Confirmed Arsenal team and Preview of Atletico Madrid match in Singapore

So we have Arsenal’s first serious pre-season game shortly against Atletico Madrid, and we are all dying to see how Unai Emery sets his team up.

Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny are unlikely to feature as they have just joined the squad after their holidays, while Danny Welbeck and Lucas Torreira are yet to come back.

But Emery will have more than enough fit players to choose from as he has had over two weeks training with most of his squad, with a few youngsters like Smith-Rowe joining them, so we will definitely have a strong team out there.

As Emery said when asked if he would continue the attacking format he used against Boreham Wood. He replied: Each match is different, with Atletico Madrid and PSG the level is bigger [than against Boreham Wood] and it is clear these two clubs don’t have at the moment every player who was at the World Cup. But the level is still big and we play with our capacity today, but we are still waiting on some players who played in the World Cup too. But I am very happy with the work every day and with the performance of the players and tomorrow we are going to prepare to play against Atletico. We are three weeks into our work.”

So here is Emery’s chosen side to start the game today….

That is certainly a very interesting line-up, and it looks like 4-4-2 to me, with both Aubameyang and Lacazette partnering up front. It certainly doesn’t make sense to leave one of them on the bench….

    1. Yes it would be an interesting test for the team with so many new players and especially with a new manager, who I hope can restore some much needed success for Arsenal.

    2. Sue, if you don’t have an android box you could try loading Mobdro on your PC or phone.

    3. Been searching myself havnt time to be downloading
Found a link on crickfree if u still need one

    1. Guendouzi cant shoot…thats the only weakness i have noticed…very terrible shooting

  1. we need more ideas at the front the 4 at the back in atletico are
young players without experience and are stopping all Arsenal attacks
75% position but Oblak stops everything we need goal

  2. Great game, good pressing with nice attacks. Lacazette denied three chances by Oblak so far

  3. I told you if we dont score they will Atletico 1 Arsenal 0
we need goal at the front the different touch

  4. The same with Wenger 75% position and no goal first atletico attack and
goal can we make the difference in the 2nd half?

  5. Aubameyang and Laca just need to sharpen up their fitness I think. They are getting into good areas, just poor touches, Aubameyang had a good chance he scuffed at. Overall it’s much better than last year where we would just side pass to death and create zero chances. There are chances being created and players running into the box which is something that needed to be fixed. Defensively, it still looks like Arsenal is always due for an error at the back. Holding and Mustafi still don’t give me much confidence. Ramsey, was decent, Guendouzi was positive in possession, and Smith-Rowe had some moments as well. Nelson, I still see him and want much more from him.

  6. I seriously think it should be either Aubameyang or Lacazette up top if we can’t find an effective way of playing them together, my preference would be Aubameyang the way it’s looking. Use 2 natural wingers for this formation we’re playing now, 1 of whom we difinetly need to go out an buy since we lost pace in the Ox, Theo and Alexis.

  7. Come on Arsenal… I know it’s only a friendly but still!
I’m off to watch The Incredibles with the kids…. COYG

  8. We need some serious width in our team, we have a lot of in the middle players. Guendouzi, Nelson, and Rowe-Smith look like they could become some real ballers though.

  9. what a goal Smith Rowe, just runs by some Atleti players, stabs it into top corner. Emery will surely be giving him some game time this season

  10. Yessssssss we are back fantastic goal with a fantastic player
that is what we need 1-1 Smith Rowe

  11. one of the athletico player had on a pair of shades – nelson should have put his chance away. guindozi looks promising, has a nice air of confidence about him. i want to see iwobi on the pitch. why him? i hear you ask. its because he’s been given a improved contract which i expect he’ll be trying to assure us all he’s worth every dime.

now let’s see what it is emery got in terms of tactics – its gonna be about who among this bunch can anticipate and read the game so as to turn things round, who will show character??

  12. Impressed with Smith-Rowe, Auba, Nelson and Guendouzi.
    Disappointed with Kalasinac and Holding.

  13. Atleti almost score, Guendouzi giveaway, near our box, Arsenal just dont boot it out and try to dribble. Cech, great save. String of unnecessary risks.

  14. Mavro, Niles, Sokratis, Perez, Nketiah, Chambers, Miki, Osei-tutu getting subbed on.

Ramsey, Nelson, Laca, Hector, Aubmaneya, Mustafi, Smith Rowe, Holding off.

  15. Seems we’ve switched to 3 at the back. Id say it looks a 3-4-3

    Cech
    Mavro-Sokratis-Chambers
    OseiTutu-Guendouzi-Niles-Kolasinac
    Perez-Nketiah-Miki
