Confirmed Arsenal line-up to face Leicester tonight – Lichtsteiner starts!

Here we go for the big game tonight and I for one am very excited to get our Premier League run back up and running for our 10th win in a row!

Here is the team that i predicted in my Arsenal v Leicester Preview earlier…

Leno
Bellerin Holding Mustafi Monreal
Torreira Xhaka Ramsey
Ozil Lacazette Aubameyang

With Sokratis out I am sure Holding will keep his place and he may even keep it when the Greek is fully fit! Ozil is back and I would be very surprised if he is left on the bench….

Anyway, here is Emery’s confirmed line-up so let’s see if he differs from my choices….

Wow! Still Aubameyang left on the bench and Lichtsteiner playing on the left ahead of Monreal, Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles! But I am very glad that Holding is in the team but not so sure about Ozil….

But seeing Medley and Smith-Rowe on the bench tells me that Emery is starting to use a little rotation with Lisbon in mind on Thursday, not to mention Crystal Palace next weekend…

    1. He was not able to make Arsenal steal the first goal when he started as a striker and he played unimpressively as a winger

Lacazette is on fire now, so it is good to burn Aubameyang’s motivation by benching him and start Lacazette

      1. I believe it’s solely down to the difference that he and Ramsey both made towards that second half, you can’t ignore that. When Arsenal were at their very best it was when we had players on the bench able to come on and make a huge difference. Some may say balance played a part with this decision, if we are talking about Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan well then I am not so sure as to agree.

  1. This is a good line-up to play at home:

    ………………….Leno
    Bellerin . Mustafi . Holding . Lichtsteiner
    ………..Torreira ….. Xhaka
    Mkhitaryan …….Ozil ………Iwobi
    ……………….Lacazette

Apparently Emery sees who is fit to play tonight

    1. Why that CM of normal quality still starts is beyond me.Hoping to see Nwakali and AMN in that midfield as starters one day.

    1. U23 CB.Would’ve preferred him to start over that dreadful overhyped guy.Our standards have become so low that when he doesn’t make a mistake we term it a “world class” performance.

  2. Hopefully we can win tonight. Vardy has a good record against us. With this in mind could be exposed at the back Lictsteiner lack of pace. Would rather see another left back who can get physical.

  3. Are all our LB’s out? Very sparse defending options. We’ll have to hope nobody is injured. Don’t know anything about Medley. Anyone familiar with him?

As for the XI, it’s pretty good. I like it. I’m surprised Aubameyang is on the bench, but Iwobi has been in form and has earned his start. Let’s see how he does.

  4. A little surprising, I thought Monreal was a bit overplayed and it showed in his last couple of games. He is not injured is he, I haven’t heard about it if he is. Looking forward to seeing an Ozil who must be itching to get going and having someone like Lacazette in front of him should be good. Mkhitaryan I want to see light up this league. I believe he has that capability and hopefully Emery will give him the nudge. Iwobi I hope to see carrying on with his improvement by taking this lot on. Come on you Arsenal, come on you Gunners, and come on you Gooner’s.

  5. It takes alot of alcohol for me to be able to stand Vardy’s face but hopefully it will be worth it

      1. Kane never needes to dress up for trick or treat

  6. Better ball players but not much pace … main worry are full backs .. won’t be easy can’t understand dropping Aubrey to bench

  7. Wow, I thought this gonna be an easy game

Ricardo Pereira is torturing Lichtsteiner. Been admiring his abilities since he played for Nice, too bad Arsenal did not recruit this versatile right fullback/ winger

  8. Just drop bellerin he’s another football fraud … neither fast skillful or good at defending utterly shite player

  9. Arsenal playing like a Crab 3 steps forwards and two backwards
make me sick……. now the results loosing by one

  10. …Leno with an good save (again)… 2 excellent keepers on display – we gotta beat this lot at home if we’re serious about top tier finish. Belerin ain’t good enough for ARS … its been said repeatedly!

    1. Bellerin did a suicide, but Leicester’s attack begun with Ozil

Ozil gave up instead of chasing the ball back after getting robbed, then the excellent quick counter-attack by Leicester

  11. I wonder why Emery did not set up the same dynamic 4-4-2?

Even a fan like me can tell which player will play in which position

All attackers get stuck in their positions and Leicester players can easily mark them

  12. Arsenal have been full of slow 1st half displays this season. Not every team is going to let that go unpunished. Not a good performance from anyone at the moment.

    1. I think I have a new favorite captain. Time for captaon birdseye to move from the no. 1 spot

  13. 1 goal down after 34min.The gunners seem
to be playing like beforeie pass after pass with no goal threat.
They may have 65pc possession but the foxes look more threatening.Since then1-1.
If the gunners play like when Ozil scored
    they shd win.
Defenders have no time to react compared
    to pass after pass.

  14. Lichtsteiner and Xhaka need to come off at half-time.Xhaka has been just okay but is on a yellow and will definitely get a red if he is allowed to play the second half. Litch is the worst player on the pitch. Him and Iwobi have absolutely no understanding.
Miki is awfully quiet and was to blame as well for the goal conceded as he didn’t track his man Chilwell who scored the goal.

  15. Aubameyang should come in for Miki and Iwobi should be moved to the right. Ozil and Torriera as you were.

    1. couldn’t agree more. He’s looking a bit lost in the game while everyone else around him has turned up the tempo.

  16. No matter what you do in life some people will still not like you,I don’t know how anyone can say iwobi is playing bad, just stop hating and support the team

  17. Glad I’m not behind the LCFC goal in the 2nd half. Mkhi showing his contempt for gooners by trying to kick the ball in their faces at the beginning of the second half.

  18. Thank god we’re beating a club that decides to employ someone with a face like Vardy.

    This could have been embarrasing.

  19. top 6 is a guarantee

the gap between the big 6 and the rest are just too wide…

only injuries and consistency can stop us from finishing outside top 6

  20. Jamie Vardy off the pitch

    *puts flask away*

  21. That was a real treat, thank you Arsenal.

Bellerin, Guendouzi, Torriera, Iwobi, Aubameyang, and of course Ozil. So many of them had a very very good game, am I forgetting anyone. Credit to the whole team, the mentality, and Emery of course with his decisive changes. I love how they tried so hard to get Lacazette onto the score-sheet, esp Auba he kept looking for him. He was watched very tightly for most of the game, good effort and a little unlucky. Onwards and upwards.

  22. Iwobi man of the match? he was so good but I think Ozil was superb… I still can’t believe Owen Hargreaves still thinks Spuds is better than us and has a better chance at attaining top four … we are staking our claims and people talk as if Leicester were just going to let us get it easy and let us play our silk footy, but it wasn’t the case, we had to fight and dig deep and we could even have got more goal, I say let the media continue with all there talks while we do ours on the pitch, I am still not getting ahead of myself but I am enjoying every single match… Gunner for life ???
