Bayer Leverkusen do not want to sell Jarell Quansah this summer, even though the defender wants to make the move to North London.
The defender only moved to Germany about a year ago from Liverpool and has been one of the most important players in the Leverkusen team. He was also in the England squad for the World Cup this summer, where he played some games for the Three Lions, who believe he is a top player in their pool.
Arsenal want to sign Ezri Konsa, but he is too expensive, so they have turned their attention towards Quansah, who is young and could do well for their team for a long time.
Leverkusen Want to Keep Quansah
However, Football365 claims that Leverkusen consider him too important to sell and their intention is to block his move back to England this summer.
Quansah is seen as a key figure in their team, and they have no plans to offload him so soon as they look to ensure they have a better squad for this season.
His importance to Leverkusen means Arsenal face a difficult task if they want to complete the transfer. Although Quansah wants to move to North London, his current club has made its position clear and is not interested in losing him.
Arsenal will therefore have to decide whether they are prepared to push ahead despite Leverkusen’s stance. The defender’s age and potential make him an attractive option, but his club’s reluctance to sell could significantly increase the cost.
Arsenal Face Difficult Negotiations
Arsenal are expected to keep pushing, but if they insist on getting the deal over the line, they face paying more than they want to sign him. That is the price to pay for signing a player whose club does not want to sell.
Quansah’s desire to join Arsenal could help the Gunners in their pursuit, but Leverkusen remain in control of the situation while the defender remains under contract with them.
The Gunners have already identified Quansah as an alternative to Konsa, but securing his signature will not be straightforward. Leverkusen believe he is too important to their plans and want to keep him as they prepare for the new season.
Arsenal must now determine how far they are willing to go financially to sign Quansah. If Leverkusen refuse to lower their demands, the Gunners could have to choose between paying a premium or pursuing another defensive option.

Firstly, whenever a club says not for sale, I’m not sure we should be so quick to say that’s over then – more of a negotiating tactic ties in with inflating price. Villa told us day after day no way is Rogers leaving this summer – he was under contract , settled, looking forward to Champion’s league football and negotiation price starts at £130M. Next moment he was at Chelsea for less than that.
There is this rich man poor man disparity between Prem and Euro Leagues, does it not seem? A little pokey £55M transfer for Prem, is massive in some Euro league clubs including the Italians.
Secondly I think Quansah – young and learning RB and RCB – is the right profile of player as back up and rotation whilst Konsa absolutely isn’t. At Konsa stage of career, fee demanded and wage, Konsa needs to be on the pitch – with Timber and Sali and Gabi fit, Konsa isn’t on the pitch – nor the sort of step forward type of player Quansah is – more like a CB stuck wide than natural there. Mosky needs game time to develop too, and so does our Saliba Regen.
I’m not sure we need a signing – I think Hincape can do a job switched that side, Ricky on left. It’s not like Timber and White and Saliba have left, all three are competing with Mosky and Salmon for just 2 places. Do we need another? And if MA gives Hincape a go right and it works as well as I think, then definitely not.
I don’t think either Liverpool or Arsenal are chasing Konsa now. If the Konsa camp like the idea, of one last big pay day, I think Villa have priced him out the market and he’s having to stay.
I thought he was awful and slow at Liverpool. My mate (Liverpool fan) thought he was awful. I thought he was awful for England. So 🙏no. Although I am not religious 🤣
And the only problem with the Konsa deal, is us meeting Villas valuation. Not a massive Konsa fan but I accept Pubill, is not available. So we are struggling.
My other point is we are not struggling for defenders as much as being made out.
My Hincape filing in at right back idea might well work. If Timber fit and Saliba not, Timber plays at centre back.
If we do make a signing, I expect that’s not additional but means white will be sold before deadline. To me that points to us signing a right back not centre back.
Salmon plays right centre back so maturely and so good on the ball don’t you think?
I agree. My main point was Quansah being the right profile, Konsa the wrong one, not Quansah right signing. He has had a great season in the German league, and he can play full back properly, unlike Konsa.
