It’s not just a surprise to see that Wenger obviously doesn’t expect to see Cazorla this year, but I am even more surprised that Chuba Akpom and Matthieu Debuchy as given places. When are they ever going to play?

  1. gotanidea says:

This means Cazorla will only come back after January, if he is fit to play at that time. I think they will Wilshere and Coquelin more chances.

Debuchy would be a good competitor for Bellerin, if he is fit. Akpom has not got his chances yet, so he has to compete with the other English forwards.

    1. criketty joe says:

nows the best time for debuchy’s return, bellerin can stay at left wing back perfect formation with monreal at centre back.

      1. Twig says:

And Kolasinac on the bench right?

        1. Valentine says:

Lol, the Wenger virus has infected some fans.

    2. kev says:

We had better start benching Xhaka.I hate it how people feel he always deserves to be on the team sheet 100%.Get him out and bring Wilshere who is better and more intelligent.Given a run of games Wilshere can do wonders but for injury.
We should also bench Ramsey for a while and use Elneny who is an underrated player. The one thing people don’t understand about Elneny is that he opens up himself such that there’s another player near him so he’s always able to keep things simple.
Wenger must stop constantly playing players who are out of form.I just don’t get what he seeks to achieve.

    3. Shortboygooner says:

      Dear fellow arsenal fans

Now is the time for action. Now is the time for change. Please on saturdays game can we boycott the match. If you are not willing to miss a whole game at worst can we all skip the 1st 10 mins and protest against kreonke. I know we all have our opinions on wenger but surely we agree. #KREONKEOUT

      1. Sue says:

Surely everyone has paid for their tickets already?? Missing the first 10 minutes won’t bother Wenger or the board at all!!

  2. ThirdManJW says:

It’s a shame that Santi isn’t included, for now, but at least Wenger recognised how much of huge loss Santi is, and promptly signed cover in the transfer window…no wait…that doesn’t sound right!

  3. Krish says:

I know the pessimism hasnt left you guys but lets look at the facts (they arent positive but not as negative as we fans think) debuchy for all his moaning is a good RB and we have great cover for LB and RB, i for one am happy that we have kept debuchy after selling/loaning ox and carl, and our cbs arent that bad in a 4 back system, and our midfielders arent that bad as we think in a 4231/433 and our forwards are superb and we have kept sanchez and özil (i know most of you dont like özil) and we have to remember that just last year we bought xhaka a cm and mustafi a cb

    1. ThirdManJW says:

Ramsey has only ever had ONE good season. He’s is decent for Wales, but shocking for us.
Xhaka has been very poor since arriving.
Coquelin is decent, but not top quality.
Elneny is decent, but not top quality.
Santi is WC, but may not see him this season.
Wilshere is decent, but not top quality.
Ozil goes missing all the time, plays well for Germany, doesn’t turn up for Arsenal.

Our midfield is not that good, and they’re given zero tactics from the manager, which makes them look even worse!

Our CB’s are awful in a back 4 system, which is why Wenger switched to a back 3.

      1. ThirdManJW says:

      2. kev says:

If your CB’s are awful in a 4 back system then they’ll be exposed as well in a 3 back system no matter what happens. You’re just delaying the time for them to get exposed and deceiving yourself. Our problem was not about formation. It was about tactics yet no one saw this and thought 3-4-3 was our saviour.Look at our starting CB’s in 4 back:Koscielny and Mustafi who are all quality. The midfield is the problem. It’s not the 3 back or 4 back.In 3 back also our players are not suited for that formation hence I advice Wenger to switch back before it’s too late.We need to revert to 4 back and play the right players in the centre. We needed a DM to make our midfield stable but we didn’t so we have to make do with what we have.

        1. kev says:

Our 3 back is just so wrong. We don’t have natural wingbacks even in this formation. It also seems to me that lots of people here believe if you’re good at right or left fullback then automatically you’re good at RWB/LWB which quite frankly is untrue. That’s why Oxlade Chamberlain can be considered at RWB but not right back.At RWB or LWB you’re asking too much in terms of attack from Bellerin and Kolasinac.A proper wing back can be viewed as a more defensive winger which quite frankly none of them are and they don’t possess the flexibility too to play that way.Our midfielders are also not disciplined enough because in 3 back there’s a huge gap in the centre of the field that must be covered by our CM’s so indiscipline only means disaster. We also have Ozil who looks like he’s playing at RW in 3 back.In that we’re limiting his impact because Ozil takes on his man because he wants to not because he likes to.You can’t play such players at the wing. He’s a proper No. 10 who likes to be given freedom. That’s why Ozil plays likes he’s lazy on the ball and stuff. It’s because he wants to be free and for that you need to put him at No. 10.We need to change asap. Our team is just too rigid and our players are not that flexible so we need to revert back quickly.

          1. ThirdManJW says:

I actually agree with a lot you have said. It is more to do with the tactics than the formation, but the problem is Wenger will NEVER change his tactics, so we might as stick with the 3-4-3, because every manager knows exactly how to set up against the old 4-2-3-1 formation.

4 at the back becomes 2 at the back when we get hit on the counter because of the wing-backs and no DM, so at least with 3 at the back, you have 3 to deal with counters, as the wing-backs are now separate from the back line within the 3-4-3. I’d rather have 3 defending than 2.

The other major reason we’ve looked so bad at the back is because of personal. Wenger’s barely been using actual CB’s, and has had so many out of position. Against Stoke he started only ONE CB, when he had FOUR available. After about 65 mins against Leicester, we had NO CB’s at all! At the end of the day, we’re screwed as long as Wenger is calling the shots.

            1. kev says:

I get your point. But it won’t help us if we’re playing in 3 back and some of our players are being played out of position. Our success of 3 back last season was more of mentality than due to the formation. The formation seemed to renew the mind of players and they started playing better.Little did people realize that we always go back to our old ways only to put up a strong surge in the end. We’ll do well for a while when we go back to 4 back because our players will again change their mentality then after some time we’ll go back to our old ways.
We need this 4 back to change the players’ mentality and to make them play in their right positions.

      3. John Ibrahim says:

        so are these players quality?

        and more

Based on past archives, they have been confirmed as WC by fans and “a must sign” players

        1. muff d says:

wheres the rest of the list??
          alderwereld availbale for 10
jan vertonghen actually made a beeline for arsenal when available at 7 mill
van dijk at celtic 10 mill
          dembele rennes 10

on this site there was countless ppl asking for these signings.
an seri an capoue and bender are good players – fail hafiz fail

          we instead stuck with wasters.

so i dont get your point

          1. Krish says:

muff d you are talking about silly things.. fans were asking for özil, xhaka, mustafi, gabriel, cech, debuchy too and now most of the fans are disappointed about them..
and do you know why there are obviously some players fans wanted who turned out to be great? because Fans want EVERYBODY if a club goes by the fans it will buy 100 players every year so of course there are great players in there too! but thats not the matter, most of the fans arent scouts and most of their wishes is just like a child wishing for a toy, the wish changes daily..

        2. Krish says:

John Ibrahim you are obviously right but the most on here are blinded by their hate right now and arent open to talk objectively about a matter.. thats what i hate about some people on here.. one cant discuss friendly and factually about a matter.. its just namecalling and blaming eachother

          1. John0711 says:

            Factually like
            Lemar deal don
            Lemme deal agree
            Withdrawn from the Lamar deal
            No more signings
            It goes on and on

    2. waal2waal says:

Bell and Debu (both) need to improve the first is a speedster in need of end product while the other (it seems) was resigned to the deadwood. im glad Debuchys has another opportunity to restore his credibility and to shine given hector has shown to be most un-reliable…

and as far as pessimist (comment) im not – fact is i’m optimistic this club will see the turnaround in fortune with trophies and will be far better as a global football force when its in the capable hands of another owner, chief exec and manager. when rival fans, pundits, quality players no longer rate but instead they express pity it indicates how much we’re in a sunken place #Kronk/Gaz/Weng/out

    3. Nwaogu kelechi says:

who all I care Granit has no movement in the midfield. he is presently a problem to this team.put him on the bench.his looping passes are easily cut out by opponents.

    4. ZA_Gunner says:

We have huge huge huge problems in the middle because it is not working no matter whatever player combination we play bar Cazorla. Elneny; Xhaka; Ramsey and in some way Coquelin are 4 players that are too similar in style. We really needed a ball playing central midfielder to fill in Cazorla’s boots and we did not get one. I don’t believe Lemar would have solved that problem either but it would be a huge upgrade to Ramsey, Wilshere and Elneny.

    5. dutchy says:

After the window closed I was looking at the team and wondered how were ever gonna play successful with the new formation. I can see how we can play a successful 433 but never 343.. 433 we all know we’re too predictable and will get hammered this season. Think Arsenal biggest mistake this transfer window is not adding the players needed for 343

  4. Simon says:

I am annoyed that Nelson and Nketiah are not in the 25 man senior squad.
We are amazed that Mbappe is only 18 and playing so maturely, but thats because monaco gave him the chance. Nelson is without doubt up there talent wise and needs the chance as he showed in preseason and in every reserve game so far. Nketiah will become an Eduardoesc striker, clinical as hell and also needs a chance as he showed in every game for reserves and for England scoring a hatrick. Please Wenger.

    1. Admin says:

You don’t include ANY players under 21 in the senior squad list. They can play but don’t count in the squad numbers…
But to be honest, at 17 he is probably too young to be risked until he bulks up a bit.
But he is so skillful I hope to see him in some League Cup/Europa League games….

      1. Billy says:

Mbappe was 17 last year. If he’s good enough play the the boy. With the squad we have, he is defo good enough.

        Usmanov in.

    2. Atid says:

Lol, understand the rules, before you comment please. Neither player needs to be in the 25 man squad, because of their age.

My God where do some people hide themselves?

      1. Declan says:

        Well said Atid and Admin

  5. turyasingura Robert says:

the squad we have is big enough to win epl surprisingly reiss Nelson is missing out of action

    1. Declan says:

      He is not missing!

  6. Atid says:

So u are surprised to see Debuchy and Akpom given a place? So who would you have given it too?

    1. muff d says:

      mickey f***** mouse pal

at least he would keep these ‘kids’ happy

  7. Krish says:

@thirdmanJW look first of all your “facts” aren’t facts.. a lot of our fans are blinded by their hate and you are one of them.. if AKB’s are deluded and being too optimistic, you are also deluded in the exact opposite.. extremes are never good.. you aren’t balanced in your opinion, first of all dont look at things with the aim to hate on it, you will never be objective..
i am 100% sure if we hadnt bought xhaka a lot of the haters on here would be writing this:
“Why arent we buying Xhaka for GOD’S SAKE??? He is surely world-class and the replacement for our injured WC Cazorla!! Wenger is useless and senile.. its so easy just buy Xhaka.. and all our problems would be finished! seriously our club and manager have no plan!”
but as soon as we buy one promising WC player, you (some of our fans) aren’t ready to give them the necessary time to settle into Premier league and are ranting on about other failures.. the same for Mustafi, so before talking about facts, try to think objectively and not blinded by your hate for Wenger..
John Ibrahim has been right on a lot of things first of all the Board is cheating us AND the manager..

    1. John0711 says:

You do know he’s had a season to settle ? He should be showing something now not just the odd pass forward every 3 games I be mbappe wontbtake long lol

      1. dutchy says:

Xhaka played like crap last season but showed his class in the end. This season he started like he forgot in which team he’s playing. Let’s just hope he can get his passing up to 80% and play with someone else (NOT Ramsey). Knowing AW he will keep playing him.

  8. arsenal-steve says:

Always negative reasoning from Wenger. If Santi Cazorla comes back in the January transfer window, then Wenger will say he does not need to buy anyone. He knew he would not get Lemar. Arsenal will not buy because Kroenke is fighting a legal battle with the City of Louis suing him and the NFL. Also he is building a 2.6 billon complex to house his LA Rams and the coming Olympics. He will keep Arsenal’s funds back in the pot in case he needs them for his American legal problems and his LA Rams/Olympic project. He just will hold it back.

  9. John0711 says:

I keep hearing about this 92m offer for Lemar
Ormenstine stated there is no way Arsenal were serious about this deal, offering 92m so late in the day and he was scheduled to play it was impossible to get done
So let’s move on from that smoke screen

  10. Leon says:

I can imagine Wenger is very relieved for the international break.
The knives go temporarily back into their sheaves..
    Until the next calamitous disaster..
I cannot imagine he will last very much longer…

    1. waal2waal says:

…he and his unscrupulous money grabbing circle have brought this cloud upon themselves. you cannot hoodwink fans, get found out and not expect to pay the price.

    2. HA559 says:

This season he won’t escape easily, but we all knew he would hide behind international break after the window closed.

  11. HA559 says:

I think the following is a very stable lineup, I don’t why I’m posting since it is not going to happn, 4-3-2-1.

    ———–Xhaka————-Coquelin———– Elneny———

You can then shuffle down if Giroud comes on and you are chasing the game. So Giroud will be on the tip of the diamond, Lacazette moving back to ozil position. Ozil moving down for one of the CM/DM who will get subbed for Giroud in the first place.

Main thing is to get a recognised and stable back 3 or 4 if he changes formation and make sure they play regularly, so they can build a partnership.

    1. dutchy says:

On paper this looks stronger then every combination I could make with 343..

  12. Simon says:

Love to see Wiltshire or Sead played in midfield

  13. Adeniyi akotun says:

I thing we her should bench Ramsey for some times and encourage Apom and wishere to handle CM on Saturday’s match against Bournemouth , now you will see that ozil will be free to play well and make some good assist.

  14. u.k says:

how cum players do well for countries and former teams only to cum die at arsenal? OZIL..GRANIT..GIROUD..NOw we have sead and laca going of d steam….wenger needs to know his tactical side to d game..
