Arsenal’s dynamic duo forcing Wenger’s hand

Once again Arsenal fans were shown just how vital it is for us to have players of the quality of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at the club as they ran the show and helped the Gunners to a first Champions League group win since 2011.

Whether that will turn into a more favourable draw for the first knockout round we will have to wait and see, but if Arsenal are to carry on the European upturn in performances and results and go at least one more step towards the trophy then it seems clear that our dynamic duo will be the driving forces behind it.

That is great news for the team and for Arsene Wenger, of course, but it does not help with the manager’s bargaining position as both players are currently in talks about extensions to their current contracts. Unfortunately for the Frenchman they hold all the cards and I really feel that any more delays will only strengthen their position and weaken his.

In every transfer window we hear Wenger talk about how hard it is to find and sign the really top quality players, so when you have two it surely must be the right thing to do to make sure you keep them. So come on Arsenal, stop messing about and give these two great Gunners a big pay rise and get them to sign on the dotted line.

Bob.

  1. Now that Alexis is our talisman up top, I don’t see him wanting to play for Pep, Pep is much too tactical with how he uses wide players. Or whichever club might go for him, if they have a big name striker already then it’s more likely they are looking for a winger. We all know how much Alexis loves the game, he is involved with it these days more than he ever has, except for maybe Chile.

  2. It’s high time AFC revamp the wage structure. Give these guys what they want. This way it attracts more world class talent.
To think of what these guys bring to the squad, I don’t feel they’re asking to much. Especially when you look at what Theo is getting and the contract Jack is about to be offered…

LOL…i really hope if we meet them this time we get serious and show them that we are a different Arsenal this season.

  4. If the duo are paid £200k a week, it is still profitable for Arsenal than to sign new players from other clubs.. Tranfer fees plus wages of new players will surpass the wage bills of the duo..

    1. I don’t think 200 a week will get them to sign. I think Sanchez would want at least as much as Wayne Rooney or Aguero. I don’t expect him to sign for less than 250 per week

    1. In my mind Wenger has the final say. He runs the club. Both owner and Ivan G are too worried to upset Wenger in any way.

  5. Before they even kick a ball next season Arsenal will get in the region of £220 million just for TV rights and a Champions League spot (assuming they get one). That’s without gate receipts, merchandise, sponsorship, endorsements or anything else.

Wasn’t it Sir Chips who said we could afford anyone in world football except Messi and Ronaldo, and that was before the huge hike in TV payments. If they lose either Sanchez or Ozil through not offering them enough to stay it will just show what a bunch of money grabbing arseholes they are.

I’ve said many times in the past that I won’t renew my season tickets but I always do, If we do lose these two, I really can’t see myself renewing again, why should I continue to line their pockets when they show contempt for the fans.

  6. To be honest I’m getting a bit sick of these two holding Arsenal to ransom. How much money do they want? How much money is enough?
If they don’t want to stay on or want another challenge in another league than I can understand that but it’s not like either of them are struggling for a quid.
A bit of loyalty would be nice otherwise take a hike with your mates Fabregas and Van Perse.

  7. Let us not forget who is the owner of Arsenal football club.
Satan Krookenke, a greedy SOB, that couldn’t care less for the sporting side of his club. If he decides that keeping Ozil and Sanchez isn’t worth the investment in the given circumstances, he will issue an order to sell them both and it will happen without a doubt.
I just hope that their marketing value is high enough to justify their requested salaries, otherwise we can wave bye bye to the both.
Even though, I honestly believe that only one of them will be sold next summer, regardless of the situation after the season 2016/17
