Arsenal’s new man Bruno Guimaraes could miss their match against Coventry City after suffering a minor injury before the game, according to Hayters.
The Brazilian has become their latest midfielder, and he played some minutes in the Community Shield, so their fans had expected him to be in the squad for the Coventry game.
Guimaraes has been one of the top players in the Premier League since he moved to the competition, and he is one player who can take the Gunners to the next level. His quality has already been evident since his arrival, with his performances making a strong impression.
He had several clubs interested in his signature before he moved to Arsenal, but the Gunners won the race for him and will now look to ensure that he can make a positive contribution to their team.
Guimaraes faces late fitness test
Guimaraes has been one of the best players in the group since he arrived, with his quality shining through. If he is fit, he will start the match, but the report says he is probably not ready to feature.
The Gunners will not rush him back, and he will only be named in the squad if he proves his fitness and passes some late fitness tests. Arsenal now have more than enough options in midfield, meaning they can still field a strong team without the Brazilian.
His absence would nevertheless be a blow for Arsenal, particularly given the quality he can bring to their midfield. The club will therefore wait until the final checks before deciding whether he is ready to take part.
Arsenal have midfield options
Arsenal can afford to be cautious with Guimaraes because they have sufficient depth in midfield. That means the club do not need to risk him if he has not fully recovered from the minor injury.
The Brazilian will hope to prove his fitness and earn a place in the squad, but the final decision will depend on how he responds before the match. If he is unable to feature, Arsenal will still have enough midfield options to field a strong team against Coventry City.
For now, Guimaraes remains a doubt, with late fitness tests set to determine whether he can be involved.

Bruno is no miss – he is only rotation option here at Arsenal. Bruno also needs to be in enough training routines, he can’t just walk into our side without having the drills.
Predicting line up for this one is pretty easy.
Zooby plays in front defence that contains Mosky, White Gabriel – though Ricky may be in the team ahead of Hincky. If Dec doesn’t start, Merino will start beside Ode. Zolis, Havertz start, and most probably Noni ahead of Saka based on fitness.
Dec and Saka were never 100% fit end of last season or during World Cup – we shouldn’t even want them to play if they are not properly fit.
MLS will probably start ahead of Merino. He has earned it
Anyone got Subtitles for the 2nd paragraph please ?
Am with you Herr
Yea, anyone?
🤣🤣🤣
Herr Drier,
I’ve already requested to Moon Girl to use the player’s actual names rather than her anagrams. But she seems to get a kick out of doing this. Still if it keeps her happy.
With my team sheet I was wrong in just two ways – I was resting Saka and Rice with Merino and Noni.
Maybe I wasn’t wrong, maybe they should be rested on bench this evening because just a few weeks ago England manager was saying they were playing through pain in the World Cup.
“He has earned it”
Doesn’t work like that though – certainly not under Arteta. Each match is a different project. Merino certainly gives Arteta something different than Skelly for the first 70 minutes of this project that has a “take a look at the opposition” about it. Merino and Zubi have played a lot together in Arteta’s thoughts too.
At this stage one of the biggest considerations has to be fitness. Skelly is a lot more match fit than Merino, and only second to Tzolis in terms of sharpness. I’d be surprised if he didn’t start the game.
Let the season begin. Another title please. Sideways and backwards passing will only allowed in case of emergency, none of this only finishing 2nd in the PL for goals scored, very few goals not scored from open play can be tolerated, and definitely no 1-nil to the Arsenal stuff allowed.
On the other hand, get the defence over the line any way and it’s more days of partying 🥳
It’s exciting right now. The historic defence begins today! I am already in front the telly with a drink.
👍Moon Girl. Cheers. Joyous day on our 3rd rock from the Sun.
Being kick off day. At home. Against Champions. It’s bringing all the end of season partying back to mind.
It was an amazing season two finals and the title. Now we won one thing, all those years of second looks like model of consistency. Everything looks different!
It had been so long that I’d forgotten how great it feels to be Champions. I hope that complacency doesn’t set in with some of our Gunners and I’m glad MA was able to witness Pep’s successful efforts in fighting off same with City130.
Please Bruno don’t repeat this unavailability thing. Skelly and Zubimendi are sneaking into and ambushing to take your perceived regular spot. Your price tag won’t save you from spending sometime on the stardom Arsenal bench
This might not be a new injury or knock. In Bruno We signed someone with injury and patchy fitness record following it last season.
A lot of players played WC over tired or through injury – I’m sure Haarland did and still isn’t right. Ditto Saliba, Rice, Saka.
The only way to make the squad depth an advantage over our rivals, is use it. Isn’t it? My advice is, when it comes to team sheets this season, don’t think of first eleven, but the rotation needed for fresh fit players to call on in the business months of the season.
For example Man City, if Haarland can’t make match squad, who fills in for him? If Haarland not going to make match squads, is it because he’s not being rotated enough to get well and fit?
We have the strength of Gyokeres or Technician of Havertz to start each match project, and the other to come on to close it out – let’s rotate. Let’s use that squad depth.
It’s ironic that Bruno was brought in to provide real quality in depth in the midfield, and now he’s the one that’s injured before a P L ball is kicked –
You couldn’t male it up.
Thankfully we do now have solid options if he doesn’t make the game.
3 – 0 to The Arsenal
Arteta said that Bruno is progressing well. So maybe this game came a little to early for him.
