Arsenal’s revolution summer continues with rapid pace by Konstantin Mitov

Hello fellow lovely Arsenal people! I hope you are all having a great summer and honestly there is no reason not to! I spent July 1st welcoming the sun on the beach and a day later we welcome Sokratis Papastathopolus to Arsenal.

I am very happy with this signing. There was an obvious need for a new defender and I think one more is needed, but Sokratis is a good start. It’s not Van Dijk, nor Koulibaly, but the Greek player comes with a lot of experience and at 30 there isn’t much time to give.

He must hit the ground running. What I know about his play is that it’s solid. He likes a rough tackle and he even admitted he is “obsessed” with defending. Music to my years when I remember last season.

Just look at the transformation going on. Cech was awful last season and a new keeper is in. Mustafi and Koscielny were dreadful, and now Sokratis is in. Bellerin was terrible and we’ve brought Lichtsteiner. We’re trying to address the problems.

If this was Wenger, we would’ve probably still been waiting for our first signing and we ALREADY have three! It turns out it can be done. And by some coincidence, nobody wants Arsene as their coach. What a surprise!

I know a lot of people will forget the years when Arsene kept spreading lies to us, but I am really enjoying the way the truth finally is out! Hats off to our CEO Ivan Gazidis here. He did the impossible and detached Wenger from his throne.

He promised us change and it’s finally here. We’re operating like a modern club. We’re addressing the right issues, moving on players who wasted their chances and we’re trying to do things quick and be ahead of everyone else.

Chelsea for example are yet to announce Sarri and we’re already plugging in the holes in our squad, before the summer tours start. The obvious good thing is that we’ll have most of the players ready for the first game, not coming back in round 3 then getting form until round 7.

This was a major reason for our catastrophic starts in recent times. Wenger never planned because his only concern was the checkbook. If that was good, his greed for power and money were safe.

But we managed to surround him with people at key positions and his incapability made the players down all tools and he was doomed. Now everyone is excited. The players aren’t that stupid. They much like everyone else knew where the problems lay. We spent over 100 million on attacking talent when we were leaking goals like mad.

Now we’ve already got 3 players to patch up the defense, but the ever missing DM could very well be next in Lucas Torreira who had a very good game against Portugal in the world cup. And speaking of it, we don’t have a lot of players left there, so I expect our preparation for the first time in years to be good and I have hope of a strong start even though we’re playing City and Chelsea.

I am definitely excited to see how we’ll line up and how we’ll play. Success is not guaranteed though. Pep failed at his first season at City with all the money in the world. I don’t expect us to be challenging for the league, but I want to see the commitment back.

I want players to know why they are playing at Arsenal and I want to see people dropped as soon as they don’t play well. I want to see character. Players who’s heads don’t drop the moment they concede a goal.

Despite the huge gap to the top 4 if we cut off the simple errors of Cech and Mustafi alone, we’d be a lot closer. I think a top 4 finish is doable. We’re trying to get back to Champions league football and we’re taking any route that takes us there.

This is one reason why we have the Europa League specialist in charge. Anyway, it’s looking so much better and if we don’t reach our targets, people will finally pay the price. People, we’ve made a quantum leap this summer!

  1. Petr Cech will be wearing Number 1. I am hoping Leno will not be playing second fiddle going by squad numbers.

    Elneny – 4
    Ozil – new Number 10

    1. I still cannot fathom the thought of giving #4 to elneny.
With all due respect to him..he is a good squad player. But definitely not an arsenal #4 player.
If not for technical/footballing reasons atleast the people at the club should be looking at the financial aspect of it.
Why would any fan spend his money on getting the #4 elneny shirt?

If #4 is given to Torierra (hoping that he comes) imagine the number of shirts sold and the added revenue with it.

Ffs i came to know that PSG recouped all of the neymar money in 6mnths just thru shirt sales.

Hope these squad numbers are shuffled once all the incomings and outgoings are done and squad is finalised.

Konstantin. The only evidence you have for this claim of yours is your tongue.

    1. The evidence is there. When Wenger left he kept reminding anyone who would listen of how many offers he had to manage other clubs. He probably will wait till the last day of the transfer window before deciding if his past form is anything to go by.

      1. You say that the evidence (well your evidence) that nobody wants Mr Wenger for their coach is that he has a number of offers and he will leave it till the last day of the transfer window before he decides.

        1. I think he’s waiting for something he has his eye on to open up. Maybe the France job, maybe England, or maybe wait til a big club throws the umpteenth one on their ear. If people think Arsene Wenger hasn’t got offers already then you need to wake up and stop with the blind no logical reason other than to talk s**t.

          1. Yeah of course-All those clubs DESPERATE to sign him up as their new manager.Who are they then? And isn’t that just typical of Wengers arrogance and your own blindness to believe ANY top club or nation would want him.The season starts in less than SIX WEEKS.The best he will get is some two bob job in China. And with the way he performed the last few seasons at Arsenal even that would be a surprise.

            1. See I didn’t say they would want him, I said he’s maybe waiting for an opening which allot of managers do, even the relegation level managers all the way up to the Klopp’s and Pep’s do it. It is the people you see as talking sense that are talking like they’re sure, the Article says he’s sure he knows. The comments I replied under say they know. What I do know is that he has offers, of course he does, but at what level sure how the hell could I know that. How come you don’t have a problem with the guys who do think they know?

              1. When Wenger was sacked he immediately told everyone how many times he had turned down all number of big clubs. He also clearly stated he had NUMEROUS opportunities of employment. So what exactly is he waiting for.NO top club on England France Germany Spain or Italy have taken him on.That is in spite of some Top positions Eg PSG Bayern Munich Real Madrid (soon to be available) Chelsea Napoli etc all changing managers.Who exactly is he waiting for?Hartlepool United? He is DAMAGED GOODS as far as top clubs are concerned and any big job is now beyond him.He knows it.Most people accept it.The article was Bang On correct. At long long last Wenger is gone.Gazidis easily won the power game simply because of Wengers continued failure

                1. We’ll see, time tells all. France, England national sides would consider Arsene, I think most fans know that they did regularly pursue him over the years. The top jobs in Spain, we know they wanted him, he is not lying when he said he turned them down. Maybe he has left it late, or maybe he’s waiting to work for a chairman that he gets along with. We don’t know what offers he’s received, but to say he hasn’t got any is to speak about something we no very little of. The English club sides, he already said he doesn’t know if he could do that. But if his offers are not great offers and a top position in England eventually becomes available, then who knows he might have second thoughts. All I was pointing out Phil, is that there’re usually more than one way of looking at things. Real and Barca, they will remember the rejections, whilst PSG and Monaco are happy with a young manager for now, but we’ll see, he’s in no rush and allot of managers who used this tactic it did eventually work out for them. Personally, I believe he wants a national job and his stance on another club management role was him being stubborn because of the way he left.

                  1. Yeah I can see him possibly wanting the French job If they sack Dechamps after the World Cup.He will not get the England job now as Southgate seems to be what the FA is looking for.I acknowledge he repeatedly stayed loyal to Arsenal over the years and that has probably cost him any top European job in the future other than possibly PSG.But let’s not forget he was very handsomely rewarded financially and was able to run the club from top to bottom which he would never have been allowed at any other Club.

        2. snowden, forgive them, they are idiots.
and this mitov guy is a useless, feather-brained loser.

wenger said he would make a decision after the wc, but according to always-without-facts mitov, he should change his mind because mitov says so LOL The level of narcissism in some. Just because Real didn’t want him, doesn’t mean a club like, say, Milan wouldn’t. Wenger is still miles better than the low-IQ clown Gatuso…

no wonder arsenal’s fans are the most ridiculed group in world football. hysteria and/or pettiness over facts will always be made fun of.

          goodbye

    2. Pathetic from Konstantin….
Wenger is gone already and still he still finds excuse for and reasons to drag Wenger to the death..
Move on bro and stop this pettiness

        1. That guy, Wenger, made us mark time for 10 years, the made us march BACKWARDS for two years. He deserves a lot of name dragging ???

  3. Yeah, i am happy with the revolution but still concerned on how emery will line up the players and still have a balanced squad, wenger left a very unbalance squad, a squad with no first team wingers, no DM but torreira is coming. How do we play lacazette, mkhi, ozil, ramsey, xhaka and torreira and still have a balance squad, do we drop one or two of them for a new winger? Its going to be interesting to see what formation and players he decides to use because i wouldn’t want a brilliant poacher like aubameyang wasted on the wings or ozil playing on the wings. Honestly still racking my brain to come up with a formation that accomodates all of them wirhout the team looking unbalanced. What do you guys think?

    1. Its difficult, I guess playing 4-4-2 can work, but its a big maybe, depends on how much work Ramsey and new DM (Hopefully Torriera) gets done. See below option. But it will sacrifice Xhaka position in the team.

      GK
      4 – Defenders
      Ramsey – Ozil – Torriera – Mhiki
      Laca – Auba

      1. That would be very unlikely because Ramsey sucks as a winger and Ozil must have more protection next to him, not just Torreira

Since Emery could exclude Xhaka out, the formation on the first EPL match day could be:

        ……………………..Leno
        Lichtsteiner . Mustafi . Sokratis . Monreal
        ……………………Torreira
        …………..Ramsey ……….. Ozil
        Mkhitaryan ………………………….Lacazette
        ………………..Aubameyang

        1. You got an idea truly.

I like your line up for 1st Epl match EXCEPT that Bellerin is still likely to be given ‘fair hearing’ before confinement to the reserve bench. So, he takes RB position over Lich on match day one

        2. Lichtsteiner Mustafi and Ramsey wont start that match… for various reasons, but some of them wont be Arsenal players at that time 🙂

      2. top players are going to get dropped. Emery rarely plays 2 upfront and I doubt he will do it even with Laca and Aubameyang on squad. Laca will most likely have to fight for his place in my opinion, b/c Aubameyang has to play striker. Laca outwide is not very good. He’s played there for France and didn’t impress. Competition for places is coming back to Arsenal. Also I don’t think he’d put Ozil in his midfield 3 if he wants a hard working mid. He will probably play on right side with freedom to roam. most likely

        Leno
        Bellerin-Chambers?-Sokratis-Monreal
        ramsey-Torreira-Xhaka
        Ozil-Aubameyang-Miki?

Unfortunately no width in this team but hopefully we get a left winger that changes that. And Mustafi I still think gets sold and I don’t expect him to start

        1. I think that is the best option. We need Torreira and Xhaka to sit in the midfield when Ramsey goes up with Ozil to attack. When defending 3 of them should drop in front of the defense and then we counter with Mhiki and Ozil, with Auba up front. I must agree that we needed more competition in the team. All big clubs have this. No matter how big your name is or price, its about performance and current form that counts, and contribution to the team. There will be plenty of games for Laca to compete.

    2. I’d like to see this squad …………………………Leno…………………………,..
      ……………….Litchsteiner………Papa………..Macro/Soyuncu…………….Nacho
      …………….,…………………………………………….Torreira……………………………………….,…………….
      ……,……………………..Ramsey………………………..,..Mhiki/Xhaka…………
      …………………………………………………………Ozil……………………….,….
      ………………………Aubameyang………..Lacazette………………….

        1. From the players we have we would have to rotate depending on the team we are playing. I think its a must we buy a left winger as we don not have any. A player in the mould of leon bailey would be perfect but expensive. This would be my team based on our current team and incoming players.
I would rotate auba and lacazette, ozil and ramsey, xhaka and ramsey depending on the quality of the opposition or even play auba and lacazette upfront and remove the CAM, there are many variations but all of them can’t play together at the same time and still have a balanced team.

          ——aubameyang
          Bailey—ozil——-mkhi
          —-xhaka—-torreira
          Back four and gk

      1. Yip, that’s exactly what I meant above. Remember that there will be transition in attack and defending. The shape will change depending on the transition stage of the game.

  4. how life can sometimes be seen as an irony..when we were guaranteed fourth ,it was termed insignificant aka the Wenger’s cup… how finz has changed.

    1. It still is. You think we gonna break out the champagne when we finish fourth? The only difference is we are so bad hoping for fourth is the only thing we got going.

  5. Having Sokratis, Mustafi, Chambers and Mavropanos is good, but I think Arsenal still need Koulibaly or Yerry Mina

    1. Kouilbaly is way outside out budget though. And with no UCL I doubt he’d want to come. Mina, was crap for Barca this season, but still they invested a lot so doubt he is available.

      1. wait, he only cost 11mil, nvm. Still would be amazed if Barca would give up on him so quickly

  6. Konstantin my brother, let us celebrate a better arsenal and thank God that the ancient dragon is finally out.. I don’t think Emery is here just to chase the top 4..he wants the epl,he is a competitor,i have a feeling deep down my soul that Emery is going to win the EPL.. he knows what he wants to do,he is a tactician,an energetic motivator… People underrates him because he didn’t do well with psg in the champions league but i have a feeling he is found his luck with arsenal, some clubs and coaches are meant for each other…did the almighty guardiola win the champions league with Bayern Munich despite having a more cordial team like Bayern unlike psg that is filled with egoistic players.. Give Emery a chance and see wonders this season…i believe in Emery if you guys want to know why I believe in Emery go back to his first press conference of his unveiling and hear his words then you would understand who Emery really is and what he plans to do for our great football club..Chiza believes in Emery.. Do you believe in Emery??…#believe in emery

    1. think so? He’s not been good a Barca and couldn’t even get into Portugal squad. I’ve never been impressed by him personally. Reminds me of a slightly better Elneny.

    2. Andre Gomes is a typical Arsenal CM. Lacklustre, is afraid to take risks and predictable

Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer and Denis Suarez are a part of Luis Enrique’s failed experiment at Barcelona, despite Denis Suarez showed glimpses of great technical skills

Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer and Shkodran Mustafi were a part of the underperforming Valencia, which they brought Valencia to the relegation zone at that time (luckily not relegated)

  7. The Wenger part was unnecessary, I was just thinking what a breath of fresh air Arsene is as a pundit compared to the hack jobs in England. The man is class, just a pity our fans can’t show the same courtesy. Some managers are actually wise enough to hold off for a bit and wait for a better opportunity, I’ve seen it countless times, but don’t let that stand in the way of a good hack job.

    1. We need to dedicate a week to just bash Wenger on this site. He left a good number of fans with a lot of bile against him

  8. Although I welcome Sokratis we should be aware that Borussia Dortmund had a rubbish defence last year. Something many are missing is that now that Jack and Santi have gone we do not have a central midfield magician at all. Devoid. Historically we had Cesc, Santi and some wonderful ball magicians. I thought Ever Banega was coming, but if we do not sign a real midfield magician we will finish about sixth again. So at the moment we are investing in “old” boys. Would love to see a real magician. Maybe even Tom Cairney is worth a punt if Kroenke is too mean to buy a top player.

      1. Hi Maks
Ramsey is a great player, but he is not a midfield magician like Santi. I would play Ramsey but we do not have a midfield controller. When we lost Santi our results plummeted and we became a poor side. We need to replace him especially now Jack has gone.

  9. If Emery has been watching the Swiss – Sweden game he will now realise the vast amount of work he’ll have to do to turn Xhaka into a footballer.
