridiculous demands and thereby put us in a fix. Giving us the option to either give in to their demands or watch them leave. If I were to tip in a piece of advice to the Arsenal board, I simply tell them to offer them a take it or leave it deal. Arsenal does not need anybody to still be Arsenal. These players need us and we must show them the true picture.

Mesut Ozil was a Real Madrid player before he came to Arsenal and judging by his recent confessions in his new book, he begged Arsene Wenger to sign him, in order to save his career. If Wenger had not signed him, he may probably have been on the bench for a long time until another club came looking for him. Arsenal came to his rescue when he needed it and now he is holding the same club who bailed him out to ransom? No! It cannot be so. He needs to realize that relationships work when both parties know when to meet the demand of the other.

Alexis Sanchez is another player who should be grateful to Arsenal from taking him away from Barcelona where he was a fringe player to coming to Arsenal to play regular football. His petulant manner may even be an unbalancing factor this season.

These guys need to think twice before leaving Arsenal because Arsenal gave them their career lift. Gooners, we can actually survive without these two next season, can’t we?

  1. It’s unfortunate that local players at Arsenal have failed to develop in winners . Just imagine remaining with , Ox , Walcott, Chamberlain, Gibbs , Jenkinson , Chambers, Welbeck , Wilshere and Ramsey. People talk about potential ,despite the fact that these players have been given countless opportunities but they have failed to become anywhere near worldclass. These overrated can not take Arsenal anywhere even with a good coach . What is interesting is that despite playing at Arsenal for many years no one even which position is best for players like Walcott, Ox, Wilshire , Welbeck , Chambers etc.

    1. I think another manager can bring some of those players to the next level. I think Ox has shown that he has potential in the middle.

    2. Good point…interesting to note all the names you mention are the british core !
Complacency reigns with these guys because of inflated wages. The example of jenkinson not moving because he was offered less than he is getting here says it all. Walcott, 10 years over and has he really improved ? Only when it seems to come round to contract negotiation time or when he is in the shop window like the first half the other night. Sorry, but players nowadays are pampered …witness the sutton united manager laughing on tv about our players each having a bodyguard ffs ! Nowadays they are more worried about their hair or the next tattoo or is it next to be a ferrari or an aston martin ? They all know, being british, they will always be in demand wherever they go.
Look at the attitude of south american stars like messi, aguero, even our sanchez…all hungry because the only alternative is probably a life on the streets

    3. I’m sorry but did you watch the Ox and Walcott play the other night? Both have really improved this season. Ramsey’s work rate compared to Ozil against Bayern was one reason we looked so much better. I could go on, but all this whining about good players who just haven’t developed due to injury is starting to irritate me. (Incidentally the Ox is the same as Chamberlain, or perhaps you are confusing him with two other players?)

  2. Arsenal has a very rich history. I think some of our fans need to be reminded that. Footballers are like that this days thet want money and if Walcott can earn 130000 and giroud 130000 how much should ozil and sanchez earn? They hve not kept the club at Ransom as you say but its a fact they can earn more than what we are offering so it is arsenal that hve done an error. Players are overpaid this days do i dont understand when you say they hve kept the club at ransom. I think what os really unsettling the fans is Wenger hehe i dont know why we are trying to find other reasons for it

    1. 100% correct. Sanchez is at par with Aguero or better in terms of contribution to goals and ahead of Rooney, why should he play for less than those gus are earning? 180 a week is a joke and an insult, it’s an insult to the fans as well. Didn’t we claim we could compete financially with the top clubs? Yet we expect the players to give us a discount on their salary? Guys like Sanchez with his background didn’t come here to play for the pockets of Kroenke, he earns for his family and he wants to win. Now he is being told he is not worth 190 a week and he can see that we will never win anything with this owner. Anyone surprised he goes looking for a competitive team?

It is time we start writing articles about surviving without this owner, before Sanchez arrived we had the same problems ask Cesc, RVP, Nasri, Sagna, Clichy, etc, we also had the same owner.

It is a ridiculous demand to ask Sanchez to play for 180 per week in this market, he knows this will be his last big contract for him and his family and he knows what he is worth and is not 180 per week.

      1. BBC website gossip column now saying Arsenal have now offered Ozil 280,000 a week !!!???…if true maybe reality has finally dawned on the board.

  3. yes of course, we lived w out henry, RvP, Nasri, Cesc… bring in the right manager, he will build if we give him patience, btw you think barca is still interested in wenger, ?

  4. Arsenal can not survive without these two players. Even with them we are not surviving. Imagine which player Wenger will buy to replace these two world class players.

Sure people are not impressed with Ozil, but is some of that not how he is managed? Germany littered with talented players still choose Ozil in their WC winning starting 11. Part of the reason Ozil is struggling is how the rest of the team plays. Ozil struggles because our team can no longer control midfield.

Anyway the message the departure of Ozil and Sanchez would send to the rest of the world would do nothing to convince any Griezman or WC player to come win trophies at Arsenal.

A lot of Arsenal fans are so delusional that they actually think playing for Arsenal is enough of an attraction for a world class player. It is not. Believe it or not, world class players want to win something during their short careers.

So to think the departure of both Ozil and Sanchez becasue they didn’t want to sign new contracts is not bad and to think we will survive is silly. If these to guys leave we will be weaker next season because they will not be able to be replaced.

  5. Survive – Yes…Progress- i doubt it.
We sold RVP and he wont the leugue for Man U…imagine if we had not sold him and brought in some quality defenders at that time (or maybe a quality manager)…

  6. Alexis has disappointed me greatly over the last few games. I want him gone now unless he does a complete turnaround, apologising, and then declared his loyalty to help making Arsenal great again. I’ve seen players being disrespectful before, but nothing so petulant as a player who’s in the form Alexis is in. I really do believe we can miss out the CL places this time out. I reckon Alexis could be a reason for that, sounds strange because he’s looking for golden boot, but he’s also a reason why theirs disharmony among the players. He’s laughing at them from sidelines, I can imagine how training must be going. I honestly believe if it were Fergie he would drop him from the squad and make him train with the youngsters. Chelsea last season, they looked worse off than us now, how would the great Alexis have handled that one.

    1. Totally agree. I watched the team warm up at the Emirates before the Watford FA cup game last season, and while the entire squad were dutifully doing the correct stretches Alexis was gazing into the distance doing a few half-hearted hip wiggles. Nobody seemed to pull him up on it and I thought it was a terrible example for the young players in the squad.

  7. I would rather the article read;
‘Arsenal will survive without Arsene and the current Board.’

  8. Ozil I pray we don’t keep. I know it will look worse having your two star names leave in same window, but we need a rebuild and it should not be around such a one sided player. Arsenal are going to have to claw their way back, Ozil should head off somewhere for a manicure.
