Julian Alvarez remains an important transfer target for Arsenal, but the forward reportedly wants to play for Barcelona, with the Catalan club prepared to add him to their squad this summer.
The recent World Cup finalist has established himself as one of the finest attackers in the game over the past few seasons. He has consistently produced impressive performances for both club and country, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.
Arsenal continue to monitor Alvarez
Arsenal are eager to add Alvarez to their squad and remain interested in completing a deal during this transfer window. However, Atletico Madrid are not willing to sell the striker, making any potential transfer difficult.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have both submitted offers for his signature, but Atletico Madrid have rejected both approaches. Arsenal are waiting for an opportunity to present their own proposal if circumstances change.
The Gunners believe Alvarez would strengthen their attacking options, but they must remain patient while Atletico decide how to handle the growing interest in one of their key players.
Barcelona remain the preferred destination
According to Fichajes, Alvarez would prefer a move to Barcelona. However, Atletico have decided that if they agree to sell him, they would rather complete a deal with any club other than the Catalan side.
The report adds that Atletico would prefer to sell the forward to a club abroad if he decides he no longer wants to remain with them. That stance could create an opportunity for Arsenal if the player eventually becomes available.
Atletico are unwilling to negotiate with Barcelona following developments during the transfer saga, leaving the Gunners in a potentially stronger position should a transfer become possible.
Although Arsenal face significant competition and Atletico remain reluctant to sell, the situation could still develop before the transfer window closes. If Barcelona are ruled out of the race, the Gunners may find themselves with a better chance of securing one of their priority attacking targets.

This could turn into another saga like the supposed Higuain transfer a few seasons ago. The article says Arsenal are waiting for an opportunity to put forward their own proposal. How’s this for a suggestion, put an offer to Atletico , if they turn it down or if Alvaraz is not interested then just forget about it and move on. I’m sick and tired of hearing about this guy.

And there’s also talk elsewhere of our pursuit of Vinicius Jr given his contract situation at Madrid. Much like this Alvarez story ….. the probability of any of this ever happening is less than zero
There’s increasing rumours of a Gyokeres plus cash (£60m) Swap to try to get the deal over the line.
Personally, I hope the transfer, if it happens, isn’t concluded that way.
Gyokeres fought hard with Sporting CP last year to get the Transfer to Arsenal done, that showed commitment to joining Arsenal, and also, that would have helped Arsenal gain leverage on the Final Transfer Fee.
OK, Last season Gyokeres, in his FIRST season back in the Premier League, the toughest Football League in the World, didn’t score the same number of goals as he had consistently scored in previous seasons in a, let’s be honest, considerably inferior league, but he WAS our highest Goal Scorer across all competitions, In his FIRST season, a season when we won the Premier League by 7 points, with a game to spare – we reached the Champions League Final, losing by a whisker on penalties, and reached the League (Carabao) Cup Final – losing in my opinion due to 2 goalkeeping errors by Kepa.
Gyokeres FIRST season, just finished, was a ‘settlement and adaption’ season, as it essentially is for most new arrivals at new clubs, especially in the Toughest League in the world.
He was our top scorer, which is why we bought him in the first place – and we had our most successful season in 22 Years.
That is NOT a coincidence.
And he is FULLY Committed to Arsenal.
It’s highly likely – in my humble opinion, that in his second season, with ‘settlement and adaption’ behind him – he’ll hit the ground running and could very well have a great season.
FIRSTLY – He’s the WRONG Player to be swapping out.
SECONDLY – This is the WRONG Season to be Swapping him out.
If we do get Alvarez AND keep Gyokeres – Imagine the potential goal threat that would provide.
HOWEVER:
Alvares preferred Club is Barcelona who can’t get him from Athletico, but will constantly be trying to get him from Arsenal.
AND HE WANTS TO GO TO BARCELONA
We could be losing a fully settled COMMITTED Player in Gyokeres – ( and paying maybe £60M) for the sake of getting a Player who is likely to agitate in every Transfer Window, for a move ASAP to Barcelona, his preferred Club, AND be hassled in every Transfer Window, by his preferred club, who have made it OBVIOUS they want to sign him.

I agree with you both. I think the Gyok will do us well this season. We need to concentrate on the L.W. Use the money and actually go and get a LEFT WINGER. I would like Barcola because he can play accross the front line in an emergency.
I’m gutted for Martinelli because he’s Arsenal through-and-through but he just hasn’t quite got back to the 22-23 season level.
I’m also with Reggie and Chris on this one. Gyokeres had to break up with his girlfriend just because he wanted to join Arsenal and without consideration we’re willing to exchange him for a so-called best striker? I think that’s unfair. I really enjoyed how he played every single match last season. A striker with the strength of a defender who can’t lose a ball in his possession unless tackled down, and Arsenal are ready to give someone like that away, that for me will be unfair and annoyingly, the sought-after striker doesn’t even want Arsenal. Just move on.
