Confirmed Arsenal team to host red-hot Watford side

Arsenal have confirmed their line-up to take on Watford today, with Sokratis returning from injury, and Torreira keeping his league place ahead of Guendouzi.

There has been talk of Leno making more appearances after impressing Unai Emery in recent weeks, not today will not see him make his Premier League debut.

Is this going to be our starting XI for the remainder of the season barring injuries? Does Mkhitaryan deserve more minutes? Has Torreira assured himself ahead of Guendouzi?

  1. Meanwhile the small team wic our fans said dat we beat recently is slaughtering the mighty manchester united 3-1

    1. IT IS FUNNY AND SAD WHEN WE WIN A GAME , THE TEAM IS DESCRIBED AS SH**T…LETS LEARN TO APPRECIATE OUR UR TEAM…COYG…GOING N CLIMBING HIGH THE TABLE GRADUALLY…Man- united played same team and got beaten.

      1. Great effort by West Ham United, well led by Mark Noble. What a save from Fabianski low to his right from Fellaini!
Sanchez can’t make a Manchester United team beaten 3:1 by West Ham United. I hope you were watching Aaron Ramsey.

  2. Wtf is Ramsey still doing in the team?well maybe to increase he’s “buyability” in Jan .COYG Hope we beat Watford 3-0

  3. Emery has contributed to a large extent to the current form of Ozil and Ramsey. Both have had little or no impact this season save their few goals/assists which papered covered their performance. Also Auba at wide is a huge mistake and against a good fullback he will prove to be average. It must be one of Auba or Laca not both or play two upfront in which in our case right be defensive suicide due to a weak midfield and defense.Does Emery not know that this isn’t a pressing team?Shocking decision by him which people usually ignore.I’m disappointed in his persistence with mistakes.Unsurprisngly,we will see both players improve when placed in their right positions.

    1. kev, please submit your application for head coach Unai Emery’s position as soon as practicable.
Ramsey should be nowhere near the starting eleven or bench at Arsenal.

      1. Sorry but just like how you deemed some of Wenger’s decisions wrong I also seen some of Emery’s wrong too. This isn’t rocket science.Just by looking at the lineup you can tell what’s wrong but let’s pretend all’s well.I’m sick and tired of this poor decisions which will probably show itself on the pitch today too.Hope were lucky again because any team that takes it’s chances against us probably finishes us easily.

    2. We are rebuilding Kev, so se need the players to acomodate to the tactics and vision of the new coach, not the coach to acomodate to our players, who are used to wenger (none) tactics…i like the pressing tactic AND the players who can’t acomodate to that has to leave…i think Ramsey colud do that…and stop with that”out of position” nonsense….ramsey plays cam on wales and he allways want to play there…if he cant deliver so he needs to leave…about Ozil, I’m more than happy to see that dead corpe out of our team since seeing him depress me…even if many of our players seems him as our best player, it doesnt change my mind…he is a Freezer on the pitch….i would love those 350k a week on Alexis here…we would have an awesome team

      1. You’re speak nonsense. He’s a CM in Arsenal not in Wales. The tactics over there are not the same as here.Or do you think tactics is all about formation?Learn how to speak before you call out a person for speaking nonsense.Ozil is off form and he’s not being helped by Emery’s tactics. In the first place,I wouldn’t have given him that salary and would’ve sold hi. That season. We are told that Ozil loves Arsenal and is loyal by signing a £350,000 a week deal but Ramsey is disloyal by demanding £250,000 a week.None deserve such contracts and both are the same in terms of how loyal they are.

      2. ramsey is essentially another forward in this setup. That is not the position he plays for Wales. Complete lie that he wants to play CAM as well.

        1. Yet he said I was speaking nonsense. This is all on Emery for his poor team selection and putting players put of position.Imagine doing the same the same thing and expecting different results.

  4. I would love to see torreira AND guendouzi and xhaka on the bench…that would give as more energy, and improve oye shield…but in truth, guendouzi need More experence

  5. We really should try win this match and keep the momentum going..
OT: just read somewhere were a man u fan said ” the luckiest man u fans died way back at 2013″ ..that shiit cracked me up…all I need is just a win today and for some reasons I think these game would be tougher than the past four..COYG

  6. I’ve been a fan of Emerys body of work thus far
in his short tenure but at some point the gaffer
needs to accept the widespread, universal
Arsenal truth that Ozil and Ramsey cant feature
together in the Arsenal midfield. IMO neither
should even be in the starting 11 based on
recent form and the unbalance that there
seemingly necessary inclusion brings to the
middle of the pitch. I personally would prefer
    this lineup:

    Laca
    Welbeck…Miki…Auba
    Xhaka…Torreria
    Nacho…Mustafi…Holding…Bellerin
    Cech

  7. Big game for use first proper test given how unluckily early City/Chelsea came for Emery. Watford have been amazing. A 2-1 loss to Man Utd and penalty loss in the League Cup to Spurs the only losses they have suffered. Their formation is intriguing as well as it’s 4222 with no wingers probably would suit us to be honest. As I write clear penalty, what a joke wasn’t remotely debatable.

  8. A part of me died when laca missed that chance. Not happy at all. Bring Welbs on the wings and enough of this. No more Mesut and big head Ramsey on the pitch.! Even iwobi needs to replace Abuama ffs

    1. So you now accept it should be one of Auba or Laca and not both?Waiting for his goal to paper over another average performance again.

      1. This team is un balanced. I am for laca and abuama in the same starting line up but only later when the game is about to end but not from the start. I am very nervous as we have missed some great chances.

        1. The thing is some people are scared that one of them will be unhappy and force a move put of Arsenal this season. That’s why any average performance by Iwobi is criticized so much because they want Auba to start over him.If we are to face reality it should be one of them and to think we should stick with Auba as main CF with Laca being the backup.

  9. When one examines the Man City goals “architectural designs” by city wingers – Sane and Sterling – one can only be nostalgic of Wiltord and Pires for Arsenal of the past.
Highbury I hail and miss thee.

    1. You are actually not watching the game. xhaka is playing well, Ramsey is our problem he can’t give us that creative spark in that position. Ozil is even more involve in the game than Ramsey and Auba

  10. Another first half you just shrug your shoulders at. Nothing particularly great. Lacazette miss is exactly why teams don’t fear us. And now we’ve lost Cech who has saved us again this first half. Let’s see if Leno can step up and if we can create a moment of magic. Lackluster first half :/

    1. …upon hearing ramsey is to leave arsenal – i’m not gonna lie, i was delighted. even if he scores at some point (today), thank heavens his term is drawing to an end.

  11. Fagin attention hores. Todays player are rather conerned to score nice goals so they can watch them selft on social media etc instead of just doing their job. Laca first insinct surely was to hit the ball but then a second thought came to him to score a beaty and therefore he missed it.! Comon Laca i expect him to score two goals now.

  12. I have a feeling that Emery will keep the dreadful Ramsey on the field and sub Lacazette. Laca has missed a couple of really good chances but Ramsey has been completely useless.

  13. This is a kind of game that makes on to appreciate 3-2 victory.

Troy Deeney, cojones Theory and The press today.
    Ouch !!!

  14. Well deserved! Watford will be top half but with the clear penalty and some of our misses you can hardly say Watford deserved the draw. Big moment! Thinks it’s between us and Spurs for 4th who were always going to beat Huddersfield! 2 nil now 🙂 So important we get that 4th spot this year or with the way the club is run we’ll never get back.

    1. Commentator just said that the clean sheet will be shared between cech and Jay leno. Didn’t know we had Jay leno as our keeper.

      1. just 4U Sue… “Ozil is a class act” – its those around him who need to up their game 😀 imo; and on a similar note (Sue) i’m sure your as happy as i am about this result, lets hope this snowballs into something greater…

        1. Thank you!! ? yes very happy, thought we were heading for 0-0, so 2 goals & a clean sheet was just the job! Ramsey being subbed changed everything!
Yes let’s hope we keep going waal2waal, on to Thursday COYG

          1. its two games now, once Ozill is in CAM position he plays well. I can’t understand playing Ramsay in CAM. there are Iwobi, Mkhi, Welbaeck to play on wing, why use Ozil?

  15. 7 wins in a row. Clean wins? Not at all, but wins nonetheless. Wins that would probably be draws or losses last season.

    1. excuse me but…you may be jumping the gun (a bit), 7 premiership straight wins is worth mention, but of the teams you include consist of minnows, europes minions and lower division fodder. We’ve still a long way to go if we’re to remain grounded..

      1. and we lost to minnows last season. I’m very aware we have not been extraordinary, but wins are wins and building up a self belief that you can win games is massive. Arsenal have mentality problems, and usually collapse in the type of match we’ve just played. It’s a huge positive that we were able to find a way.

        1. … given Watford had started this campaign so well, i was also thinking this could be a bit of a banana skin (game) for us; but as a character test we’re showing the grit and determine most fans expect of the gunners… However, whether its a case of onwards and upwards remains to be seen – i hope so, but, for sure the tougher tests are ahead.

  16. Waiting for another article criticising the team performance…
I really don’t care……this is a game we might have lost these past season and a second clean sheet… We finding our back bone once again

    1. Yup. This game went against the instincts of Arsenal over the past decade which is to lose a match we’ve been dominating and wonder what we did wrong and why we mentally collapse. Changing the mindset of our team and having the self-belief that we can win these tough games is MASSIVE. Cech has said it himself that the Arsenal team doesnt believe they can be winners. These hard earned victories feel the best. Were we great to any degree, not really, but at the end of the day we get the three points and the spirit in the dressing room stays at a high. I’m sure many fans were getting a bad feeling about the match the later it went on and was expecting a typical Arsenal collapse. So glad the opposite occurred.

  17. Not trying to cause any sort of argument but ozil was not really playing well till we brought in iwobi, the boy is gonna shake the EPL of he continues this way,boy got loads of potential

  18. Bro we won..take the win@lenohappy….we always find a to dent a win….anyways my weekend and week ahead is already set… staying positive all day.

  19. I think there is a lot of improvement in the team each game they play. They are not playing badly thou not outstanding.
The main positive for me this season is their cutting edge, using few minutes to decide games unlike playing 90+ minutes with no good result.
That being said, moving Ozil to the wing to accomodate Ramsey in AM is a crime. If Ozil must be bench it should be for a better creative player, Mhki and even Iwobi is way more creative than Ramsey. Ramsey has better work rate u can’t dispute that. For Auba he plays too much with ball.
Finally, the need for wingers in this set up is very glaring.

  20. Hard fought, but great win nonetheless.
Still far from the finished article, but we’re gradually making slow but steady progress with every passing game.
We’d probably have drawn or lost this last season.
    Onwards & Upwards!
