Aubameyang sends message to Emery but will he listen?

Players have their own way of letting their manager know what they want, they can tell them directly, they can do it through a representative, in an interview, or even as a joke, and speaking to SkySports Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dropped the biggest hint yet that he believes that he and Alexandre Lacazette should be starting games together.

“Everybody knows that I like to play with Laca because we have a great partnership,” The Gabon international said. “Sometimes one plays, the other is on the bench. It’s like that. You have to fight for the team.

“I think you know that I like to play with two strikers but I don’t want to say it because the coach will be maybe a bit angry.”

Aubameyang was clearly in a jovial mood and the last part can be taken as a joke but it does go to show what he is thinking, in fact what a lot of us is thinking.

Only Emery knows why he does not play the two together on a more regular basis, he must see something in training that the rest of us do not, but when they are on the field of play they do compliment each other and it is hard to fathom why the boss is not convinced.

It makes sense on occasions to go with a lone striker but too many times we have been left baffled by Emery’s team selection, and it seems we are not the only ones as the players appear to be just as confused as the rest of us.

Will Emery get the message?, of course he will not, managers make their own decisions based on their own beliefs and not what fans or players want, but this one will not go away any time soon and at some point the manager will have to clarify why he does not play Aubameyang and Lacazette together more often.

  1. I personally think he doesn’t trust us defensively at the mo. So playing 2 out and out striker makes us weaker in defence. I believe when he strengthens the back line, he will unleash the 2 of them on a more regular basis. As an ozil fan, I regret to say it may have to be him who we sacrifice as part of that plan. Only my opinion.

      1. You do make me laugh Pat ? oh jeez and it’s an away goal…. I bet your man is very happy right now!!! Unlike us… ?

      1. 5 shots on target so far and 5 goals scored. We may likely see almost 10 goals in this match.

          1. Sue I need waking up, I have never seen this kind of game before ever in my life???? pat is crazy right now. I love him ? ❤️❤️

              1. Aww, never mind Sue, you know am always on your side. We are back to we tomorrow against Napoli and if pat misbehave he will be sleeping outside. I promise you. Sleep well sweetheart!!

  2. Griezmann disagrees with Aubameyang’s notion

Griezmann is an avid Arsenal fan and he selects Lacazette as the lone striker in FM 19:

    …………………Pickford
Malcuit . Mepham . De Ligt . Telles
    ………Fernandes ….. De Jong
    Bailey ………… Felix ………. Lozano
    ………………..Lacazette

  3. Imagine if Son started up front against us… We’d be picking the ball out of our net every 4 minutes

  4. As we still have a rubbish defence as we have done for almost a full decade now, we need to play to our strengths , which are attack. We should play both Auba and Laca, AS EACH ARE BETTER WITH THE OTHER ALSO PLAYING.

    1. Wow so don’t you think the manager experimenting too much with the little qualities he’s got.

  5. Get in city those spuds ain’t winning anything!!?. 6 years with this so called great manager and won absolutely nothing!!?

    1. I will give everything for attacking football. Why not play to our strength as Jon said. No more sideways and back passing football. I’m like enjoying this match. How I wish we can play like that.

    2. Pochetino is a very good manager, Spurs seem to have this mentality problem too, alongside Liverpool as they continually fall short when it matters most

        1. What power shift?
          Because Spurs won or what?
Arsenal have had greater UCL exploits over the years, it is their time let them enjoy it, they will be out of it soon

          1. Have we? Haven’t been past R16 in ages. Spurs have gone further the past several seasons than we have in almost a decade. Wenger held us back so badly. I cannot believe we put up with it. Look what Poch does with zero transfers during the season. Incredible. We were celebrating crumbs.

  6. if the spuds win tne ecl i will kill myself. it just gets worse every F######g year for us gooners since that greedy yank bought us.

  7. Happy for Spurs, indeed I am!
Shame to City’s money, ruining football with their crazy money, second season in a row losing to an English opponent.
Congratulations Spurs! But they won’t win it though

  8. I just hope City beat them on Saturday… if they lose (again) and hand it to Liverpool… doesn’t bear thinking about

  9. I couldn’t have asked for more.Wow! what a game, Even though as an Arsenal fan,I applaud hard work when i see one. Spurs have worked hard and they merit the success they are getting ATM. Liverpool on the other note are what i call “A finished Product” Klopp have worked on this team for years and i believe this is finally their year. They will Roast Barcelona and also win not just the Champions League but the Premier league aswell. this is my prediction.

Tottenham on the other hand have not only Ended ManShitty’s Champions league hopes but will also Wreck their premier league hopes this weekend. As an Arsenal fan i hope Emery uses Liverpool as an example on how to set up his team. I see no reason why he is scared to make bold decisions which will eventually pay off. We all know when he starts with two upfront, we dominate and win matches so why the hell is he not starting 2 strikers upfront in every Away match? If he is really serious about winning tomorrow, he better starts with 2 strikers upfront so we play without fear.
Everything is in our hands so someone please Scream at Emery not to Ruin it.

  10. Aubameyang needs to keep quiet and focused on increasing his goal tally, what with all the chances he’s been wasting. He’s been performing below par for the past 2-3months, how long was he stagnant on 17 pl goals for? He should have been around the 23-25 goal mark if he was a little more consistent in front of goal. He became renowned as a lone striker upfront for Dortmund and now suddenly he can’t play without lacazette by his side? Smh he’s too comfortable and doesn’t see laca is competition, rather as a partner

    1. Agree. Auba has not been that good lately and needs to up his game. Lacazette is far more critical to our team than he is. Auba needs to learn how to be effective on his own. He just doesn’t have that presence that laca does upfront.

  11. Emery explained that aubeymand has been sick for
a while has been our top team with injuries didn’t help 3goods ,Watford are not a mickey mousse tean

  12. Defending against one attacker is far more comfortable than if Auba and Laca play alongside. – as Everton game proved. That restricts wide defenders from bombing forward with unlimited freedom – in my view.
