Former Chelsea player Jody Morris was surprised that the Blues managed to beat Arsenal to the signing of Morgan Rogers, and he now wants his former club to attempt to sign Bradley Barcola ahead of the Gunners.
Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing the Frenchman, alongside Liverpool. With it now clear that the Gunners have missed out on Vinicius Junior, they could increase their efforts to secure Barcola’s signature.
Chelsea could enter the race for Barcola
The Frenchman is reportedly giving preference to Liverpool, but that situation may have been influenced by Arsenal’s focus on completing a deal for Vinicius. If the Gunners become more serious about competing for Barcola, they could still have a chance of winning the race despite Paris Saint-Germain demanding a significant fee.
The transfer battle remains open, and Chelsea have already shown they are willing to invest heavily in improving their squad. Their willingness to spend a large amount of money to sign Rogers means they could potentially meet PSG’s valuation of Barcola if the player becomes interested in joining them.
Morris believes Chelsea should try
Morris has been following his former team’s efforts to strengthen the squad this summer, and he believes signing another top attacking talent would be a major achievement. As quoted by the Metro, he said: “I would have loved to have been in a position where we can go after Barcola.
“But I said this previously, I was really surprised that we managed to get Morgan Rogers through the door when he’s playing for a team that’s already in the Champions League and reportedly had the champions of England [Arsenal] after him as well.
“I was really surprised that we managed to get him through the door so I think it would be wishful thinking if we were then able to get another player of that ilk [Barcola] who has just won the Champions League twice.”
Chelsea’s ability to compete financially could make them a serious option in the race for Barcola. However, with Arsenal and Liverpool also interested, the final decision could depend on the player’s preferred destination and the clubs’ willingness to complete a deal.

I doubt that we’d bid for him at the price PSG are asking.
I’ve read elsewheere that we now have an interest in Evertons’ Iliman Ndiaye, who’d come at a much more reasonable fee.

It’s not all down to Berta, he has to pass it through others as well. I don’t get you’re impatience.
If we go into the season or when the window shuts having not addressed the areas that need improving, then to a point it will be open season on those responsible.
But wait until the season starts before continually blowing a gasket. I think you need to get you’re blood pressure checked, it must be sky high at times. Chill out and relax my friend, life is to short to keep appearing stressed.
We currently have 3 good left wingers no need to waste any more money. Chelseas focus should be on outgoing players at the moment. If chelsea are truly interested in winning titles I believe they should go and get a proven goal keeper and maybe one more proven centerback.
