Change of plan – Kroenke tasked with Ozil’s Arsenal future

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke will now take control of Mesut Ozil’s contract negotiations, with Dick Law having previously failed to agree terms.

The German international is nearing the final 12 months of his Gunners deal, leaving a huge cloud of uncertainty over his future with the club.

Arsenal have been talking with the World Cup winning midfielder since last season, and have seemed no nearer to agreeing a new contract, and now the owner’s son Josh has had to step-in to try and prevent his exit.

Mesut Ozil has become a key player since joining from Real Madrid in a £42 Million deal, but has come under increased criticism from fans this term, with many frustrated with his supposedly dire work rate.

His creative spark is something near-unreplaceable however, and remains one of our biggest assets, but we may be forced to consider his exit for a cut-down fee should we fail to agree terms, or risk losing him for free 12 months later.

The owners appear to have given up relying on Dick Law to agree terms with Ozil prior to the summer window, and Josh Kroenke is now expected to take control.

The 36 year-old is believed to have a good relationship with Mesut, and if he can’t agree a way for the German to extend his deal, then maybe he will have to be sold come the summer.

Alexis Sanchez is also in a similar position, with his contract also nearing it’s final season, and he is strongly linked with a move away from the club also.

The summer could be a disaster with our two best players eyeing moves away, as well as the huge cloud of uncertainty over Arsene Wenger, who is out of contract in a matter of months.

Will Kroenke be able to persuade Ozil to sign? Will he now have to take over all important negotiations?

  1. it shows the chronic mis-management at our club, every season we have players entering the last year of their contract, where we have to sell, or risk losing them, as much as i hate Daniel Levy, when does this ever happen at Tottenham, or any other premiership club…

  2. Eventhoughj it is very bad for this to happen but I keep wishing Ozil doesn’t sign, the only advantage he brings to is the name,..’Ozil is an Arsenal player’ that’s all…

He is even saying, he won’t change his style..what an arrogant player, just like his manager, too comfortable, just like his manager…

    1. I get so angry when I watch him jog around in defence watching his teammates trying to break down play. Give him a sun bed and a piña colada because he does f#%k all.

  3. Just sell him and get a better player….

    Isco to replace carzola

    Reus to replace ozil

  4. Hahaha this has to be a joke.
Like Wenger, what has Ozil done to deserve a new contract and a pay rise???
We are seriously a joke in world football.

  5. As Arsenal supporter I don’t like to see Ramsey ,Alexes , Monreal , Gebrail , Walcott,Frances ,Hecotor ,Ayobi next years and for ever even the owner’s I don’t like to see him at Arsenal and the guy next Wenger to all of these they don’t deserve to be in this club .

  6. Let him go! I HOPE..PRAY he goes! He is everything wrong with our midfield..may he take Ramsey and Wenger with him!

  7. “His creative spark is something near-unreplaceable however”. Give me a break already with this cliched and hollow defense of the one of the most over rated playmaker in the world. Ancelotti really did a number on Wenger with 42mil sell. Now its time to sell him to Anywhere, get 30 mil and run.

  8. In a way, this could be good news. I would doubt Josh Kroenke has enough experience to handle Ozil’s seasoned agent who probably stands to earn more if Ozil get’s sold. Personally, I don’t think his Josh’s relationship with Ozil is going to persuade Ozil.

  9. Wanting to bring-in Marc Overmars as director of football? Wanting to take-over contract negotiations to keep our most high-profile players?

Sounds like Josh Kroenke is the only person wanting to do the right things at Arsenal. Is he perhaps presenting us Gooners with a glimmer of hope for the future?

  10. After the way Ozil has played this season and the way us Arsenal fans have been mugged again and again by the club and the players, i don’t give a dam if Ozil goes, in fact i want him to go and if the club lose money then it’ll be no more than Kroenke deserves.

  11. If we get an offer over $35,000,000 let him go. Put Isco there and Gueye or Fabinho next to Ox in the DM and deep playmaker roll and we will be set
