I’ll be the third member of lets stop Dowman from diving club. It’s bad enough seeing seasoned players diving, but when you see teenage players doing it, that is a worrying trend if you ask me.
Derek, somebody at Arsenal must be encouraging it, as it can’t be missed, but nobody seems able to prevent the lad from going down so easily. A few yellow cards should do the trick, as he must be on all the Premier League referees’ lists as a diver.
VAR should see through him in the event of a penalty being awarded.

I hope no one at Arsenal is encouraging him to go down. If that’s the case then that’s a concern to be honest.
He really looks the real deal, and I hope he fulfills his potential. But doesn’t get a reputation as a diver.
It really saddens me to think of such a young player doing this so young. It just shows you how sinical football has become over the years, that even in their teens, players see it as part of the game.

He dived trying to win a penalty against Girona the other day. And I’ve seen him go down very easy trying to win free-kicks. Now I know he’s not the only player who does it, far from it in fact.
But for those people out there who refuse to see it, as early as it is in his career, he is definitely prone to going down to easily.
And the thing is, he’s in good positions when he does it, and he would benefit more by staying on his feet and taking the said player on.
A player full of talent, but this side of his game needs to go.
Being barged over isn’t a dive Derek. I remember when people said he dived against Leeds for the penalty. They obviously didn’t watch when the replay showed the Leeds player standing on his foot.

Take off those rose tinted glasses my friend. As bigger talent as Dowman is, there is absolutely no doubt that he goes down to easily.
No-ones having a go at him for the sake of it. But if he continues in this vein, he will get a reputation for it. And that would be a shame.
And regards him being barged, come on. It’s a contact sport, and not every coming together is a foul.
Derek, no rose tinted glasses on me fella. What I saw on Saturday evening was a fair barge on MD, and him being a lightweight went down. It wasn’t given as a penalty quite rightly. Not sure if he appealed for one.

Jax, I didn’t think it was a penalty either.
The diving can be stopped by Arteta and in his mentors in the team, but he does get fouled at times too, though the problem being now his diving has been noticed, no one will believe it when go goes down legitimately, ie when he really is fouled.

More consistency where? In pre season and youth games? Dowman won’t get enough game time (even in cup fixtures) seeing how the squad is beefing up itself with experienced players in every department.
He’s third option at right wing. Just as last season, he’ll get minutes as a sub or rotation option to help him grow into the position. Eventually he might take Noni’s position if things work out that way, but it will be another season or two before he’s ready to step up into that more regular role.
Is it the way to behave after defeat as nothing is said on JA about yesterday’s 3-1 loss to Betis in Dublin? Maybe not televised. 25 players were used meaning even the subs were subbed. Kepa again in the story for his errors. Arteta said players were fuming

Although winning pre-season games are good, and lets face it who likes losing. But if there’s a time to lose, then pre-season is it.
While you can gain confidence by winning in pre-season, the games are more for conditioning and getting back into a routine.
So for me, disappointed obviously. But I shan’t be calling the Samaritans just yet lol.
