Brighton v Arsenal Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Brighton vs Arsenal Preview, Line up and predicted score by KJ

Most Arsenal fans are in a far better mood after last week’s brilliant performance against Man City and we now go to Brighton to face a Championship team with a week’s rest as well as the promise of Walcott, Ozil and others starting the game.

Although we are facing a Championship side, you can expect it to be difficult with it being away from home. Brighton play good football and have the ability to cause an upset if they “click”. But you expect us to have too much class in attack to allow the Seagulls an opportunity of winning this game.

We will need to impose our passing game on Brighton immediately and we should be looking to get an early goal. This will cause panic and should open up the Championship side as the game progresses. The pitch will be in good condition meaning that this should help us immensely with our game plan.

Predicted line up:
Szczesny
Bellerin – Chambers – Mertesacker – Gibbs
Coquelin – Ramsey
Rosicky – Özil – Cazorla
Walcott

It’s actually fairly difficult to predict the line up but this is what I believe it’ll be.

Szczesny to play after being dropped from league/CL duty. Hopefully he’ll show an improved attitude.

I expect Koscielny to get a rest as we are managing his injury very carefully.

Bellerin to start again and to build on his great performance at the Etihad.

The same for Coquelin. He was brilliant at the Etihad and is a far better player than Flamini so he’ll keep his place with Ramsey partnering him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will probably miss this game but fortunately we have Rosicky back now to play amongst the midfield.

Özil should finally get a start and I expect him to punish Brighton with his passing.

Cazorla is undroppable at the moment. He’s had a week’s rest and completely destroyed City so he’ll be ready to go again and play his football.

Walcott should also start and will get plenty of balls in front of him by Cazorla and Özil so you’d expect him to get that goal that will boost his confidence.

If all is going wrong, our bench should have the likes of Alexis and Giroud to change the game which will be good for us.

I expect us to win the game comfortably. 2 -0.

  1. all the banter yesterday means, everyone whos not an arsenal supporter wants us to lose today.
plus there players are fired up after gooners online saying we have won the fa cup again.
the pressure is on us away from home.

    lets show discipline an experience.

    0-1 rosicky

  2. Predicting a very physical and tough game, (hopefully we get away with no injuries).
    2-1 to Arsenal.
@gunman. Liverpool may lose at Bolton but cant see MU losing at Old Trafford.
Also the FA shows us in any round that any team can beat another, especially if the favourite is complacent/over confident. Saying we’ll win it again is too much at this stage even with a lot of the bigger teams going out, one game at a time comes to mind.

  3. I like Szczesny but he need to work hard with his psychology, to me Ospina is our number one i can simply say one of the best in the league, and in Brazil (WC) he was the 2nd best after Nuer. though your lineup suggests Szczesny, i would opt for Ospina, since he was out injured and he need more game time to rediscover his form and confident.

  4. Being complacent will be our biggest undoing…It’s a winnable game on paper but we have to prove that on the football pitch.Let’s ignore the big boys getting knocked out this round else we may end up being a casualty too.COYG We are the Arsenal

  5. I would start Giroud. Brighton is not an easy team. it will be a tough one and we should start with our best eleven. Besides, Giroud has a thing with FA cup. 5 goals in last seven games. Not bad. Haha. COYG!!!!

  6. Chambers and Mert both together? I am uncomfortable to be honest. Our full backs will have to try and not overlap much if such situation arises.

Anyways, best of luck Gooners. Go win it.

  7. hahaha; how can this possibly be a predicted lineup with Walcott upfront, Cazorla starting, and Mertesacker with Chambers in the centre.

  8. I imagine Giroud will start with Walcott on the right. Maybe Cazorla rested but most likely Rosicky will be on the bench.

  9. First, hopefully Wenger SHOULD heed the warning made by Middlesbrough, Cambridge, Bradford, etc. Wenger should put out a strong team. Anything is possible. We are also playing away (City, Chelski and Southampton lost @ Home)

That said. If he does, I think we should win comfortably. It also depends on how rusty some of our players are (like Ozil, Walcott, Flamini, Szczesny).

    My prediction
    0-4 to Arsenal
(No disrespect to Brighton but the loses yesterday should pump up our players)

    1. Spot on re the losses yesterday should pump the players. Think Wenger has the luxury of not needing the motivational team talk here – all the players will know the situation. Admire the 4-0 optimisism though!

  10. 3-1 Arsenal. Banking on a Walcott goal. No time to take Brighton lightly after yesterdays results. COYG!
