As injury problems grow it’s not just EPL table Arsenal are climbing

The good news for Arsenal, and there is plenty of it right now after Pep Guardiola lost his first game in charge of Man City and with Manchester United continuing to struggle under Jose Mourinho, is how the Premier League table looks going into the second international break of the season.

The Gunners are up to third and now sit just two points off the leaders Man City and just one behind our north London rivals Tottenham, so with a very winnable looking game at home to struggling Swansea City next up in the Premier League, there is plenty for us to be happy and optimistic about.

However, there is a dark cloud looming on the horizon and it is one that we are all to familiar with, the dreaded Arsenal injury curse, because we are even higher up in the table of Premier League injuries on physioroom.com. Currently only Sunderland have more than the seven players Arsenal have in the treatment room and although quite a few of these are minor problems it does bring up the idea that we could suffer once again from the seemingly endless injury problems that affect us.

The latest Gunners to join the list are the two strikers Chuba Akpom and Lucas Perez, who hurt his knee in training, so with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck already on the list you can see how our options up front are limited. The other three players are Mertesacker, Coquelin and Ramsey but hopefully the latter two will be fit to play again very soon.

Do you think the old injury problems are going to come back to haunt Arsenal again this season?

Bob.

  1. Team with the least injuries has won prem ship each of the last 3 years-

No idea how we fix that, and a deeper squad will help. A season with our crippling injuries would be a rare and overdue blessing

  2. Coquelin and Ramsey should be back in time for next game, and I’m sure the only worry we will have is who will be our striker against Swansea. I don’t think Sanchez should be rushed back after a jet lag of a journey to South America

  3. Coq/Ramsay should be back soon. Perez’s injury is unknown, is it just a knock? I don’t think we should rush sanchez after the trip to SA. We need to start rotating more, especially the front three.

  4. Rambo and Coq should be back soon. From the sounds of it, Lucas’ and Akpom’s injuries are minor, and short term. Wouldn’t be surprised to see both of them back in 2 weeks as well. So we’ve got Mert, Welbz, and Jenks out, and while I do rate Danny boy, I think we’re doing just fine without him, and the others.

  5. Hahaha ? But we don’t have a injury problem at the moment! ? Look ? Wenger has been fielding the same team for a while now And Coquelin should be available after the international break… So ,There’s no injury problem lol ?

  6. joke to write every other team off. I bet half of here are not even watching Liverpool and man United play. so convininent to ignore liverpool and so convininent to say united are struggling under Jose. They literally destroyed stoke but had zero luck. I said after Burnley game , performance worries me a lot. Performance wise we should be sitting 7th or 8th. Fortunately luck is on our side.
