Confirmed Arsenal team to face Norwich City – All change!

Arsene Wenger has kept to his policy of playing his second (or third) string Arsenal side in the League Cup, and so I am not in the slightest bit surprised that he has named this XI tonight. I am glad that we will see Matt Macey make his debut for the Gunners after 4 years of playing for the reserves and sitting hopefully on the bench for first team games. I am honestly looking forward to seeing him perform at last.

Debuchy, Elneny and Holding performed well last week, despite being nowhere near the first team, and it will be good to see Coquekin and Wilshere running the show in midfield.

Reiss Nelson and Maitland-Niles are given another chance to shine, and Walcott, Giroud and Iwobi should surely be able to cop with the Championship high-flyers….

Hopefully we will get so far in front that even the youth players in our reserves may even get a chance. This could be interesting!

So here is the official Arsenal team tonight….

    1. I’m happy to see Debuchy getting few runs in the team. I think he was treated unfairly since coming to Arsenal. Really looking towards a good game from Jack and the youngsters. Let’s get to the next round COYG!

  1. Looking forward to seeing Jack and Coq hopefully be a solid barrier to any attacks –

If successful they could become preferred choice in EPL games

  2. I’m sorry but this lineup is a disaster waiting to happen. The defence is so poor, they might prove me wrong but it won’t change the fact that they don’t fill me with confidence

  3. We must win both the league and FA Cup so that we can win more trophies on spuds home ground than they did

  4. I’m a bit annoyed with myself, got the starting x1 spot on, but named mcguane instead of osei-tutu on the bench.

Obviously if we didn’t have a number of injuries things would be different. Consider who is out Inured ospina, chambers, mustafi, cazorla, Adelaide and welbeck. 5 of those, would probably be in the starting line up, which in turn would have a massive impact on the bench.

  5. Whatever team is named, some will not have anything positive to say. People need to get behind whoever puts on the Arsenal colours.

Let’s hope the boys have a good game tonight and come out with a convincing win. I also wish we record zero injury.

    Go gunners!

  6. I agree.
Even if you don’t rate this trophy highly and think it’s a “mickey mouse” trophy (I h8 that expression. What does that make the Emirates cup then lol), you should back the boys and never hope they lose.

Just back the team and hope they win. If we end up winning this trophy, I will be happy.

As for the team, it’s stronger than I expected to be honest. I’m a little bit surprised by how strong it is

    Anyway, COYG let’s win tonight

  7. Frustrating seeing so many out of position, not sure what a manager learns from that? Should win though. 2-1 Arsenal

    1. Wenge playing to loose? r? Some Arsenal fans are just outrageous! Who signed the player? Who had is name on the team? Who decided it was he to come on as a sub and not any other player on the bench? C’omon! If it were Mouriho who made this kind of sub and got this kind of awesome instant result….it will be all praises,…”genius”. Give honour where it is due…..Wenger got it spot-on – he deserves the credits for this one!

  8. Debuchy has been surprisingly good.

    Iwobi has been surprisingly poor.

And someone please remind Elneny he is playing CB.

  9. Why are Coq and Elneny taking all the shots on goal? Wenger needs to give them an earful at halftime.

      1. Saved Wenger? Some Arsenal fans are just outrageous! Who signed the player? Who had is name on the team? Who decided it was he to come on as a sub and not any other player on the bench? C’omon! If it were Mouriho who made this kind of sub and got this kind of awesome instant result….it will be all praises,…”genius”. Give honour where it is due…..Wenger got it spot-on – he deserves the credits for this one!

  10. a half that demonstrates why wenger will never deliver the top trophies again … players out of position no strategy and no cutting edge … a second string team should be all over a championship team but younger players already being cast in a backward looking mindset … and its worth remembering that half od this team were regular starters last season … can still win this but the lack of drive and power is bascially what characterises all his combinations now

  11. Not looking good at HT. Norwich are all over us. Wilshire and Coq should be dominating midfield but are getting over ran so far

  12. Elneny is NOT a CB and doesn’t want to be a CB, not that this game really matters, but playing him as a CB will always be a disaster

  13. most of these players should be ploughing their trade in the lower divisions … but none are as overrated as the so-called whippet who doesnt even have the pace to threaten defences anymore

  14. My observation this season is 3-4-3 kills our creativity,we dont play the beautiful creative football that we are famous for. I hope Wenger goes back to 4-2-3-1 atleast against weak teams

  15. wilshere does not move around enough … stands around too much waiting for ball … surely job of a coach to correct that

  16. the general lethargy of players remains a worry … would have thought they would be putting in a maximum shift but not so … and norwhich still a threat

  17. my god … dont care what trophy he won giroud is an utterly average footballer … only player more hopeless has been walcott

  18. You wanted young player, you got it. An efficient young attacker, about time we got 1 right after so many failed wonderkid like akpom and afobe.

  19. I think its time to ship out Walcott especially considering that we now have many young wingers and attackers

  20. Hey Wenger,
Thanks for believing in these young men. Hopefully, they’ll pay you back, n the arsenal will reap huge benefits.
    Tout simplement géniale, Eddie.
    Merci, prof.
