Chambers´ attitude is FANTASTIC and will HELP Arsenal

With Carl Jenkinson impressing at West Ham and for the England under 21s, it seems like Arsenal have more right backs than we know what to do with. So perhaps it is just as well that Calum Chambers is versatile and could play in central defence or even defensive midfield.

Perhaps even more important for the Gunners is his brilliant attitude, highlighted once again in a Sky Sports report where he declared that he was happy to drop back down. The Arsenal youngster sees it as an honour and a great chance to play for his country, rather than a demotion and that shows that he has still got his head screwed on and his feet on the ground, despite his meteoric rise in football so far. And that cannot be said of too many young players these days.

Chambers said, “As I’ve always said, it’s an honour to play for your country, no matter what the age group.

“When I was asked to play for the U21s, of course I was going to come and play. I was really looking forward to this trip and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it so far.

“There is a smooth pathway between the U21s and the seniors now and there was an opportunity for me to play for the U21s so I jumped at it because I love to play for my country.

“Players should want to play for their country at any level and I’ve played for the senior team a few times, but that would never make me want to stop playing for the U21s. It’s an honour and you should never turn it down.

“The lads here are great and there is a brilliant atmosphere in the squad. It has been a really enjoyable trip so far.”

Chambers is going to need more of that attitude and love of the game in the next few years with Arsenal, because our squad is looking stronger and stronger. And he may not even know his best position for a while but that is something he takes on board as well. He came on as a defensive midfielder for England last night and he has done well at centre back for us already.

Has Wenger got Arsenal the perfect belnd of ability, attitude and versatility?
