Confirmed Arsenal team to face Liverpool- Havertz and Jorginho start

Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates in a game that the Gunners need to win and this is the team that Mikel Arteta has selected.

This match holds significant importance for Arsenal. A loss would place them a substantial eight points adrift of the Reds in the standings, effectively extinguishing their prospects of clinching the Premier League trophy this season. Conversely, a victory would alter the dynamics of the title race, solidifying Arsenal’s position as legitimate contenders for the championship.

A draw may favour Liverpool more than Arsenal, yet it would, at the very least, maintain the Gunners’ presence in the title conversation.

Liverpool is in formidable form, having recently triumphed 4-1 over Chelsea. However, Arsenal has also exhibited commendable performances since the onset of the new year, instilling confidence as they prepare to face Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Arsenal has already demonstrated this season, notably against Manchester City, their capability to overcome any opponent at the Emirates. Hopefully, they will replicate that win over the Citizens against the Reds today.

      1. Injured again? Perhaps it is time to consider moving Jesus on?

Good attitude, but simply unreliable due to constantly being injured.

  1. I don’t know how best to react to this line up, but i hope we get the job done.
That’s all that matters at the end.
If we can’t win, then we should at least, not lose.

    COYG 💪

    1. I honestly believe the time has come for us to get rid of Party, Jesus and any other player who is injured every 5 minutes. We are paying enormous amounts of money for them not to play, not there fault granted but enough is enough.
Looking at both teams for today and I’m not overly confident

      1. Arsenal are good at that, diaby, wilshere, ramsay, chamberlain and countless others spent more on treatment table than game field. And it seems this trend has no ending anytime soon

  2. Sick note Jesus hanging in the infirmary with Partey.

Havertz up top, I don’t expect any threat from him.

Gonna be a stressful evening for sure.

    1. He might not be a goal threat, I expect him to be a pain in the neck of their defences paving ways for our wingers and midfielder to score….Best wishes to Arsenal 2 1 in favour of Arsenal bcos Liverpool always score

      1. Bravo – you got it right . Good victory.

DaJuhi- do you want to say something about your prediction for a stressful night?

  3. Oh my world, where will our goals come from? Non of our frontline have been in scintillating form or clinical. It would seem a long night for Arsenal. I see a draw in this game it willl be a big deal if we win. Zichenko will have a tough time with an inform Jota

    1. We have to learn from Liverpool when it come to adapting in adverse conditions. Like both central pair defender being injured, overhauling all midfielder and then only reluctantly replacing them with second or third choice players, people making fun that no players wanting to go to Liverpool, both pair of goal threats from wing back being injured to flopping forward in Darwin, And Yet they sit pretty clear at top. So, we could not have any excuses for our failure and better try to make it right.

  4. Entry into starting 11 for Kai is not based on merit

He & Trossard were subs last match & the latter was splendid – that should have earned him a starting this week

    What’s more ?

When Kai starts Arteta will be very reluctant to sub him.

Kai won’t go off unless we are loosing and it’s 5 minutes left

  5. listen guys, if Arsenal lose this match, that means they are not worthy to be champions. We should accept the third position.

  6. Martinelli usually skins TAA all day long, the question is will there be anyone in the box when Martinelli beats him? Havertz likes to hang back are rarely makes proper runs into the box, Trossard and ESR are great at that but on the bench.

Can’t see many overlapping runs from midfield with this team.

  7. Also, if you miss Jesus as ST, always remember Arteta didn’t buy a ST in the summer or winter, he chose to buy Kai as CF who can’t score.

  8. So the big German will leads the line again, good line up.

Gabriel Magalhaes has to be switch on for the entire ninety

Would like to see more inter play between Saka and Martinelli, with the big German leading the line surely there should a lot to feed off.

It will be interesting to know the gaffer Trump’s card.

  9. Havertz terrible attempt! Luckily the ball going straight to Saka….

2 poor misses already but good to be ahead at least!

    1. Dominating Liverpool like that twice now as we have done and the tactical match vs city makes me see how much terrible finishing is costing us.

      1. It’s also because Liverpool don’t play a low block, we are much better on the counter when team actually try attack us

    1. Yes I think it’s because Ode is playing nice and central this game whereas he’s often on the right hand side if Havertz/ESR are playing in the midfield.

Martinelli stretching the Liverpool midfield by playing nice and wide knowing TAA can’t handle him alone.

      1. Odeggard can play centrally because jorginho can give him those pass. That’s why partey absence has been killing our attacking play, rice monster that he is doesn’t have that passing in his locker

  10. Stupid yellow for ben white for the atrocious throw ins he is known for. Gave a chance for the ref to give a Liverpool a helping hand.

Early yellow vs diaz is dangerous

    1. Havertz has played his role brilliantly so far imo – it enabled us to get the wingers into dangerous positions, and made space for some nice passes through the middle

        1. That’s a fair point, but the way he’s dropped into midfield was key to our dominating the game – he played his tactical role well. He’s not a striker, or goalscorer, obviously, but we knew that before the game today

    1. Raya completely on his heels not paying attention, Sakiba should’ve just cleared it because you can’t trust Raya like that. Ramsdale would’ve gotten that I guarantee it.

    1. Literally seconds to go and we shoot ourselves in the foot again. Will we ever learn? The communication at the back is hideous!

  11. Havertz doesn’t know what a close post run is, could’ve had 2-3 great chances if he wasn’t so clueless.

Here you see where our massive missed chances are telling! Feel free to call me negative I couldn’t care less what the short sighted fans say that can’t look past “we 1 nil up and dominating” so no problem.

      1. he wasn’t blamed for the goal. Blamed for making awful runs when Saka and Martinelli have provided excellent service all game. These things matter and now were yet again up against it because we don’t take our chances well enough.

        1. I ask myself why this has cropped up seconds after the own goal? Sorry, I don’t get complaints about an own goal not scored by Havertz
We should have gone in at half time a goal up

          1. Yes I’m saying we are now drawing because of missed chances that we could’ve been ahead even with conceding.

      2. Ignore them sue they are blinded by hate. They just showed how havertz dropping deep opened the space he ran into for the goal. He is disturbing Liverpool marking with his false 9 role.

Yes his finish is terrible but that’s no reason to claim he’s useless

        1. Okay, so Havertz can do one thing and then he’s done for the rest of the game? Also, the hoops people need to jump through the make Havertz look good is ridiculous. He does anything basic and is praised to high hell. How about he score a damn goal if he’s so great and then I’ll gladly shut up for the rest of the day.

        2. Rubbish! I don’t hate Havertz at all but I expect someone playing up front to be making half decent runs into the box when crosses come in!

As im writing this Ian Wright is saying exactly what I am!

Or do you not expect a forward to make good runs when we are crossing? Stop making excuses hiding behind “they hate Haverts”, it’s weak reasoning!

Arsenal should’ve had more than 1 goal, or are you trying to argue that? I support Arsenal and I’ll call out if someone is not doing theur job! The same way I called out Saka for missing a easy chance too….or do we hate Saka too? No logic

    1. If I could get a nickel every time we’ve missed a proper chance, I would be a wealthy man.

Great thing we decided to spend our money on luxury Chelsea reject and another goalkeeper rather than a striker.

  12. Purely Saliba’s fault. Can’t blame Raya or Gabriel.

This is the best we have played and yet it is 1-1.

    1. Raya was fast asleep too! The moment a defender turns to shield he should be out of the blocks. Both poor

  13. Typical Arsenal. It’s never, never easy, and just when it is, we conspire to score an own goal, just so it isn’t.

  14. It amazes me how in high level games like this you can be well on top, but one mistake or bad moment can change everything. I hope we come out with fire in the second half.

      1. we’ve grown accustomed to seeing us “almost” score, more than actually score. Top teams have better finishers and are at least 2-0 up by now and punish opponents. Why has Mikel hardly invested in attackers that are good finishers? He is always trying to buy defenders and expects everyone EXCEPT his striker to score goals.

Also, why didn’t we sell Eddie in January exactly, didn’t Palace want him? Jesus is out and the guy doesn’t start. So what is he still doing at the club? I’m getting really tired of the bad decision making that Mikel and co. consistently make. Eddie’s value will never be as high as it was this Jan window and let’s remember those ridiculous wages he’s on too.

      2. I agree with you that we’re lacking finishing ability – why the accusatory tone?
Either way, Liverpool haven’t had to finish a chance because of a cock up

  15. Classic Arsenal. It’s so predictable. Don’t have the nerves to achieve anything noteworthy. Had enough chances to go 2-0 up, instead throw away all the hard work from the last 45 minutes. It’s simply not good enough. This side is extremely unconvincing. Arteta has had enough time to put together a team that delivers better performances than this.

  16. Before anyone blames Saliba let me ask you if ramsdale was in goal do you think we would have conceded that

    1. It is Saliba’s fault. But you’re also right. Raya has zero chemistry with the backline. All season. The communication always seems to break down at least once per match. This time we don’t get away with it. We love to concede ridiculously cheap goals this season no matter how much we are up by or how close a game is. He’s not good enough, David Raya.

      1. The second a defender turns to shield like that a keeper should be bolting out.

Both are too blame but Raya was on his heels and then makes a very weak attempt

        1. Agree, if Raya was going to make an attempt make it convincing. Everyone in that situation doesn’t do anything with conviction.

    2. I don’t think so. He would have shouted or clear both the ball and saliba. Poor communication and decision making there. We hope for a better second half. We must win this match.

    3. Ramsdale wouldn’t have conceded that goal if he were to be in goal post.

That was was poor from Raya, he was close enough to have gotten that ball.

Goal keeping is all about stopping goals and not just the kicks.

We need to be doing better than this honestly speaking.

      Let’s win it GOONERS.

  17. Our goal was good, but Liverpool’s goal was just a result of our inability to escape from Liverpool’s high-press

Liverpool could play from the back easily despite having to play at the Emirates, whereas we had to resort to long passes from Raya

If we can’t fix this problem when meeting big teams, we wouldn’t be able to win any major trophy this season

    1. Yes you are right that they press us much better in our half, but that goal was not a result of that, that was just inexcusable. Three people to clear one ball.

      1. The panic in the back happened because our GK and defenders were overwhelmed by Liverpool’s press

If there was more space and minimal threat, they would’ve been able to make better decisions

    2. What worries me now is
      1. Our bench is so poor
      2. Heads will be down
      3. I can see liverpool going on to win comfortably now
But I am a half glass empty sort of bloke but didn’t used to be

  18. A goal keeper could have communicated with his defenders and rush out to get the ball.

This is really silly, in a big games you don’t do bonanza by giving goal gift to your opponents.

I pray we win this game.

  19. I blame Raya and Saliba. Surely they are communicating? The keeper has to come and collect the ball or Saliba needs to kick it out for a corner. Between them they boobed!

  20. This was the toughest test Liverpool had to play out of the back so whatever you are talking about is nonsense.

  21. Slowing down the game to have control of it cos you’re already a goal ahead is brilliant

But that doesn’t mean the bite to score more goals should disappear

    1. @Reggie
Saliba had Diaz in check. Raya should have came out and smothered the ball when he saw Saliba shielding Diaz. Gabriel jumped in and when Diaz toed the ball, it was going away from goal , hit Gabriel’s hand, he then turned it into goal. Saliba is not complacent in the flub. Both Raya and Gabriel are. Jus sayin…

      1. I dont think Saliba had Diaz in check. Plus, it was the wrong place to try and hold a player like Diaz off. The deflection off Gabriel was just unfortunate for him, he couldn’t do much about it..

        1. @Reggie
He had Diaz in check waiting Raya to come smother the ball. Gabriel joined in and disrupted the play, he literally turned the ball into our net, it was headed away from goal.Jus sayin…

  22. Zinchenko off for Kiwior with Liverpool already growing in confidence after our mistake. Could be a long tough second half this!

    1. Certainly looks like klopp has his team on the front foot already. The silly goal has given them the boost we should never have given them.

  23. Much better from Havertz against Konate, that’s what we want to see from him! Battling the last defender

  24. Jorginho legs are gone now we gonna struggle to control the game. Esr is a risky sub but can kill the game on a counter.

  25. Think Liverpools mistake is not putting a man tighter to Jorginho IMO, you give hime time he’ll pick passes all day long.

    1. Faking a stamp from VVD is pretty pathetic I agree!

If you could comprehend, the issue os with Havertz as a goal threat not general play 🤣 keep up son

      1. No you have an issue with his terrible finishing as i have but some here see nothing good absolutely nothing.

He could score 5 goals and still get criticised.

    1. Rubbish….Havertz blatantly charged into VVD not even looking at the ball and didn’t get a yellow. Then fakes being stamped on and doesn’t get a yellow for that either

      Where’s the bias reffing exactly?

        1. Kai was our best player in the last 15 minutes

Even Raya started lumping goal kicks to him and he did very well with almost all of them

  26. One of Havertz best games for us by far, excluding his striker instinct which in his defence he’s not a striker.

Would be great if hecplayed like this when in midfield in future, would be great for the Arsenal!

  27. What a beauty from Trossand ……!!

Other than the mess up just before half time, this is the Arsenal that pleases watching. All through the game, you wouldn’t doubt they wanted to win this game!! Well done!!

Why can’t we have this intensity week in week out rather than some apologetic displays we’ve often witnessed ?!!

  28. I thought this was Havertz’s best game as an Arsenal player.

Great night to be a Gunner.

  29. Well done DAN SMITH for getting the score EXACTLY RIGHT.

Who cares that all your predictions for yesterdays games were wrong. Not I!

THIS is the one that MATTERS!
