Arsene has to know that this Arsenal squad still needs improvement by KM.
Good day to all of you Arsenal fans out there. So what’s up in Arsene’s head? Does he already have his summer signings on his notebook? Or does he plan his summer beach vacation? You would hope he has a plan, but I’m not too sure…
We all agree with Arsene that you want only the very top players to join your team, but the truth is sometimes you gotta go out and bully out a move. Offer supreme money. Force the other team to sell. This is not how Arsene rolls though.
He would wait, sit in the dark, stalk out a potential deal, see if he can cut the price. We need reinforcements. If another player like Sanchez is available we should snap him up. There is no such thing as top players not being able to play with each other.
Look at Barcelona – Messi, Neymar and Suarez. It’s pretty much as good as it gets. Sanchez and Ozil are a good start, but if we could snap up Jackson Martinez and maybe a Real or Barca drop out (Pedro anyone?) we would pick it up a notch. It will be an improvement. And losing the title 4 rounds before the end looks to me like improvement can be made.
Snap up Petr Cech or Hugo Lloris, and put the icing on the cake with a new DM. Then we’ll be looking like it. One star player in your team is respectful but can be countered. Having a team of star players is another thing coming. Everyone knows Arsenal play good and all that, but the fear factor is what I’m talking about.
We had an immense squad 11 years ago. Full of strength, power, speed, clinical finishing and solid defending. We have style and potential now. We’re still a team you always feel could concede a goal. We’re still a team that hasn’t gone past the last 16 of UCL in the last 5 seasons and next year with the new rules favoring the champions of the top leagues it’ll be even harder.
We need to make a stamp. Buy early and buy quality. Even if it means pay a little extra. There’s no World Cup, no European Championship, no Asia tour, no more excuses. Have the team set up in July and prepare for a solid start, different from this season. Mourinho bought Fabregas, Costa and Matic and brought back Courtois and that won him the title.
We need to make a bold statement like that to put ourselves among the big boys, not only on paper but quality wise. I don’t buy that Wenger nonsense that there isn’t quality. There is and it costs money. You always take a risk with a signing. The bigger the signing, the bigger the risk, but hey! – that’s football. If we want to reach the top, we gotta start playing like the best. Top players sometimes easily fall out of favor with a manager (like Ozil and Sanchez) and we should take advantage.
Roughen up. We need to make next season the season we truly return to the elite football map. Chelsea gave us an example. Let’s be brave this time.
