Chambers shock move to Fulham confirmed by Arsenal

I don’t think there are many Arsenal fans that are happy to see Calum Chambers move across London to Fulham as many of us felt that he was one of most consistent defenders in pre-season. But he obviously doesn’t fit into Emery’s plans this season as the Spaniard seems very happy to let him go. Emery said: “Calum is a talented defender who has a bright future. We all believe this loan at Fulham will be an important part of his development and wish him a successful season.”

Chambers himself is very happy with the deal, and at least he should be assured of first team football at the Cottagers. He told FulhamFC: “I’m really excited. I watched a lot of Fulham last season, I really like the way they play football, there’s a good manager, it’s a great club, so I’m really excited for the season ahead,”

“Everyone can see that Fulham’s a club that likes to play football, play football from the back, through the lines. That’s the style of football I like as well, so I think it fits me and suits the way I play.”

Well I wish the Englishman luck, but I have a feeling that Emery is going to regret this one when the games start piling up and the injury list starts growing.

But we will see, won’t we?

  1. I bet Emery was honest with Chambers that he would not feature much in this season, as what he explained to Wilshere

I think Chambers is gonna be a missed opportunity, because he has good technique, good stamina, high work rate and pretty tall to be a good DM/ CB, despite he is slow

Because of this, I guess Mustafi is not gonna be sold

    1. I’m happy for chambers. At 23 he need to be playing regularly for a club. Fulham was his best option

OT: News making the rounds is that the Dembele deal is very much in play… Statement signing maybe? Brace yourselves guys were in for a frantic finish to this summers transfer window.

Come on gunners make It happen ???

  2. I too think it’s a mistake to let Chambers go. He looked good at the end of last season and in pre-season games. Emery knows best then??
Fans on here have been asking for Soyunku from Freiburg but according to reports this morning he’s on his way to Leicester for £22 million.

      1. Arsenal missed an opportunity there for a young up and coming International FB, just like we missed out on Van Dijk when he left Glasgow Celtic.
The loan of Chambers was probably at his request and shows that he wasn’t prepared to fight for his spot.
The transfers in this window smack of “short termism” with the Trinity appearing to be looking for experience to hopefully assure quick results.

  3. If we don’t sign a quality CB before the deadline day then i see no sense behind this loan move, so technically we have Sokratis, Mustafi, Mavropanos and Holding as our available center backs and i see no REAL quality in any of these defenders, but i hope Emery performs a miracle with them other wise it’s going to be a very long season for starting from Sunday

  4. OT:
I don’t want to believe the Dembele rumour. but it’s looking more likely as the day goes by …

Kroenke will be wise to splash the cash on one marquee signing due to the unrest his take – over has caused during the last 24hours . Fans would be happy

  5. Call me naive …. but I think one marquee signing is on its way . whether it’s Dembele or any other player, that remains to be seen

  6. I am totally in shock.
Worlds best CB Chambers on loan?
    What next?
Shock Another CB is coming in.
My heart can’t stand all these shocks.
Shock Europe’s top GK Ospina to leave. Unbelievable.
    Shock Leno signed.
Shock world’s greatest strikers Perez, Wellbeck and Campbell sold.
    Shock new attacker signed.
Shock world’s best RB Jenkinson sold. Nooooooo.
Shocking I would never have forcast any of
    these superstars leaving.

  7. Chambers has no chance at Arsenal. Sokratis, Koscielny, Mustafi, Holding, Movrapanos. Chambes is a good player but he won’t getting game time. If anything, it proves Chambers is ahead of Holding.

    1. Koscielny is finished like
      Cazorla was finished 2 years
before he finally called it a day.
Bad achilles injuries are career ending.
Another CB is on the way.

  8. Six centre backs and not one top quality.Strange decision as Mustafi and Socratis will get torn apart by the likes of Man City and Liverpool.Mav is a great prospect however and could become a star.Holding is the one who should have been loaned out.

    1. holding deserves a shot in the first team chambers does not!! that’s not me saying it that’s the people in charge of running the club the ones that watch him train day in day out, and most importantly the ones than know if he is good enough for the team, the Old Days are gone noone gets special treatment the way it should be done!

  9. At least he is probably going to get valuable games under his belt, and this should help his development and improve his technical awareness defensively.
He is a good player and has a good attitude hats off to him I hope he come back and becomes a legend like Adams. (we can dream).

    1. his only shot is if he has the season of a lifetime, if he has another season like the past couple most of you would forget he was even was at the club in a few years. so good luck to him hope he pulls a coquelin for his sake as time is ticking!!

  10. if Chambers is only “loaned out” then there’s no reason to be concerned – who is managing here? from what we’ve come to understand the arsenal coach isn’t a fool and has a vision, he should be free to realise that arsenal vision without fan complaint and (hopefully) without financial restraint.

so let’s see how this all unfolds and remain loyal, encouraged and supportive; allow unai emery to do what he does best. The door has not been closed on CC so let it be – i’m certain we’ll see put in place a far more concrete addition(s) to the side as this transfer window draws to a close #COYG

  11. I do like CC, he’s a decent lad and you can tell he wants it, its not mostly about the lifestyle for him. I like how he has to be a clever player, reading and positioning in his tool kit, improved his passing too. Other players might have better recovery speed, but for me great at recovery points to mistakes trying to be made up. He’s calmer than the others, I like that too. He throws himself in the way of danger whereas you can find some who show their back to opponents. Flapping, we’ve seen a few flappers in defence, he’s not one of them. Hopefully now with the game time we’ill see Chambers making some good strides, it is the best for the player he needa the game time at this stage. But if we buy some players and Chambers finds it even more difficult to get into next seasons AFC first eleven, I hope he agrees to stay and fight because we need a certain type in reserve too. I’ll respect that he wants to play, if it was me I’d rather take less money and play somewhere else than sit in reserve, but I have a huge soft spot for players like Parlour, Kanu, Grimandi, Keown, all played reserve allot of the time even though they could get game time easily elsewhere. The badge, that’s the name of that group.

  12. From what I can tell Fulham made a very attractive offer ie decent loan fee, 100% wages and guaranteed play time. Arsenal looked at the squad decided we were going 2 at the back and that the experienced Mustafi/Sokratis/Vida or whoever we sign would be the 1st choices as Emery wants experience this year. Arsenal rate Chambers and they felt compared to Holding he was the better one who would be more likely to actually get regular Prem football and benefit from it.

It all suggests that Holding is in trouble and needs to really kick on this year or he will be out and that will be difficult as he will have limited playing time. Find it quite funny how few people see this and seem to think the opposite but we will see next year. Certainly Chambers has a bigger chance to impress at Fulham.
