CONFIRMED – Official Arsenal team to face Newcastle – Wilshere starts again

So, Arsene Wenger made four changes for the West Ham game on Wednesday and he promised to rotate again today as this is our third EPL game in a week. Wenger also changed his formation back to his famous 4-3-3, and with Mustafi still injured and Ramsey out for the next three weeks, I thought that he would stick with that again. I tried to guess Wenger’s thoughts earlier and this is the team I predicted…

Cech
Bellerin Chambers Monreal Kolasinac
Iwobi Coquelin Wilshere
Ozil Lacazette Sanchez

Many people had called for Alexis Sanchez to be rested as he has looked less than brilliant in his last few games, but Wenger has kept faith in the hope he comes good…

And here is the official Arsenal team to face Newcastle….

I seriously thought that Wenger would give the ageing Koscielny a rest, and I am very surprised that the boss has left Kolasinac on the bench again and kept Maitland-Niles in the team. And why is Xhaka not been replaced??

This doesn’t look like much rotation to me!

  1. Ainsley Maitland Niles in his two or so matches a CM has shown me that he can protect the back four and attack very well. Why is Wenger destroying the player at LB?I remember also telling everyone here earlier in the season that we should change our formation to four back and that Monreal and Kolasinac shouldn’t be in the same team as one has to be rested and deputise for the other.I don’t care how consistent Monreal is and to me he has no CB qualities. He at times looks almost world class at LB but to me he has no qualities of a CB.Why is Xhaka also starting?Coquelin is twice the player he is for the role Xhaka should be playing.
I just hope Xhaka is sold first since he doesn’t really offer us much and that’s considering his first season and this season.Open your eyes guys and understand tactics and the roles of a player and not just extras.

    1. I love to say that our team arsenal need total overhaul. Koshieny is no longer good for the team. We need a total haul in the midfield. They are too slow to cover up the defense. One more striker if we are to make top four this season.

      1. I agree, this team is one of our largest, even with sales and loans it’s still a big squad. But I can’t remember us needing more new players than we need, right now, and come summer it’s a major shake up required.

    2. I think I know what’s going on.
      Wenger is replicating Guardiola’s tactics.
Notice that Guardiola is using Delph as a LB. Delph is a midfielder by nature. The thing is, he is only a LB in defence. In attack he and the RB move into the middle to help out the DMF protect the CBs from counter attacks and to provide additional pressure in the midfield.
When without the ball LB and RB assume their positions in the back four.
I think that’s the reason why Maitland-Niles is playing the LB for Arsenal and that that’s why the formation is now 4 2 3 1. He’s a good midfielder, and in attack, he’ll utilize his skills more in that tactical setup. I hope he lives up to the LB defensive standards.
Also, notice how Ozil has become more defensively oriented recently. That’s because in that setup the wingers in the front three now have more defensive duties than usual.
What’s your opinion on that observation?

      1. Excellent, Wenger replicated Conte’s strategy before and I’m glad if he follows Guardiola this time.

  2. Go back to Wenger’s shaky 4-2-3-1? I hope the players are more prepared for the opponent’s quick counter-attacks. As I predicted, Wenger might use 4-2-3-1 for home games and 3-4-2-1 or 4-1-2-2-1 for away games.

Maitland-Niles is more tuned in with the team than Kolasinac lately and this internal competition is very good for Arsenal. Just need to find competitors for Bellerin, Ozil and Sanchez, because they don’t seem to have any.

    1. Is he injured, if not then Wenger must be blaming Koli for Monreals ball watching and Kossers blind passing.

Ramsey finally has some competition, why else would Xhaka get a pass???.

  3. Am just really tired of Wenger actually. I don’t know what he will do to make the team better, we are not completing with the best, imagine Burnley above us on the table. Well let’s just hope they play better today.

  4. Good to see Niles playing and whilst he is versatile I too prefer him in Xhakas position but he is hardly being destroyed! I’m not surprised Kalasinac has been ‘rested’ again as he has been disappointing recently.

  5. Reading about our latest recruit in the scouting department, Stelion Farcau of Romania.

He joins Ol Diamond Eyes (Mislintat) and (The Greasy Strangler) Raul Sanllehi. The ex Barca chief was a good call, after English and Chinese, Spanish is a well used language. Small things like that can play a part.
It got me wondering though about our American scouts, they’re doing a crap job altogether, the players that come from that way, then look at the crap we pick up. At least Raul might be acquainted with some of the people out that way because Barca do well with the American market.
This Romanian newcomer is looking into eastern Europe, not an abundance comes to mind but some gems can be found, but reading about him in the – Daily Cannon – mentioned how they call him “empressio” and he looks mostly for untapped youth ..sounds about right. I hope we get a great scouting network going over in S. America, Gazidas should be taking it personally as it’s his back yard.

Ah well, onto the game …Come on Yee Gunners!!!

  6. Bullshit selection from wenger again. Xhaka still starts despite being horrendous all season. Why not play chambers or holding giving kos a well deserved rest. No take one of your best players out, play your worst, kill your over tired best defender and play out of form iwobi. Put niles in xhaka place and anyone for iwobi even walcott.
Wenger wont leave, must be sacked or unfortunately be physically unable to coach. A part of me wish he just dies which is awful but he deserves it for hating the millions of arsenal fan who hates his guts.

  7. ozil’s strike off the charts, afc look good playing only 10 along w xhaka, maitland-niles looks very active,

  8. We start off passing quick and looking up for it. Then we get a goal and what happens, slowed the passing down and generally being wasteful. That was a poor effort from Lacazette, he should have latched onto that and buried it. Come on Arsenal, come on!

  9. Wenger lost the plot about 6 years ago and now he has lost the team … he has no idea how to dominate even weak teams … it’s actually painful watching the man sit there like a clueless slug

  10. Giroud needs to follow cantata on to the stage .. his acting skills are way better than his football skills and unlike latter fun to watch … 10 mins to go and the hapless magpies think they can get something from this game … which they actuslky can

  11. Kos is playing with pain it’s obvious he grimace even when walking. I’m sure he takes injections for his achilles pain. Its sad to see him diminished by injuries like santi or jack even Ramsey missed 1year of development.

  12. I do not believe xhaka is actually paid to play football let alone the absurd sum we cough out on him each week … it’s shocking
