CONFIRMED Arsenal team and Cologne preview

Having already qualified for the next round of the Europa League, Arsenal do not have to risk too much away to Cologne tonight, but at the same time it would be much better to get a result in Germany that would guarantee us top spot and keep the confidence building.

With a strong squad to choose from Arsene Wenger does have very good options for this midweek game while keeping the Premier League away tie with Burnley on Sunday in mind, though, so the Arsenal XI tonight will be expected to beat the struggling German team.

Ospina
Debuchy, Mertesacker, Holding
Chambers, Coquelin, Elneny, Maitland-Niles
Welbeck, Wilshere, Giroud

subs: Macey, Sheaf, Willock, Nelson, Iwobi, Nketiah, Akpom

That front three looks good with the return of Welbeck from injury and two players in Wilshere and Giroud that have something to prove and undoubted ability. Maybe Jack will play more as a number 10 as there does not seem to be too much attacking flair in the midfield. Good to see Chambers back.

The defence should be getting used to playing the new system and each other by now and there is good protection in front of them and hopefully a focused Ospina behind them, so with our firepower and the respective forms of the two sides this has to be an Arsenal win right?

  1. Having already qualified I would have liked to see a couple of the lads on the bench start the game, particually Nelson

  2. Off topic–hey Admin, I regularly read tour page but today why am i opening justarsenal.com just to see a “buy Manunited shirt advert even befor the topics “??? Seriously!!!
I wish I can upload the screenshots to ya all.
It just sucks to see there name of all the teams.
    Please do something about it

  3. what a terrible game to watch.
    Everyone has been pathetic.
Welbeck and wilshere have shown glimpses of promise

    1. maitland niles too imo. the rest are not first team material. the formation is so conservative and fields too many defenders (mert, chambers, holding, debuchy, coquelin, elneny). so i am not surprised this carabao/europa team is always drawing or winning by 1 goal margins. further on the cup we will get eliminated if they continue playing like that

  4. 49″ boring colorless. tasteless and disgraceful game
Arsenal playing to nothing side ways and backwards
I am shutting off the tv and I am going back to rake the leaves
and remember at the same time the 2004 Arsenal team

  5. this game shows how one dimensional wenger is. plays 7 defenders against a 0-2-10 bundesliga side. i hate to criticise wenger but today he is ball-less
