Barcelona transfer snub makes Bellerin true Arsenal hero! (unlike Fabregas)

The ability of Arsene Wenger to attract the top quality players to Arsenal and to keep the ones we already have at the club despite the fact that the Gunners do not or cannot match the really crazy transfer fees and wages paid by the likes of Manchester United and Man City will be a lot stronger if the current Arsenal squad can keep up the recent run of form and results and bring the Premier League trophy back to north London at the end of this season.

If Arsenal do not manage to become champions of England this time, though, the players now in the squad and any potential signings that the boss is looking to bring in will want to feel that there is a good chance of us doing it next time. Even if we do win it then players will want to see evidence that we can do it again, which is why I loved the comments from our brilliant young right back reported by Sky Sports this week.

Hector Bellerin has been regularly linked with a transfer back to his boyhood club Barcelona ever since he broke into the Arsenal first team and started to show what a great talent he is. The football press seems obsessed with the idea that the Spanish international star is sure to want to rejoin the current La Liga champions but Bellerin has put that theory to bed in style.

He said, “If I wanted to play there I would have stayed there.

“I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here. I’m not looking back, I’m just looking to help Arsenal.

“It’s nice for a player to know that big teams want you, but I’m very happy here.

“I’ve still got three years left on my contract, so I’m just focused on playing every single week, improving and hopefully making things happen here at Arsenal.”

Nice to know Hector, and the Arsenal fans are more than happy to have you. I wonder what Cesc Fabregas thinks of this by the way. Is Bellerin set for a long and successful career and true hero status with the Gunners?
