So the big game is finally upon us, and we can but hope that the Gunners soothe Arsenal fans nerves very quickly once they finally get on the famous Anfield pitch.

This is the team I predicted in my Preview earlier, and unless Arteta tries to spring one of his surprises to catch Jurgen Klopp out, I honestly don’t think we will see anything different.

This was my prediction…

Ramsdale
White..Gabriel..Holding..Zinchenko
Odegaard..Partey..Xhaka
Martinelli..Jesus..Saka

I know a lot of people have been discussing whether Trossard should start ahead of Jesus, but I’m pretty sure that Leandro knows he was always going to return to being backup once Jesus returned to full fitness, so let’s have a look at the official team chosen by Arteta.

And here it is….

And here is Liverpool’s line-up…

  1. Nervous about this game……we need to win this game or at worse draw………good luck guys.

  2. Zinny at left back in an inverted role.
No problem. We just have to be very disciplined when defending and defend collectively.
No avoidable individual error on pitch today.
Boys let’s go! We can do it!
    COYG!!!

  3. Great to see Jesus in the lineup – Liverpool are extremely inconsistent. How can a team thrash Man United 7-0 – and then lose and draw against very average teams. I am very cautious about this fixture – it will be won or lost by a goal – Hopefully to Arsenals advantage 🙂

  4. This is the first time I am nervous at this level in this season, but I hope we win

  5. If we win today, we’ll have just 1 tricky match left (ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL)

i.e – I count out our away match against Man City, assume the worst happen there and we lose

so it will be just Newcastle away that will be tricky for us (knowing they’ve hit another level of form – more bullyish and now scoring more goals)

    ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL means:
    – I don’t rate Chelsea
    – Brighton are very good but they open-up their games for goals – so we should be able to outscore them
    – And I’m hoping we win the other 4 matches

    1. Yes, also very unlikely that City will get full points from all of their fixtures. Especially when they have CL and FA matches upcoming.

      1. I’m not sure

        Let’s not deny
This business-end of the season have seen some teams step-it-up

Man City being one of them
They’ve been blowing everybody away with plenty goals recently

  6. This is the first time I am nervous at this level in this season, but I hope we win! I have good feelings

  7. Glad to see Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool’s starting line-up and Henderson seems tasked to protect him

Hopefully Xhaka, Martinelli and Zinchenko have a plan to surprise them on the break

    1. I want Arsenal to win always but just you mentioned about Henderson and TAA then I think Klopp should realise that TAA cannot defend so I think he should start Joe Gomez as RB and TAA as Right side CM..
This will offload some defensive responsibilities in TAA and he will can used as very lethal weapon going forward as know how dangerous he can be while sending balls in box…
So Midfield should be Henderson, Fabinho and TAA

  8. My heart is already pumping like hell even before kick off
    Very frightened…
I have not felt this much frightened even when I was watching horror movie..
I hope we will win today..

    1. I suggest a gentle head massage to relieve your tension 😉
I’m nervous too, by the way

  9. Hoolding worries me, this should be a high scoring game. Hopefully we score more than our opponent today. COYG….

  10. The Key to this match will be to completely dominate that weak liverpool midfield hence keeping them pinned down. Their attack is strong and deadly on the counter but if we lock down the midfield and Martinelli kills arnold on the wing, they will get no support and salah will be forced to drop back to bail arnold out.

Gabriel will have to be very careful when Liv get the ball in transition, avoid rash tackle on salah better to trust ramsdale to stop him than last ditch tackle who could result in a red card. Remember paul tierney is the ref!

    1. Fabinho has been bang average all season, he is their partey/rodri/casemiro. Henderson is being phased out of the starting 11,Thiago has missed half the matches and Milner finally got old. My bet is Liverpool put all the marbles on Bellingham and thought they could ride out this season and buy him. They expected a drop in level but never expected it would be this bad

      1. I don’t think Liverpool will get Bellingham if they don’t get CL football…
He should be at least targeting CL football…

  11. I still unable to understand how this year Liverpool’s midfield performing so poorly..
These are the same group of Midfielders who were dominating whole PL until last year…
Same personnels but they are looking so poor this season..

  12. I hope there are no blunders from Ref and VAR…
Please do not ruin today’s game…
VAR has already cost us 2 points against Brentford..
We would have been already 7 points ahead of City with same number of games played if VAR hadn’t done that blunder in Brentford match..

    1. That deliberate error by Lee mason still pisses me off but i use the rashford offside vs city as a kind of balancing it out.

  13. Holding were screwed a blind man could see this game is 2 big 4 him he’ll be off after 20 mins off=red

    1. Sorry, disagree with you here. Holding has been solid when he’s played this season. Absolute professional and deserves our backing. He may not be a starter when Saliba is fit but we need squad players that can step in at a moment’s notice and put in the kind of performances we’ve seen so far

    2. More worried about Zinchenko, Salah will have him on toast. Would prefer Tierney while we defend the lead, Zinchenko doesn’t inspire confidence.

As I type this, TAA toasts Zinchenko and match tied. Been picking on that side all game and the hole Zinchenko leaves.

  14. Liverpool’s recent record at Anfield is very good..
They have won 5 out of 6 at Anfield and hadn’t conceded a single goal in 7 and half hours..
This is going to be a hell of tough game..

    1. Liverpool’s recent form at home has not been that great. They beat Man u and wolves, lost to Real Madrid, beat Everton, drew with Chelsea, drew with Wolves. Anfield not the fortress everyone is banging on about

      1. But just seeing the atmosphere making me more and more nervous…
My apple watch is showing heart beat of 121

  15. Folarin Balogun scored a late 90 minute plusv1 goal for Reims at home to equalise against Brest. That Balogun’s goal brings his tally for Reims to 17 this season.
In our Epl big game away to Liverpool today. It’s going to be Reds 1-3 Arsenal. Or Reds 0,-2 Arsenal at full-time.

  16. Holding did extremely poorly there. He got drawn backwards and should have gone with the runner behind him. Not a glaring error, but, still

    1. Actually if you know anything about football you’ll see that’s a run from midfield and Ode didn’t go with Jota and just stopped tracking him. Gabriel has 2 players to watch.

Go watch the goal again….or do you think midfielders don’t need to track there runners all the way back?

  17. Lots of fouls by Liverpool this half
Listening to Neville he can hardly contain his joy that Liverpool are back in the game.

    1. Lots of diving from us too! We’ve stopped playing footy since we’ve been flopping around.

Once again Xhaka the one that stopped us playing football and actually has helped Liverpool by getting them fired up. Idiot…

    1. Lol are you blind. Who has gotten worse since all of that rubbish started? Arsenal!

  18. Granit Xhaka!
I thought this guy is now reborn.
Still some remnants of the old character. Pls hang in there for the remaining 45mins. We don’t want an unnecessary red card.

  19. Arsenal played like champions in the first thirty minutes, but Liverpool showed that their attack is still one of the best in EPL and their supporters are the loudest

Martinelli is a generational talent. We’re lucky to have him for another four years

Jesus seemed to have gone back to his previous level. The boys need to be careful because White and Xhaka have got yellow cards

  20. Arsenal need to calm down and play with the ball. I don’t understand why they are getting so hyper when we are leading. Remain calm and focus on task in hand. Last thing you want is this crowd up and act as 12th man.

  21. Might need to sub Xhaka for ESR – they tried to provoke him, they will try again

    1. He provokes himself! There was a potential foul that didn’t go his way and he decides to kick TAA for no reason.

      1. No – he was pushed and shoved twice – yes it would’ve been a free kick, and he shouldn’t have reacted

  22. Come on, we got this. Leading by a goal at half time, Van Dijk, Trent and Robertson all on yellow cards. I’m looking forward to the second half. Come on Arsenal ❤️🤍

  23. Take off Xhaka n bring on Gorgie, we need experience n calmness to manage the game in second half. Don’t need to go blow to blow with pool.

  24. Need tricky players to get the reds sent off. I wish we had someone like Mane who could end players games by elbows and still be on the pitch. But there have been a lot of improvement regarding the game management/dirty tactics by the team. I think if we calm down and just continue to press liverpool and get that 3rd, I think the crowd would die down.

  25. Did Liverpool send a cheque in the 40th minute? The ref has been blind of their assaults since then.

  26. What bs is this ? Jota fouls holding but liverpool gets pk. Disgusting biased refereeing

      1. I think Jota milked it. Seemed Clumsy by Holding to clatter with him but anyways we still lead…

        1. He didn’t milk it, he was kicked.

All of you saying it wasn’t a penalty are just blatantly dishonest.

  27. Doh! What is going on? Losing their cool completely. What was Ramsdale doing?
Shocking penalty by Salah and we need to calm down

  28. We are not even getting outside our own half..
    What’s going on??
    Anfield phobia??

  29. How has liverpool constantly fouling not lead to more cards for them.

This is a bias ref imo so far

  30. Back to old Xhaka. Not playing football, sitting far too deep inviting pressure and leave Ode completely alone to cover 3 Liverpool players.

    Take him off please!

  31. Arteta need to change something..
We are not playing well at the moment..
We are just hanging right now..
It feels matter of time before Liverpool is getting Equaliser and probably winner

  32. Honestly can’t watch the ref is looking for anything to award them free kicks. Just looking at a liverpool player and he blows whistle

  33. Need some subs, I would like to see tiernay and trossard on.

Move zinchenko to mf in place of Xhaka, he gonna get a 2nd yellow

    1. I think Xhaka need to be subbed and Tierney should be on..
      Move Zinchenko in Midfield..

  34. We’re going to concede very soon. Backs against the wall and looking nervous!

    1. Unfortunately, after the Xhaka incident and with Liverpool scoring , we became jittery and Liverpool saw a chance to impose themselves on the game.

  35. We are not winning this game if they keep on dropping off like this. It’s like they have spent all their energy in 1st half

    1. He is gonna get sent off if he is not going to be subbed…
Xhaka should be subbed and Zinchenko should be moved to midfield and Tierney as LB

  36. We need a sub. And I think someone like ESR would be difficult to play for this game. Maybe Jorginho and someone else.

  37. What Kiwior was doing??
He reminded me of Gabriel Paulista or Sebasitian Squillaci

    1. Sorry how many match minutes has MA given him in games we are cruising? You expect him to be match fit.

  38. Bad positioning Ramsdale. Now we should try not to lose and nick it if they come too hard!

  39. It was coming. This is on Arteta. He didn’t bring in Tierney for Zinni when we are the ropes

    1. Agreed, Zinchenko looked vulnerable all game, can’t afford a weak link in defense, leaves everything for Gabriel to do as CB.

Time to give Tierney a run in the team

  40. This is on Arteta, he threw away the 2 goal lead. He got the substitution late and wrong. Xhaka should not have started the 2nd half and then he takes off Odegaard.

    1. He was too late with his sub and he subbed the wrong guys. Xhaka and Zinni should have gone early in 2nd half

  41. This one is on Arteta. Right hand side was overrun all 2nd half. Was crying out for Tierny to shore up.

  42. So f#ing simple

At 60 mins…bring on Tierney and put Zinchenko in the mid and take Xhaka off.

MAs normal arrogance refusing to make subs early because his plan is perfect and cannot be flawed.

    1. Can’t believe Arteta bottled it against this livarpool team for 2 nil up. Absolutely disgusting

  43. We have lost the title, Arteta will never win against pep and with city superior goal difference its all done and dusted. Areta blew it , we could have actually lost the game in last moments if not fir ramsdale

    1. Nothing has been decided yet. Lets keep the support. Its not like City can not have a single slip up like this, is it?

      1. I still back the team and for me all I want is for us to always compete for title, we win it or not that depends on so many factors. But believe me when I say this city will not drop more points and they will thrash us at Etihad because of stubbornness of our manager. He reminds me of Wenger when some times they just can’t sub their favourite players when though they suck on the day and he just can not shut the shop when needed.

  44. Aaron Ramsdale the hero!
Still 6 points lead with a game ahead. Lets not be too negative. Although that second half performance was bad, we still had chances to go ahead this game and our forwards, if a little more composed, would have finished this game.

  45. I agree with Marc and Logic
Second half was poor and the goal after the Xhaka incident needed stronger management by Arteta.

Very lucky indeed to come out with a point after being in such a strong position

I was cross with Ramsdale receiving a card but his goalkeeping was fantastic

  46. What happened to the pressing in 2nd half. Basically they started dropping off as soon as 2nd half started and I think MA instructed them to do so.

  47. Now that idea of playing Saliba in a match where we had most of first team sitting on bench has come back and bite us in the ass. It was a stupid decision then and now we have another in game stupid decisions by Arteta. Why oh why would you take off Captain who has most offensive possession back and can play that killer pass for a guy you have only played once then put him in centre of defence. Why did he not take xhaka off who had a stinker.

      1. Why because your blind faith in Arteta took a hit? Why some of you Arteta lovers just can not admit when the manager makes a mistake. If Liverpool scored that penalty and the clear chances they had, score would have been 5-2 ….what are you smoking dude.

        1. Logic
You need to wind your neck in. Don’t start with that “Arteta Lovers” crap. Are you a troll or an Arsenal fan, either way, you are an idiot (or drunk, as GB said)

          1. Free speech until it doesn’t line up with Admins narrative, classic!

Logic makes valid points, a child make a drunk comment, and guess who gets Putin’d lol

            1. This forum is for INTELLIGENT discussion about Arsenal. Not a troll fest when we lose a point.
Idiotic inane comments are not welcome like Logics or yours…

    1. Ladies and gentlemen here we have one of the clowns who only comes out of this holes when they see an opportunity to slander our coach Arteta. If I may ask you Mr or Mrs or whatever you are, did you really think we would have won this match at Ansfield? Why did you choose today to blame salibas injury on Mikel. Are you 0k

  48. Proud of the lads but Arteta made some poor calls in the second half. Why Why Why so much respect for Xhaka who was a passenger, why not bring Tierney in earlier and when we needed to hold the ball more in midfield he brought on that useless centre half.

  49. Given the comments, clearly a lot of our fans are lacking any sort of memory. We always lose at Anfield. In fact, it’s always an absolute battering!

We’re maybe polar opposite in form this season, but would have taken a draw no questions asked.

      1. @PJ SA
What the hell are you doing giving out at Arteta when we have just dropped our first points in 8 games at a ground where we ALWAYS lose. What are you saying? Arteta out???

Have a look at the League table and just shut up!

        1. When you are top of the EPL and you are 2 0 up. In a game…you don’t expect to win? Funny

    1. I think you are right Jen regarding taking a draw.
What I found so unpalatable was we were 2-0 up and should have capitalised on our position – not the opposite

      1. Of course I was disappointed to throw that lead away, although in the end, we were lucky to get anything from the game.

We were always going to drop points at some point, and if you do, do it away from home in a tough fixture, try not to lose it, and win enough games that the result isn’t fatal. 7 on the bounce allowed us that draw.

  50. @ Logic Can you connect me with your crystal ball supplier that revealed we lost the league today? We narrowly avoided a defeat and you are here having a meltdown. Is City invincible that they can’t drop points. C’mon it’s the game of football, not a do-or-die affair.

  51. I am sad first half was good but Liverpool dominated the second half. Well this gives city a chance and I guess they licking their lips now we have to win our remaining games.

  52. Big thumbs up to Holding and of course Ramsdale. Our midfield let us down today.

  53. @Jen It just shows you how fickle their support is. Bunch of cry babies. You expecting to win the league at a canter when a filthy Arab oil club are also having a good season. Even if we do not win the league, shouldn’t we be proud as fans at the massive improvement in this side?

No one was forced to support the club. If as a fan, you lack the temperament and maturity to results like today’s, then maybe choosing another club to support, like City or PSG would be an option worth considering.

    1. You know our net spend is more double than Citys in the last 5 years lol

So we shouldn’t expect to win a game we are 2 0 up? Or we should be grateful that we didn’t sub early enough? Or must we be happy that we threw away a pivotal game? What a confused little boy

      1. Net Spend lol you realise that is due to them being able to sell players previously brought with the oil money???

        1. Players they made better and actually sold at the right time, yes exactly good management.

          1. Depends what happens at end of season if they did sell at right time or complete miss management… (Jesus & Zinny).

But to use Net Spend with city as if to point out we have spent more than City is laughable, Arteta’s most expensive buy is White at 50m, where as City doubled that on Jack.G and 85m on Haaland to name 2 players.

      2. Zero context. You’re making it out as if we were in the same state as City were 5 years ago. Whereas the truth was that in 2018, we were a complete joke of a club, on a downward spiral and City were years ahead of us in their progression.

  54. We got outplayed today and I am as disappointed as any other fan but this is the time to be with the team and show that we are there for them. The players are human and the fans have a role to lift them up after such a tough loss.

  55. Arteta should know better than he seem to.
Why wait till Liverpool score before realizing zinchenko left the game about 20min before the goal?

  56. Overall, I’m happy with the point. But the performance has highlighted our weaknesses again. If we play like that against City we’re getting thumped. We lost our heads today. Liverpool knew they could affect us mentally. Xhaka took the bait first and never regained his composure. Zingy should have been removed a long time ago. Sala had the better of him too often. Still, a point us better than nothing.

  57. Wow – Arsenal Players looked tired 🙁 MOTM Ramsdale _ I still believe will can win the title 🙂

  58. Zivchenko is being given too much responsibility, because he also has to do Xhaka’s job. The Ukranian’s final passes predictably go nowhere. Tierney would have given us more scope by freeing up Martinellii and Jesus. Arteta has to let go of the Granite sometimes. He is not irreplaceable and is often pedestrian.

  59. I don’t blame Zinny. Salah was getting spade all game. If you wanted to shut up shop, you put tierney on. Arteta panicked just like against United away.

  60. @ FI More like it from me. Regardless of whether we win the league or not, I will be here to support the club again next season.

We’ve ridden our luck in many games and found nicked a win, which is why we are even in the conversation for the league. We might just nick the title given how fortuitous we’ve been in many games. Can’t believe Salah missed that penalty, which would have cost us the game.

  61. The haters are out in force, good for them to get a little sunlight after hiding under a rock for 7 games.

  62. No one is saying we won’t be back to support the club next season regardless. But this is one that got away. For large chunks of the second half our midfield was missing in action or playing like headless chickens. As mentioned above our manager also panicked. His goal was to park the bus in the final 20 minutes. We can only thank Ramsdale, Holding and Gabriel for hanging on to that possibly invaluable point.
