Boothroyd: Arsenal don’t need a winger or Declan Rice – This is who they do need…

Just like every other promising prospect in the PL, Leeds uprising winger Wilfred Gnonto has not been left behind and has just been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer. However, if there is one position Arsenal don’t need to bolster, as per Jay Bothroyd, it is their wings.

In response to Gnonto’s links, the ex-gunner believes Mikel Arteta has on his hands the three best wingers he can count on; hence, there is no need to add another.

Although he doesn’t specifically mention them (the 3 top wingers), I’d imagine he is referring to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard as these 3.

Apart from dubbing the Arsenal wingers top class, Bothroyd has taken the time to advise Mikel Arteta on the two moves he can make to help Arsenal progress.

In addition to the three fantastic wingers he already has, he believes Arteta should go all out to sign Victor Osimhen for his offence. After spending a fortune on Osimhen, it could be hard for Arsenal to complete a headline move for Declan Rice. That is probably why, at midfield, Bothroyd is championing a move for Alexis McAllister, who he feels could be the last piece of the puzzle for Arsenal’s midfield. The gooner tweeted: “We don’t need more wide forwards we have 3 top ones already! We need a striker plain and simple!!

I would sign McAllister £50-60m and Osimhen £90m at a guess! Over a Declan Rice who I rate highly btw but for 100m+ No chance!” What do you think of these transfer recommendations?

Could those two be what Arteta needs to hear?

  1. Daniel O,
because of the excessive transfer fee cost price. which Napoli could ask for to be paid to them before allowing their lead striker this season, Osimhen to join a buying top club side. But because of the likely will be a very high transfer cost price that will be slammed on his head by Napoli. Arsenal may not sign Victor Osimhen next summer for that singular exorbitant transfer cost price payable reason next summer transfer window. To use him to bolster their attacking options next season in their striker’s department.
But could keep their Folarin Balogun instead to do the bolstering work for them.. Who is currently on loaned out by Arsenal to the Ligue 1 club side Reims.
And after a 2nd thought by me. I don’t think Arsenal will need to do the signing of the holding midfielder, Declan Rich next summer transfer window.
Principally because of, he is a overhyped Dmf player. Whose Dmf job quality that he’ll bring to Arsenal if they sign him next summer is not worth paying a £100m for by Arsenal to sign him.
This is because he is not a regular top goals scoring and assists provider kind of a holding midfielder like James Maddison is.
Which I think Arsenal need to do than to sign a pure Dmf who Rice is.

  2. I cant see MA giving a toss for what we fans want , noR should he Bothroyd is entitled to guess who we might get and to recomment his thoughts ,just as we all are too.

But, as so often with fan comments of all kinds, it cuts precisely zero ice with those in all clubs whose full time job it is to make choices. In other words, fan sites are purely for opinions but REALITY is for managers and those calling the shots. Just how things work, in REALITY LAND! All we are doing onJA is letting steam, rather pointlessly really ,though I do not denigrate anyones opinion ,nor my own. Just as long as we know OUR PLACE, which, to clubs, is simply to support and not be overly critical.

We care also entitled to disagree with that view, if we wish and many of us do !

  3. Agree 100%. It’s the centre that needs players, not the wings. Osimhen + Rice or McAllister would be awesome.
