Ethan Nwaneri is set to seal a deadline-day move to Borussia Dortmund after the German club agreed a loan deal with Arsenal.
While Myles Lewis Skelly seems to have worked his way into Mikel Arteta’s first team plans, Nwaneri has still not found a place in the group this season. The youngster is one of the finest players in the squad, but there are more experienced players who can make things happen and currently play ahead of him.
Since the second half of last season, it has become clear that Nwaneri needs to leave on loan because he is not part of the club’s short-term plans. He spent that part of the season on loan at Olympique Marseille and will now spend this season with BVB.
The move should allow him to play regularly and continue his development away from the Emirates, where competition for places remains intense.
Nwaneri agrees Dortmund move
According to Fabrizio Romano, both parties have agreed to send Nwaneri out on loan to the German club. The attacker will therefore spend this season away from Arsenal as he looks to secure the playing time he needs.
Nwaneri recognises the importance of regular game time at this stage of his development. Remaining at Arsenal without consistent opportunities would make it difficult for him to continue progressing at the pace expected of such a talented youngster.
A temporary move to Dortmund should provide him with a fresh challenge and an opportunity to demonstrate his quality in another competitive environment.
Dortmund offer development opportunity
BVB are regarded as one of the best clubs for talented youngsters to join because of their strong reputation for developing young players and helping them improve.
For Nwaneri, the move represents another opportunity to gain valuable experience after his previous loan spell at Olympique Marseille. He will now hope to make the most of his time in Germany and return to Arsenal as a more developed player.
Arsenal will also be able to monitor his progress during the loan spell while giving him the chance to play more regularly. The decision should benefit both the player and the club as Nwaneri continues his development.
With the move expected to be completed on deadline day, Nwaneri can now focus on making an impact at BVB and proving that regular football can help him take another important step in his career.

I am so happy with this news.
I know it was reported that Nwaneri didn’t want to move abroad again, he’s just a kid so I am sure it would be quite daunting for him.
With that said I think he will realize how beneficial this will be for him. BVB have a good track record with developing English players.
