Newcastle win is great – but Arsenal’s 10-step rebuilding programme continues

Three wins in a row, the rebuilding continues. by Konstantin Mitov

Hello lovely Arsenal people from all over the world! So we pulled off another away win, and it’s been forever since we last won 3 league games in a row, and after the international break it’s great to start with a win.

In all honesty it was a pretty dull game, especially the first half, but in the second we managed to raise our game enough to beat a poor Newcastle side. It wouldn’t be Arsenal if we didn’t leave with a pinch of salt as a clean sheet would’ve been nice though.

We were sleepwalking the last 10 minutes and we allowed a cross to beat our defense and Cech made a save, but again we learned nothing and conceded the next cross. Eventually we saw the game out with ease, but I want to see high concentration throughout 90 minutes.

This made me think of a list of the things I feel need to improve in order to regain our top 4 status.

1) Improve the defensive performances.
2) Start to win away from home.
3) Better results against the top 6 teams.
4) Improve training sessions.
5) Drop players if they don’t play well.
6) Reduce individual mistakes.
7) More managerial instructions and better half time talks.
8) Improve players confidence.
9) Tactical awareness and pressing.
10) Playing players in their best position and using a formation that works for them.

We can go into great detail for each point, but so far considering how many things were wrong last season, it would be truly miraculous if we just started dominating every game.

Players wise I still want to see Lichtsteiner over Bellerin as well as more minutes from Torreira, but if the results keep coming in, you can’t complain. We have the Europa League and then Everton is the big one. If we make it five in a row that should give us more confidence and bring more trust to the manager’s ideas.

Finally, I’m really impressed with Emery’s improvements in English and his desire to speak with the media and the players in the language of the land he works in. Hopefully this continues and the teams overall performance follows with it.

That’s me done for today. Have a great week ahead of you and I’ll see you all in the comments!
