Bloody internationals! Torreira in injury scare….

Wouldn’t it just be our luck if Lucas Torreira came back from international duty with an injury, as he is the one new arrival from the summer that Arsenal fans are desperate to see play every week. So far he has only made three appearances from the substitutes bench, but he finally started a game for Uruguay last night, but was taken off at half time. The Metro reported today…..

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Lucas Torreira after the summer signing from Sampdoria was substituted at half time during Uruguay’s 4-1 win over Mexico.

Playing their first match since a World Cup quarter final defeat at the hands of eventual champions France, Uruguay sauntered to a convincing victory with Jose Gimenez and Luis Suarez among the goalscorers.

Torreira started in central midfield but was withdrawn at the break, replaced by former Middlesbrough forward Christian Stuani, and was pictured with an ice pack covering his left leg.

With most of our first team internationals yet to be involved in games, we still have quite a few possibilities of further injuries to our players. I know we are only playing Newcastle next but I am just desperate to see Torreira playing regularly. Please please please make it just a little knock!

Hahahahaha! Hilarious! You never cease to make me laugh – well done yet again. Comparing Xhaka to a footballer, any footballer, let alone Torreira, is like comparing the skills of the tea lady to the skills of Dennis Bergkamp.

Bit of a huge insult to the tea lady to compare her with the woeful and totally useless Xhaka, I’d say!

Leon exactly my thoughts. Emery doesn’t start him, so not too worried if he did pick up a knock. Obviously Emery cares little about solid defenses; Xhaka is great example of that.

Emery probably happy with Ramsey scoring, despite him giving one right back. Nice to see Ramsey consistent though; attacking and defensive liability.

Wondering why spend £30 million on Torreria to bench him, when Arsenal desperately need a winger.

Hopefully Torreria is ok so he can return to Arsenal bench. We need his 10 min cameos, sigh.

As well, why did Arsenal buy Stephan Lichtsteiner to sit on the bench, when we need leadership, tactical awareness, strong tackling and discipline in the back four? At 34 he certainly wasn’t bought as a future prospect!

Lehmann…he had a really great game today… loved his cheeky penalty to win it! Can he play for us against Newcastle??

Mad Jens gave a goalkeeping masterclass today, saved a pen, scored the winning pen and made some really good saves. He could certainly show Cech how to play out from the back. 5-3 to the Arse on pens.
