Confirmed Arsenal team to take on Man United – Welbeck starts!

Arsenal have announced their side to take on Manchester United today, and Danny Welbeck is a surprise inclusion against his former side.

Granit Xhaka was ruled out of today’s game when Arsene Wenger held his pre-match press conference on Thursday, but returned to training yesterday and has managed to recover in time to play today.

Shkodran Mustafi has been in training this week but has been left out of the squad, with Holding and Monreal lining up alongside Koscielny.

I’m not quite sure of Wenger’s thinking with Danny Welbeck, as I would much prefer to have seen Theo Walcott or Alexis Sanchez playing centrally to add to their impressive tallies this term.

Will this team be strong enough to win today?

    Good to see holding back
Welbz stretches defences more than giroud

    Hopeful of a win
    Nothing more

Come on Arsene beat mourinho once just once

    1. Goonerboy says:

Holding is a breath of fresh air, so glad to have him there..

  2. Fatboy Gooney says:

It’s still 0-0 at Anfield (89th minute) and they missed a pen.
I haven’t anything to say about our lineup lol ?? I’m just praying for the unlikely 3 points.
    Coyg’s ?⚪️??

  3. Break-on-through says:

Prefer Welbeck there than Walcott or Giroud. Otherwise we’d have two players doing allot of ball watching. I hope Danny switches around with Ozil if our wing-back starts getting isolated.

    1. Goonerboy says:

Yes, but Welbeck hasn’t been good enough in recent weeks, am gutted for Lucas he could have gotten his chance

      1. GunnerJack says:

If he was fully fit AW would not have picked him… he’s not one of his little darling favourites.

  4. gunnerman8701 says:

Hahahahahaha its hilarious how optimistic some fans are. Mourinho will either draw or win the game. Don’t forget its still Wenger in charge.

    1. Dee23 says:

I bet you feel like a twat now. Arsenal have been all over United today. Mourinho’s first defeat against Wenger in the league. So much for your faith in “the special one”. Mourinho hasn’t got a clue. United bottled it and tried to get a 0-0.

I bet you feel like a twat now. Arsenal have been all over United. So much for your faith in “the special one”. Mourinho bottled it this match. He tried to park the bus and get a 0-0 but his plans flopped. Wenger will get his first victory against him in the league.

  5. RSH says:

Monreal should be wingback. Gibbs not good enough to start, and Monreal links up way better with Alexis.

    1. Goonerboy says:

Exactly my thought, Gibbs doesn’t cut it for me, Bellerin can do well in that position imo…
Strong line-up from ManU but we can win this!

  6. John Ibrahim says:

Even fans do not hv confidence in the players and manager anymore

    Time for a change

  7. Janssen says:

easy win. Never sure about Ramsey starting and not happy about the left flank being ruled by two left backs with Monreal and Gibbs, last time that didn’t generate much forward pressure. Guess Wenger is afraid of Man U.

How sweet a win would be!!!!

  8. John Ibrahim says:

Expecting Rashford and mata to score

  9. john says:

I think that the right choice playing Welbeck instead of giroud, cos Welbeck a bee always buzzing around and can unlock defences’ better
Good to see holding back a player of the future
    Coyg

  10. Quantic Dream says:

I think it will be a draw…man utd are unbeaten in 25 games and Mourinho always gets the better of Le Potato head.

  11. Big G says:

Judgement day is finally here, come on Arsenal, surprise us with a win.

  12. John Ibrahim says:

Wenger is afraid of a weaken man utd with their B team…..

How we have fallen so low

    1. Martin says:

Have you seen their team, I wouldn’t exactly call it a B team….

  13. John Ibrahim says:

Another poor game…dominated by the visitors

    Disappointing

  14. twig says:

If we lose today’s game, can we still win the premier league?

  15. Gunnerman8701 says:

Don’t hold your breathe. Wenger is still incharge.

  16. gunnerman8701 says:

That should have been 1 nil down

  17. jisig says:

I really wish Iwobi could get a run. No one to hold the ball. The OX has no football brain. Metchewww.

  18. John0711 says:

Watch ozil he walk and others run around him FFS

  19. Javier says:

Mediocrity will continue to be the norm with Wenger in charge.
    sorry!

  20. reddb10 says:

The only reason ozil keeps playing is to retan some value when we sell him. he is that s#!t

  21. jisig says:

There is no passion in this team anymore. They are always afraid of the bug teams. This is not Arsenal at all!!!!!

    1. twig says:

“This is not Arsenal at all!!!!!”

It has been. For the last 10 years.

  22. luvdaguns says:

i love when ozil dominates a match like this, pay him what he wants ?

  23. RSH says:

Twice Ox has blatantly decided not to make easy passes that would’ve created goal scoring opportunities.

  24. Rkw says:

uncomfortably in Manchester but can’t face going to any local to watch this kind of half baked football … as soon as Ramsey’s name comes up I know we will be mediocre …

    1. Charlie-Nick says:

      He’s playing quite well today

      1. Rkw says:

My God … every bloody week a willingness to put up with same old
        S???

        1. Charlie-Nick says:

          You’re an aggressive SOB aren’t you. ?
We’ve got the players we’ve got , and Ramsey is putting in a shift, and making great runs
We know you’re the ONLY real Arsenal fan…but we all have our opinions.
          so STFU

          1. Rkw says:

Wow … your celebration of mediocrity know no bounds … just like with the whippet his one dimensional sub average football sends u in to raptures … putting in a shift … lol …lhere are players in lower divisions who do it week in week out for a fraction of what this hapless Welshman earns … nothing to do with real fans have put up with that for 5 years … time to move on

          2. Charlie-Nick says:

            blah….blah…blah

            say something interesting for once

  25. Charlie-Nick says:

At least a reasonably entertaining game so far

  26. jisig says:

When I said Iwobi is far better than Ramsey I always get thumbs down. Ever since Wenger dropped Iwobi to the bench how many time have Arsenal won a game? Tell me.

    1. RSH says:

neither are that good. Iwobi played for several months after his form took a massive dip. I don’t know why you’re hyping him up when he wouldn’t really make much of a difference.

      1. RSH says:

not the one thumbing you down btw.

    2. Muffdiver wants change...not for arsenal...for.the vending machine, I'm thirsty as f### says:

      Ramsey having Good game.

      Can’t front

      1. RSH says:

agree. Making great runs at great times today. Our best player this first half.

        1. Fatboy Gooney says:

Poor old deprived Gooners ?? left delusional in their judgment over the useless Bale wannabe ?
His ?? .. Open your eyes, just because his touched the ball more than the rest of his teammates, he’s also forked it up the most aswell lol ?

          1. RSH says:

i love this forum. Giving Ramsey even mild praise is the biggest crime, lmao.

    3. Tidan2 says:

Pretty dumb time to say it when Ramsey is one of the better players today, though.

      1. Fatboy Gooney says:

Ramsey is a W@nker and a useless one at that.
He’s always in the right position to fork things up.

  27. RSH says:

Okay first half. At least we looks capable of creating chances. Better decision making in final third is needed though. Ox is making poor choices today in good positions. Holding has been great so far, Xhaka decent too… As usual, Ozil keeps you wanting. Don’t get it.

  28. Roland Jones says:

    Crying out for a striker…

    1. Fatboy Gooney says:

Sad times, when all hopes are resting on Danny Setback ?

    2. RSH says:

      don’t worry, we’re getting Mbappe ??

      1. Charlie-Nick says:

He’s desperate to come to us…

        1. Fatboy Gooney says:

His off to Real Madrid … Wait and see ?

          1. Charlie-Nick says:

            yeah, I know
            Irony mate

  29. jisig says:

Even the Analysts are complaining about Ramsey.

    1. luvdaguns says:

      24 matches goalless…

  30. Big G says:

I can’t say its been great to watch so far but at least we are creating chances.

  31. RSH says:

That’s why you take shots outside the box sometimes! Thank you Xhaka!!

  32. bran99 says:

1-0, but scared when Rashford comes in with Pogba, it’s gonna be scary

    1. Dee23 says:

What’s Rashford gonna do? You pay too much respect to United. United aren’t as attacking as they used to be.

    2. RSH says:

      Flopba?

  33. Adienl says:

We’ve been shooting so much today. We should be doing this every game.

  34. Fatboy Gooney says:

    Boooooom! ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
    That’s the way to Go
    Shoot God dammit ??

  35. Charlie-Nick says:

    Oh yesss Danny

  36. Charlie-Nick says:

    Brilliant cross from Ox

  37. Fatboy Gooney says:

    GOALLLL ⚽️⚽️⚽️
    Danny Setback ?

  38. Fatboy Gooney says:

Big ups to Wenger’s half time non – existent team talk ?

    1. RSH says:

wenger is god again. all hail!

  39. jisig says:

Arsene Wenger should learn from Mou. The moment we got the second goal Mou quickly made substitutions. Arsene can’t do that.

    1. Dee23 says:

No I think Mourinho should learn from us. He’s the one loosing.

      1. RSH says:

nah, wenger should learn from mourinho. Then he might finally get a champions league trophy instead of a top 4 one.

  40. luvdaguns says:

Rather than force the easy corner, Ox never gives up, sweeeet goal!

  41. Roehahn says:

Time to bring on Walcott…United are open at the back ..

  42. RSH says:

why is alexis getting schooled by this academy player though?

  43. GrahamB says:

Good to see some decent fight and passion for once.

  44. luvdaguns says:

wonder what is our record w giroud starting this season vs off the bench…

  45. luvdaguns says:

    finally, wengers beats mou! ?????

  46. Big G says:

Pleasantly surprised but i’ll take the points. Arsenal have a lot of buying and selling to do if that was the best they could do against a 2nd string Utd.

    1. luvdaguns says:

      second string?
