Club executive admits they will consider selling Arsenal target in January for the right price

Denis Zakaria is one of many players who have been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Swiss midfielder is running down his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach and has been in fine form.

He will move to a top club as a free agent in the summer and Metro Sport reports Arsenal still wants him.

A January move would help Gladbach secure some money from his sale and it seems the German club is thinking about that.

In a recent interview, their sporting director Max Eberl admits they will look to cash in on him if an opportunity presents itself.

He told BILD as quoted by Calciomercato: “Zakaria? If he or another player expressed their willingness to leave the club, we would be stupid not to address the issue.

“We should consider whether keeping him will bring us more advantages or less in the second half of the season. Before the end of the season I’d like to see the Swiss sign the renewal ”

Just Arsenal Opinion

Zakaria would add top-quality to Arsenal’s midfield if we can win the race for his signature.

Signing him for free in the summer would be smart, but most clubs want to do that.

Arsenal can easily steal a march on his other suitors by signing him in the January transfer window.

He can provide immediate value by covering for the departure of Thomas Partey to AFCON.

Perhaps he and the Ghanaian could become the new midfield pairing at the club.

  1. He could be the DM we have been lacking for so long and enable us to use the likes of Partey and Lokonga in box to box roles where they can have more impact on the game .

  2. I have said this transfer for months on here, Zakaria is exactly what we need for a decent price in Jan considering he has 6months left. Its a win win for all parties involved.

Gladbach get some money for a player who will leave for nothing in 6months time, We buy cheaply what we need in a ready made midfielder who is 24 & can step in right away once Partey goes to AFCON. Elneny also who will be leaving permantly but AMN can fill that void imo.

Everybody is a winner. Plus, Gladbach/Xhaka both want that reunion and we can make that hapoen also when the time is right nearer the end of his new contract.

I would also be looking at letting Laca leave in Jan, Martinelli is ready as is Bologun who is smashing them in every week at youth level, he needs gametime. Between both of them can fill that void plus if impresses give Mikel the chance to also sell Auba in the summer.

Saliba i am hoping returns this summer to get a run, even getting into the cup games for experince espcially if we get back into Europa or UCL.

Bellerin, Kola, Leno, Eddie & one of either Chambers/Mari or Holding also need to be sorted one way or another out the door. I would sell Holding, Chambers has more utility and Mari is just cover!!
