Bundesliga club denial adds credibility to Arsenal transfer rumour

There is going to be a ton of transfer rumours this summer linking players with a move to Arsenal and it is not going to be easy to sort the credible from the rubbish and that is why the smallest of clues can help us determined what is real and what is not real.

Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Gotze, who has just a year left on his contract, has been linked with a move to the Emirates, which we covered here, and while there has been no official confirmation that we are interested in the world cup winner the latest comments from Dortmund’s chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke does lend credibility to the original speculation.

Discussing the rumours with reporters Watzke said

“I know no reason why he should go,”

He further added that Gotze had “not requested a transfer.”

What I found interesting was there was no outright denial, just questioning why the player would want to leave and reiterating that he has not requested a transfer.

That leads me to believe that Dortmund are fully aware of the interest in their playmaker.

The 27-year-old has also not signed a contract extension and that is the more telling indication of his intentions and let’s be honest, why ask for a transfer request with just a year left on your contract when it is fairly obvious you want to leave, otherwise an agreement would have already been concluded.

No one will know for sure until such a time that a representative from the player or club comes out and either confirms or denies that the player is leaving but common sense tells you that Gotze is very likely to leave Dortmund this summer and the links to Arsenal, in my opinion, are very real.

  1. I hope there would be no more new CAMs or no 10s like Goetze or Rodriguez. We have enough headache in accommodating our own no 10s

This no 10/ CAMs tactic is no longer as effective as before, as proven in Champions League final with Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the dominant ball possession, Alli/ Eriksen were unable to provide easy chances to their forwards and only Son was able to wreak havoc on Liverpool’s defense

Rather than wasting the space for a no 10, Arsenal had better allocate the position for a winger or a target man that can make faster impacts. We have been waiting for the perfect through balls from our CAMs, instead of forcing the opponents to make mistakes

  2. How is Gotze any different from Ozil ? Both don’t do with the arsenal fans want, run around chasing balls, putting in tackles. In a month’s time fans will start abusing the player.

    1. Unless Emery can utilize Ozil, Mkhitaryan or Goetze as one of the CMs in 4-3-3 formation

Never saw them in that role, but their ability to dilly-dally with the ball would probably good enough to distract the opponent’s attention from our wide players’ runs

  3. Mario Gotze is Ozil 2. OZIL 2. He is a lazy, over the hill, git. Totally useless choice. What about James Maddison. Pay the money Kroenke/Emery. Why are you wanting to buy players who are FINISHED. If this is true then Arsenal/Satan Kroenke will destroy Arsenal’s support base. Sooner or later the supporters will rise up. Should be now. Right now. Kroenke regarding Arsenal is a lowlife. Make him know it. Rise up.

    1. Haven’t Arsenal been buying players passed their peak since the Emirates was finished!

Arsenal won’t compete for big names with big prices. Although, we are told they can’t because of FFP. Well, we all know that’s BS!

We’ve made some bad buys and left contracts to run down. We’ve lost millions (and made millions in some cases) but the general business dynamic of Arsenal is nothing short of a shambles!!

It seems to me that the only players who want to play for Arsenal are players who want to play for a club that give regular football with a good wage! Anything more is a bonus. Arsenal attract these players quite well as the “top 4 will do” suits them. Unfortunately, even top 4 isn’t even possible now..

    2. Sean, before you blow a fuse. Have ever thought that this is a transfer rumour that could possibly be made up by media. How many players have we been linked to since end of the season considering we have 45m transfer budget. How do pay for and accommodate all the he players with that amount. Arsenal maybe a joke but the bigger joke are the fans who believe everything transfer rumour and abuse the club for it.

  4. Hello, Adim. Thank you for never publishing my posts. I’m starting to think it’s because I’m not British.
Now, about the transfer. If no other club’s is in for him, we’ll get him. If even Everton show interest in the guy, we can safely say goodbye to the player.

    1. I think you will find that it is because you change your name every five minutes. And EVERY New name gets moderated to start with, wherever you come from!

  5. Sorry to go off point with the actual post as most rumours are just what they are and I personally only listen to Ornstein on Arsenal transfers, buy anyway this will surely lighten up anyones day…………..you may have to click onto link to hear it, imo it`s gold …………

  6. Arsenal are just a joke of a club. If arsenal are serious they already know what they need to do to improve this team. We need two wingers; Neres of Ajax, Frasier will do too, then in Midfield they can Get doucoure of Watford, and switch to a 3 man midfield. They could get Childwell for left back, and finally a strong centre back and we are good to go. But instead they prefere wasting our time in doing nothing. I can see if we fans don’t start taking matters into our own hands this club will continue to deteriorate and won’t move forward.

I would advice the season ticket holders to wait until October to renew their Ticket. If only we had a way to reach every Arsenal fan out there. I will see if there is no one for the first 10 league matches if this irrelevant owner won’t make a rethink to his idiotic ways of handling the club.
We can only force him to make a change when we take the pressure to him, and we can do this by boycotting matches and not purchasing ticket so he can start losing money. if we can’t unite like this i don’t see us moving anywhere, we are in for a lot worse than what we have experienced over the years. I feel so gutted seeing other clubs progress under our noses, i feel even more ashamed to even hold a proper conversation with other club fans without them failing to point out a failure we have become. is it a crime to be an Arsenal fan ? what is even wrong with Korenke?

  7. We need 1 quality CAM and 2 quality Wingers

If Gotze is the best we can get than so be it.

    We have limited funds
We are not in Champions league. Top players either want big salary or CL
City Unit Liverpool Chelsea and Spurs all have better chance of getting top players over us
We are limited to the players we can get. We can’t get anyone we want

  8. To be honest the money is not the problem Arsenal went out of their way to satisfy some supporters by buying in expensive players to say we can but the real issue is not about the the money Leicester did it” Its about managing resources and address the problems”With a simple note
” We were 6 points shorts from top 4 or 2 match wins and 4 goal short from winning the European league ” were exactly did we go wrong “pin point accuracy” With all the video review and technical analysis the Mr Emery is known for We will soon see how they fix the issues we are suffering So I got to wait and see how Mr Emery addresses the problem
