Confirmed Arsenal XI for massive Man Utd FA cup clash

Danny Welbeck will not have the chance to help Arsenal to another FA cup win over his former club Manchester United tonight, as the England international striker is ruled out of the cup clash due to injury. The Gunners also have to do without Hector Bellerin and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but can the Arsenal players who are available stop the new United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from making it eight wins from eight since replacing our old pal Jose ‘Maureen’ Mourinho.

Unai Emery must know that this cup competition is now a very important opportunity to add some much needed gloss to his season, as it often was for Arsene Wenger, because the likelihood of a top four finish is slipping further away. Because of these circumstances and the opposition, you would have to admit that a win tonight would do wonders for the Gunners, so what Arsenal team will Emery select?

Cech
Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Koscielny, Kolasinac
Torreira, Xhaka, Ramsey,
Aubameyang, Iwobi, Lacazette

Subs: Leno, Mustafi, Monreal, Lichtsteiner, Elneny, Guendouzi, Ozil

With No Gea in the United team or squad and Arsenal playing with home advantage I think we have to go for it tonight and we do have the players to create chances and score goals. COYG!

Bob.

Atleast he’s playing 4 at the back but how bad does iwobi have to play to get dropped ,we all saw last week when he was dropped how much a better unit we looked .
If I was ozil I would just ask to leave . Absolutely shocking that he plays second fiddle to iwobi and even Ramsey a player who is leaving .

    1. kev says:

Iwobi is average but I’ll pick him over Ramsey at LW any day of the week. You do realize that even though he’s average he’s the only player along with AMN who can take a player on actually beat him in the team?Ramsey offered nothing from an attacking point of view last week and the midfield three were poor going forward last week so I’m glad Ramsey is actually playing in his original position today.

      1. gotanidea says:

Yes, Iwobi is the only one that is usually willing to dribble past the opponents and has the good skills to do it

The other midfielders are just too afraid to risk their legs and lose the ball, therefore they usually release the ball quickly to run from the one-on-one situations

        1. Declan says:

And Iwobi dribbles past 3 players then either passes to the opposition or balloons the ball over the bar.

      2. Dan kit says:

Please remind me when he’s taking players on and beaten them .hes fcking ago plain and simple and I’m not sure which match you watched against Chelsea beacuse with Ramsey playing with laca and auba we looked solid and compact .
Anyway I’m not going to get into a discussion about him again after last week ,end of the day I think he’s sh1t and he shouldn’t be in the team ,as was proved last weekend

        1. Dan kit says:

          Fcking awful *

        2. kev says:

You’re not getting my point.Ramsey is not a LW and never ever better than Iwobi at LW.Iwobi is an average player but when you look at this team he’s the only closest thing to a winger hence why he starts.Do you think if Arsenal had a proper squad Iwobi will get anywhere near the team?I also don’t know the match you watched last week.Arsenal were great defensively but not that good when they had the ball.Ramsey offered absolutely nothing attacking wise but was good defensively and in his pressing.Unfortunately today he once again starts out of position at No. 10.

    2. gotanidea says:

Ramsey has 6 assists and Iwobi produced 4 assists in EPL, hence they are not second fiddle

Ozil just has one assist so far

      1. Sue says:

He ain’t played in god knows how long!!!!

      2. kev says:

All three must be go and I just can’t wait for it to happen. They are unreliable and inconsistent.

      1. Dan kit says:

Was just going to say that .ozil ain’t played at all this season but you’re comparing him to iwobis.
Just look at iwobis stats as a forward player at arsenal then come back to me how he should be ahead of ozil .and don’t giive me this weak mentality bull crap .we don’t need 11 Vinnie Jones on the pitch .

        1. kev says:

The level of arrogance people show in defending some of our players is pathetic.Cant wait for the day both Iwobi and Ozil are sold.

          1. Dan kit says:

I’m pathetic because I’ve said I would rather have ozil in the team than iwobi ?
Mate I would rather have Giles Grimandi at his age now in the team rather than iwobi .

          2. kev says:

No you’re pathetic because you’re too arrogant. You make it seen as if Ozil has done much this season. He’s barely had a positive impact in the games he’s played in.Even Ramsey who to me is not good enough at No. 10 starts over Ozil.I even prefer Ozil to Ramsey at No. 10.Iwobi we know is average but the excuses people make for Ozil is pathetic and as for me when it comes to Iwobi,Ramsey and Ozil I have already made a conclusion on them because all three are very inconsistent.I don’t waste my time with such players.

          3. Dan kit says:

Not even a ozil fan ,just pointing out that ozil is miles ahead of iwobi .and ozil as hardly played this season

          4. Phil says:

Kev-it would have all of been so different if we had signed Tomas Lamar don’t you think.Thank god we haven’t had your usual bullshit transfer rubbish so far in this window.Only another week to go.Heres hoping

          5. kev says:

You do really speak some nonsense don’t you?If you have nothing better to say to me then please be quiet and watch the match. Some of you here are very annoying.Thank goodness Lemar wasn’t signed. It would’ve been daylight robbery.

          6. Dan kit says:

But oh Phil we have ,if you missed it 2 days ago he said done deal on Dennis saurez .now apparently it’s not a done deal .

          7. kev says:

Barca requested for one of Arsenal’s promising youngsters. The guy said one is on loan and one is in the club. This is what ultimately has led to the deal being broken down. This is not being reported by media but from a very reliable account this is the truth.

          8. kev says:

We all know Ozil is better than Iwobi but the fact that he’s better does not mean he’s doing better.Your statement makes it look like Ozil has been performing. The reality check will soon come when he’s given the chance over a run of games. Then people will see what we’ve already been seeing for the past five seasons.Just pathetic.

          9. Dan kit says:

            You said done deal !!
In my book that means he’s signed
And that was you’re 1st comment in weeks that I’ve seen .anyway I don’t wanna get into you’re transfer ins and outs !!

          10. kev says:

Please that’s not how football works. If I said “done deal” it means the deal as completed or in place or expected to be completed. You ant possibly think if I said that it means he had signed.

          11. Admin says:

That may not be how football works but it is how the English language works. Done deal means the deal is done no matter how you try and change the meaning. If you don’t mean it don’t say it.

  2. Declan says:

Not the team I would have picked but I’m not the manager.

  3. gotanidea says:

    Is it 4-2-3-1?

    ……………………………Cech
    Maitland-Niles . Sokratis . Koscielny . Kolasinac
    ………………..Torreira …….. Xhaka
    Aubameyang ………..Ramsey ………..Iwobi
    …………………………Lacazette

  4. Sue says:

    I’m a little nervous right now……….

    1. Declan says:

Yes Sue, Sanchez starts for the mancs.

      1. Sue says:

Declan that will pi*s me right off if he scores

  5. Okiror says:

ADMIN why do old Articles still stay at top of the site?

    1. Admin says:

Old? You mean the preview of the man united game that is playing right now?

      1. Ackshay says:

Lol admin articles stay at the top even when there are new ones. It’s been happening for a while.

  6. Ramterta says:

I would honestly have preferred more changes.
    Rotation is normally key.
But who knows best not me

  7. Goonerboy says:

I honestly can’t see United winning this one, regardless of whatever lucky rollercoaster run they are in right now, especially without De Gear…. Coyg!!!

    1. Goonerboy says:

      De Gea***

  8. Sue says:

    Oh ffs another injured defender….

    1. Ackshay says:

Emery should stop playing defenders since they all get injured. 0-6-4 or 0-5-5

  9. Declan says:

United there for the taking and we f*ck it up!

  10. Declan says:

United there for the taking and we feck it up!

  11. Jah son says:

O what a bit of quality can do.

  12. Sue says:

Well I’m sorry to be all doom & gloom but we don’t even look like scoring, Sokratis is injured & that bell end scores for United…. great night so far… ?

    1. gotanidea says:

I was worried that some of our main players would get injured if forced to play in this FA Cup match and my hunch is realized

      1. Sue says:

Well I’m sorry gotanidea but I actually wanted to win this game & try & win it overall!!
God why are we just like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates – you never know what you’re gonna get! So sh*t…… gutted already!!!

  13. gotanidea says:

Iwobi is the best left winger in the game so far, but

Sanchez always has the world class composure in the penalty box

and Koscielny usually cannot play the offside trap well, even during his prime

    1. Dan kit says:

Go make a hot drink come back boom 2- nil ??‍♂️

      1. Sue says:

Hope it has some bloody whiskey in it… to numb the pain!!!!

        1. Dan kit says:

No should have though , had man flu all week ,2-1 now though

          1. Sue says:

Oh no not man flu! We’ve scored yes, but my hope for winning this game has gone…

  14. Sue says:

Oh great… it just gets better & better

    1. Leon says:

They have just replaced Sokratis with a traffic cone.
      Nope…
My mistake its Mustafi that has come on
That is the FA cup over for this year then…

      1. Sue says:

As soon as Sokratis went off it was just a matter of time before we conceded…. bet he’ll be out for ages too like all our other defenders – just to add insult to injury

  15. Me says:

If I had a choice I would take Wenger back in a heart beat.
Emery’s lack of managerial competence makes Wenger look like a tactical genius.
    WENGER BACK !
    All is forgiven….

    1. ACE says:

Is that you Ivan G? No thanks you Eff’d this
club for many, many years to come.

    2. Me says:

      A troll?
For having an opinion that you disagree with?
      And you are just disrespectful.
      And thick…

  16. gotanidea says:

4-2-3-1 is prone to quick counter-attacks, as shown during the last decade of Wenger’s tenure

I wonder why Emery doesn’t use the 4-1-2-1-2 that beat Chelsea

  17. Jah son says:

Sanchez beating us with Ozil on the bench should be killing our deal makers

  18. lcebox says:

time to bring the lump on

    1. lcebox says:

lump on lets do something now to prove ur worth LUMP.
Sorry to all Ozil fans but ive lost faith in the lump this year i hope he can get me back onside.
      THats you Sue.

      1. Sue says:

You’re entitled to your opinion Icebox ?

  19. Leon says:

I am surprised that Emery has not brought someone in on loan in defence.
Or even done something to address the lack of defending ability we have.
If George Graham was dead he would be turning in his grave watching this lot…

    1. Sue says:

Have we got any defenders left???

      1. Leon says:

        Well done to Emery…
No defenders but my guess is that he will still bring in the journeyman Suarez.
If the defence was correctly addressed we would be up there with Liverpool and City – going forward we are strong but we have a league two defence…

  20. gotanidea says:

Two main CBs are out, hopefully we still have the healthy one for Cardiff

  21. Leon says:

Is Ozil about to earn some of the £350000 a week he does for doing NOTHING?
Thats £1.4 million for running about on a training pitch, having a nice little workout in the club gym and sitting on a bench.

    1. Phil says:

So watching the game in Dubai-And all of a sudden Ozil comes onto the pitch and we start looking dangerous within seconds.AND he has done this without running round like a headless chicken just to please some who say it’s all about workrate.

      1. John0711 says:

Agreed Phil I’m not his biggest fan but he’s streets ahead of Iwobi
        Xhaka

  22. Bur says:

How bad is that Niles? Piss poor!!!!!

    1. gotanidea says:

Maitland-Niles has been playing well as an RB

      1. Bur says:

Jees man you must be watching another game.

  23. Mobella says:

Is my team cursed or something ???

  24. Mobella says:

Man U has just two short on target against ours 5 and they are winning. This is hard to stomach.

    1. Sue says:

You should have known we were going to buckle Mobella… losing to the Mancs again… at home…. unbloodybelievable

      1. Mobella says:

One day we are hot the other we are cold. As for our coach when is he going to learn, how many times have we been beaten on goals scored from counterattacking. You have to go for kill if your play is based on attacking like city or pool. What does he think Ozil will do in this match when all the players that fit his tactics couldn’t do anything. He left him out when we are winning against Chelsea but brought him on when we are losing to Man U. Is trying to the world see he plays but we lose.

  25. Sue says:

Cardiff will sure as hell fancy their chances on Tuesday……

  26. Bur says:

Who is that fn arsenal defence coach, go to the fn man instead of backing off. What a bunch of shit, get rid of that dead fn wood.

  27. Pat says:

1_3, hurry Emery, there is only one thing to learn from today’s game tactics and defence. Every time a team comes up with this same tactics of counter attack against us (home or away) it works.

  28. Arsha says:

    And its over!!!
    Wtf is wrong with arsenal.
This arsenal team can do nothing

  29. GanjaMan says:

Is anybody going to say Lacazette was at fault for that goal? Same at Stamford Bridge gifting Chelsea the winner. Why is it so hard for our players to play a simple pass at time, either has to be extravagant or just plain casual.

    1. Bur says:

Laca has put 110% in , if the rest of the lazy good for nothings would put in half his shift they would be doing all right.

  30. Wolf says:

I think Manure were going in for Z Zidane, but surely Baby Face will get that job. We should go for ZZ

    1. Wolf says:

Thinking on it, won’t work because Stan needs to leave

  31. Olaitan Kayode says:

I rather have Arsene than Emery.

    1. rusky says:

      I agreed with you
      This Manager is useless

  32. Babasola says:

    Some pple just HATE

With the removal of Iwobi, our attacks became very easy for Man Utd defenders to contain

We are less dangerous without him

I was reminded of Ozil’s talent today, he has something no-one else has in the team

Just that his total game needs more passion, bite and some grit

    1. Th14 says:

Iwobi goes off, suddenly Kolasinac and Arsenal aren’t a treat anymore down that left flank…

      1. Sue says:

Let’s just face it Th14, it was sh*t…. losing to Man United at home with a former player scoring really is sh*t…. doesn’t matter who was on the pitch or not

        1. Th14 says:

I know Sue, it sucks loosing to Man U especially at home.

    2. AlexLaca9 says:

I saw nothing special or different from Ozil, for all the creativity he apparently brings to the table, 5 yard passes sideways backwards no penetration, I saw him playing off the shoulder of the defender towards the end as well, right smack bam between the two defenders where laca and auba should have been operating. I don’t know if he fancies himself a cf nowadays or it was his usual hiding from the ball, but I was disappointed for all the work he’s been apparently putting in. Atleast with Iwobi we had penetration but still there was no final ball. Why emery chose to start him and play the 4-3-3 I will never know, it’s clear we don’t have the personnel for it. The diamond 4-4-2 was so effective!! One step forward one step back. Nothing worse than losing to Utd! I properly dislike that lot

      1. Babasola says:

He did it to make Auba work today and Laca relax more by being the top Striker

At the sides Laca works his socks off, he did just some days ago against Chelsea, requesting that off him again back-to-back against a much more physical Man Utd might take him to the RED or he simply just gets injured

So he plays a formation to make the lazy Auba work a lil more

Yet Auba still does so little even from the side

Laca is so passionate, when he went behind he left the top striker position and starter working up and down the pitch again

        Ozil is talented
But his talent kinda a luxury we can replace/do without

  33. Sue says:

????? just the Europa league left then… like we’re really going to win that ?

  34. Declan says:

We need two fullbacks that play as fullbacks and not continuously out of position up front. Time and time again we were caught out on the flanks where our backs should have been. In the end we were a sh1t team beaten by another sh1t team.

  35. Perry Ames says:

When was the last time we got our backsides kicked in both cup competitions at home in the same season. Emery has been found out , not a bad coach but not to the standard required by arsenal.
I can’t believe how poor our defence is and has been for TEN YEARS for god’s sake
Season over and no money to spend what a bunch of shit. Why on way would anyone with half a brain go to these games nwhen you know you are being ripped off. What load of mugs

  36. Sue says:

Just the Europa League left then… yeah right

  37. Bur says:

Our squad is not good enough. Some of that team today wouldn’t get on a championship team.

  38. Senile says:

Even comparing Iwobi who we all know is average at best to our supposedly world class and highest player shows there is something wrong with Arsenal. These two and many others in the team are just not good enough for our ‘top’ team. But it is what it is now…

  39. Jah son says:

Where is Eddie, Sue check to see if he still doesn’t care.

    1. Sue says:

Eddie’s probably producing some tunes (& I can’t say I blame him after that complete ?)

  40. John0711 says:

    Same old same old
    P poor
    Czech
    Mustafi
    Kola can’t defend
    Xhaka what does he do
Iwobi average on his best days

Auba average but gets away with it

Why do we refuse to pay £175,000 for Ramsey but it’s ok to pay for lesser players

  41. Senile says:

I would only say Emery is not good enough of we have a decent team like manure…

  42. Babasola says:

Removal of Iwobi was the wrong move today and wassap with injuries to only our defenders all the time?

By the way, I almost detest Aubameyang, he’s too prototyped for my liking

Though he marks and presses well from the front

  43. Senile says:

That substitution was a great move by their coach, takes courage…Many would have brought in defenders.

  44. Sue says:

At least we lasted longer in the competition than last season ?

  45. Olaitan Kayode says:

I do read to some comment about Niles on this site. The guy has no brain. Jekinson is far better on that wing that him.. He plays like a kid.

Emery is just a brainless version of stubborn Wenger. I still prefer Wenger to emery. At least our wingback isn’t as porous as this… I dont blame our central back,, the have to play as a wing back too. Who does that…. See how compact man u defence was..

If Emery continue to bench Ozil, then we should settle for 6th…
