Mikel Arteta has continued to push for the signing of Julian Alvarez and recently called the attacker again to reiterate that he wants him at Arsenal, where he believes the player would have an important role.
Alvarez has been one of the world’s best attackers since his time at Manchester City, which led to his big-money move to Atletico Madrid. However, the forward now wants to leave the Spanish club.
Alvarez Continues to Prefer Barcelona
The team Alvarez dreams of joining is Barcelona, and the Catalans have asked Atletico Madrid to sell him. However, Atletico have refused and insist that Alvarez will not be moving to any club this summer.
Alvarez has been one of the most reliable players in the Atletico team, and the club have strengthened their squad as they look to challenge for trophies at the end of this season. Despite that, the attacker’s desire to leave has kept the transfer situation in focus.
Arsenal still want to sign Alvarez before this transfer window closes, and the Gunners believe the attacker could probably join them if they manage to convince him. Arteta therefore remains keen to make a personal effort to change the player’s mind.
Arteta Makes Another Personal Approach
This is why Arteta held fresh conversations with Alvarez over the phone, but Team Talk says the attacker made it clear to the Arsenal manager again that he wants to move to Barcelona.
Alvarez told Arteta that he appreciates the interest, but the club he wants to join is Barca. This means he has not changed his mind since the transfer saga began, despite Arsenal continuing to push for his signature.
Arteta’s latest conversation shows that Arsenal remain determined to pursue the attacker, but Alvarez’s preference for Barcelona could make the move difficult. The Gunners will now hope they can change his mind before the transfer window closes.
For now, Alvarez’s position appears unchanged, with Barcelona remaining his preferred destination despite Arsenal’s continued interest and Arteta’s personal efforts to convince him.

The British weather, indoor lifestyle, and various other things about life in England are not for everyone. I’m an ex-pat and very grateful for having been able to move away. If he is frosty towards a move back to England then best to leave it. He’ll be unsettled and it won’t work out. Which is a shame because I like him as a player.
If his interest is not to join Arsenal then his interest will definitely not be with whatever thing he comes to do at Arsenal if they buy him.
Have faith in Arsenal
I would be surprised to find out we are still calling like a jilted ex. He said his preference, and I think we have moved on, this Summer at least.
I get it with Vini jr. arguably best LW, but not Alvarez, not close to elite striker, imo.
What’s funny though, if Barca prefer Gyokeres and we turn attention to Hen, Alvarez doesn’t get any move. He might be happy with that. But, different league for Gyokeres, Alvarez could watch him banging the goals in for Barca.
Personally, I prefer Hen to Alvarez – there’s a clear difference in how Alvarez was invisible in WC semi and final, Hen never invisible he bombs around pitch risking life and limb trying to make things happen, to the extent the biggest negative to considering Hen is imagining injury time out from all the throwing himself into everything Jesus style.
I also think Hen is a trade up on Gyokeres. I’m not just saying that for an argument, I suspect most of you agree with me. Hen is the Goat in the air is he not?
Question. Do we get more from Barca for Gyokeres than we pay for Hen? Or other way round?
Will Hen’s wage demands kill any chance of a deal?

This one is simply not happening. Tzlois-Kai-Saka will be our front 3 this season. And honestly, that’s fine. Keep the powder dry and whoever is the star LW/ST this upcoming season we must be 100% alert to and be prepared to do everything to bring them in. I’d rather that than waste money on Barcola is is insanely overpriced and I have doubts is really that much better than Martinelli. Also who is to say Tzolis does not end up becoming an incredible bargain. I really only expect us to bring another defender in and call it a summer. We’ve got the best defense in Europe, and the best midfield in England no doubt, with some good attacking options to pick from. One world class attacker and this squad will ignite but we’ll have to bide our time.
