CONFIRMED Arsenal team to face Liverpool – Sanchez out!

Well everybody can usually easily predict which Arsenal team that Arsene Wenger will pick every week, but today he has shocked us all by leaving out Alexis Sanchez, and reinstating Olivier Giroud as centre-forward.

Could this be because he wants to rest the Chilean ahead of massive 4-0 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday (lol), or maybe he has a slight injury like Ozil? Le Prof has also left Ramsey, Perez and Walcott on the bench too. Is this also to rest them for our Champions League fixture? Another shock is that Danny Welbeck will start on the wing despite being much less match-fit than our benchers…..

        1. the writing is on the wall. this is how the team will look next season. No sanchez No ozil. We should get used to it. The only thing i am sad is Perez- the one person who looks like he can make a difference but is always in the bench

  7. We had a whole week extra to prepare. Unless something happened in training I cannot for the life of me see sense here. Giroud?, and then not even have him in midfield. Alexis is on bench, that means he is fit. This has to be a continuation from Bayern, he played him against Sutton, on a plastic pitch, while giving Ozil a mini break. Wenger is not happy with Alexis, that is the only thing I can make of it.

  9. Wow no Sanchez starting is a massive gamble IMO. Is Wenger resting him for Bayern on Tuesday? Does he think Bayern won’t show up, or that Arsenal can win 4-0? Seems like a massive F.U. to fans.

    Hope he proves me wrong with team selection. We actually have a mathematical slim chance in premier league, but champions league is all but over.

    I must say the game today is interesting; Wenger will be a genius or a goat today; 90 minutes will tell.

    Perez

    Iwobi. ox. Welbeck

    Liverpool play fast, so speed is of essence. I would bring in Giroud as sub to replace Iwobi then move Perez left.

Sorry ot all buddies, it is not shouting..just to make emphasis but this line up already got me on my nerves. it is disrespectful to the arsenal fans who have lot faith every game and the hopes looks fainted after seeing such a horrendous choice. Who does he think he’s punishing? US? showing he’s the ONE? well, he must get the result cos not only me will ask for his head to roll out.

  16. Obvious weak links in that line up are Iwobi, Giroud and Bellerin.

    The rest of the team bar the above mentioned will at least try to make Liverpool work hard. Liverpool will press us high and hard and force us to become disjointed and the we have never been able to cope with that !

    I don’t hold out much hope but I’ll wait and see just how bad the performance and damage is !

  17. Sanchez or no Sanchez, Wenger strugles against big teams and Klopp thrive..No wonder why Wenger never won a Champion’s league and he will never win. He is tactically inept. Coqelin and Xhaka are too immobile for a pressing team like Liverpool. To worsen everything we have Giroud as a striker? Didnt he watch Liverpool’s last game? How Vardy’s pace caused problems…why not put Perez?

  67. Koscielny and mustafi are too porous today leaving monreal and Bellerin exposed to the middle of the back. If u look at the first two goals carefully u would understand wat i mean.

    1. Bellerin doesn’t help himself by losing every challenge and giving the ball away all the time. He’s terrible today.

The Xhaka/Coquelin partnership hasn’t worked the entire season — Arsene tells Xhaka to stay as the deeper of the two (which is the exact space and starting position that coquelin’s game would prefer to occupy) and asked coquelin to get forward more as the CM. That is not his game, and as a result he keeps losing the ball, or isn’t able to circulate possession the way a player that’s more suited for that position can. Everything is breaking down offensively and defensively from that partnership. Arsene keeps getting that wrong.

    Hector having a really poor game as well….maybe even season it must be said.

  69. So far the plan isn’t working. Of the front 3 the Ox is the only 1 I see putting in a shift and he’s better off in the middle for this game. Coquelin HAS to be subbed at halftime not to mention he’s already on a yellow, I’ll go even further and say he has to be replaced this summer. Xhaka has his moments but he needs a proper player to compliment him at his age.

    1. I disagree on coquelin. Don’t sell him, just play him back in his position as the CDM that he his. It should be le coq or xhaka, not le coq and xhaka.

      What he’s being asked to do he’s not capable of, he’s not a CM and should not be asked to play as far forward as he has been.

      This is Arsene’s fault. Hasn’t found an adequate replacement for Santi, and gave Ramsey far too many chances to come good in that position. Now he’s still on the roster, but Jack is gone for some reason. Foolish. (not that Jack has proven that he will come good.)

        1. I don’t know, he’s good at what he does. He should be given a fair shot to be out Xhaka for the CDM position.

          For me, the problem is the lack of a quality CM that can keep us ticking over when Santi is out.

  72. It was so obvious we were going to loose today , probably end up 2-1,and that’s the problem.It happens every year like clockwork.I would prefer to be mid table and win the title now and then,than to go through this every year.

  75. every ball regardless if it’s in our favour or not we’re losing. If they punt the ball forward to their forwards or wingers, all we’re doing is heading it back to them.

    As I said in my other comment / post Iwobi, Bellering an Giroud are obvious weak links. Bellering has nothing but speed going from him. Never in a position to really defend and when he is, it’s all too easy for the opposition to get past him. Awareness not there, hasn’t got good feet, not very good distribution and worst of all when the ball is played to him, he’ll have a little run down the wing before he slows the game down and has to pass backwards as he’s got not craft whatsoever to be able to take a man on. I’d let Barcelona or anybod else that wants him, take him off our hands.

    Giroud, likewise, nothing in his bag of tricks. Iwobi, whilst he’s still young, is too inexperienced for the Arsenal firt team.

  88. Look at how Liverpool struggle with pace. The hell was the starting line up? Wenger you are mad? Arsenal players are superior in quality to Liverpool players but then we have a clueless manager.

  89. That’s what proper balance will get you. Ox, a more natural CM than coquelin, drives a ball to our best player, who is finally on the field. He plays a world class final ball to welbx who finishes beautifully.

    Wenger out. Can’t ever get the balance or selection correct.
