Blow for Arsenal as long-term target agrees personal terms with rivals

Arsenal look set to miss out on Raheem Sterling’s signature this summer with reports claiming he has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

The Gunners have been following his situation for some time, with manager Mikel Arteta having been keen on a reunion since leaving Manchester City, and while we have appeared to be keen on adding a forward to our ranks this summer, Sterling no longer appears to be an option.

The BBC is reporting that the England forward has now agreed personal terms with rivals Chelsea, ahead of a now-likely move from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Sterling lost his first-team role to fellow Englishman Jack Grealish last term, with Raheem playing much of his football either on the right-wing or as a makeshift CF, and with the arrivals of both Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland, his playing time would have been further limited in the new season.

He now looks set to leave the club after he agreed terms over a move to west London, a potential return to London having been with QPR as a youngster, while his move to Chelsea could well aid Arsenal as we look to bolster the same role.

We have both been linked with a move to sign Raphinha amongst other targets, and this could well end the Blues’ pursuit of a winger-come-forward.

While I would have loved for Sterling to have come to the Emirates, his wages and stature doesn’t match our current policy, and I’m not shocked that do not currently appear to have been in the running for his signature.

Should Arsenal have done all it takes to land Raheem? Should we have broken our current parameters to pursue a deal?

  1. I am not trying to be pedantic or snobby but this business of always coming up with headlines such as;

“A blow to Arsenal as such long term target signs for another club”.

    “Arsenal have been snubbed” etc

How the hell is Sterling moving from
City to another club a blow to Arsenal? Have we been in for him at any point?

    1. If arsenal fc were boxer it won’t make it past first round with the amount of blows she gets from Martin and GoonerP. Spot on GoonerP. The one that irk me most today is …..A blow to Arsenal as such long term target signs for another club”… Admin should be able to filter the fabricated rumour from the real one. Long term target, whatever that means and if it is true we have a long term target going to another club how should any fans keep faith with Edu and Arteta or support the process

  2. Arsenal can sign Gnabry who is better than all these other wingers but surprisingly Fabrizio Romano says he is not a target. The upcoming Gakpo is also amazing. Only Arteta and Edu best understand what they are trying to do.
The midfield is really crucial at this moment.

Arsenal must step up next season and be capable of challenging the bigger teams.
We took too many goals last campaign and scored too few to be able to compete with our rivals

  3. What has his “stature” got to do with anything?
If we “weren’t in the running for his signature” why is it a blow?!?!?!?!

  4. We already got the better striker at our club in Jesus, Sterling has been poor for a while & i don’t believe for a second we were ever after him

  5. Is Kaka to Honduras a blow for Arsenal as well 🤣🤣 We have got Jesus and with his contacts we have probably lost our last game 😉
